  11. Hi everyone, I saw in the "DEV to-do list" that an Auction House is planned, and I was wondering — why stop at auctions? It would be amazing to have a complete marketplace where you can search, sell, and buy items or Pokémon, all with in-game transactions. The reason such a market is necessary is that it would allow prices to be set by the market itself, in a transparent way. At least for me, the main issue as a new player isn’t just figuring out how much a Pokémon or an item is worth — it’s also the cost and availability of very common Pokémon or items. The trade chat is full of people spamming links to their forum shops, their multi-million Pokémon, and newbies posting random Pokémon nobody will ever buy for 5k or 10k. There’s really no effective way to buy or sell items or Pokémon without spending a lot or wasting a lot of time searching. If you type in chat that you want to buy a CC, it’ll cost you way more than what you’d get by selling it — which makes no sense, since it’s an item that can be purchased with real money; its conversion rate should be roughly the same both ways. The same goes for Pokémon: if I look for a certain Pokémon, the first 20 people who reply usually aren’t even trying to sell — they just want to make money, so they’ll only give it to you for a ridiculous markup. Of course, a bit of markup is normal when you’re buying something, but that’s exactly what a proper market regulates: if there are 50 Cyndaquils listed for 100k, I won’t ever buy yours for 300k — so you’ll adapt and maybe list it for 120k. As a new player, how am I supposed to know if the price someone’s asking me is even close to fair? Am I supposed to ask for a “price check” in chat every time? That’s tiring, clogs up the chat, and wastes more time. A simple “price check” section or automatic evaluation system wouldn’t be enough either — because the true value depends on how many of that Pokémon are currently circulating, how many people are buying or selling it, whether it’s banned or viable in PvP, how trendy it is, and so on. These are factors you can only see with a large number of listings, something that only a real, permanent, transparent marketplace can provide. Obviously everyone wants to make a profit, but if the market isn’t public and transparent, it can’t regulate itself. For example, getting berries to reduce EVs, gems, held items, or TMs is relatively easy for a veteran, but can be really difficult for a new player. Sure, there are generous players willing to help and even give away berries or Pokédex Pokémon — but how much better and more efficient would it be to just search for any Pokémon or item on the site and instantly see hundreds of offers to choose from? How much easier would it be to buy or sell without having to spam the same message 200 times in chat? Right now, buying a Pokémon is a real risk for new players, and it doesn’t seem fair that prices are set arbitrarily based on experience — since that often means fresh players get overcharged (especially the ones with the least money). Even services like lending Pokémon for quests or Pokédex completion would become more accessible and faster for everyone. I know it would take a lot of work — not just to build, but also to maintain — but speaking from my experience as a gamer, the best player-to-player trading system I’ve ever seen is in Warframe (https://warframe.market/). It’s so complete and efficient that if you could replicate something similar, you couldn’t go wrong. You can post “want to buy/sell” listings that stay active even while you’re offline, and you don’t even need an external chat because it uses in-game nicknames to contact players. The system generates preset messages linking directly to the offer. For example, if you find a Snivy you want to buy from a player named Massimo, you click “Buy” and it gives you a message to copy and paste, like: “Hey Massimo Decimo Meridio, I saw your Snivy (link) for 200k on PokemonRevolutionMarket.com — let’s trade!” I hope this post isn’t too long or repetitive, and sorry if the idea has already been discussed — I just saw the Auction House mentioned in the to-do list and wasn’t sure if a full market system was already part of the plan. If it is, then apologies for the unnecessary post!
