What it actually does:
 

• Route Ranking: Pick a target (like Charmander) and it scans every route, telling you the top 3 places to go based on how many other mons there need the exact same Sync nature.

• Membership Toggle: Uncheck a box and it automatically hides Safari/member-only areas so you don't waste time looking at locked routes.

• Built-in Smogon Viewer: Pulls Gen 9 NatDex sets (Abilities, Items, Natures) straight to the dashboard so you don't have to keep tabbing out to Chrome to check what ability you need.

• Evo Logic: If you search "Poliwag," the sheet automatically knows you are actually hunting for the competitive stats of Poliwrath and Politoed.

If you scroll over to the right, you’ll find all the raw spawn data. That’s also where the Item Hunter feature is. Just select the item you want to farm from the drop-down, and it’ll tell you exactly which mons hold it and where to find them, works just like it does in Pokémon Reborn!



How to get it working:

Because this sheet uses a custom script to run the search engine in the background, we can't all share my live sheet or it will completely break when two people search at once. You have to clone it.

I ve been practicing my html css skills, and i made a project with the Boss Path and the team that i am using and for every boss individually,

The Repel Trick Guide

Often in chat you'll have players discussing the best locations and methods to hunt their desired Pokémon, which can often involve repelling. Newer players can be unfamiliar with this process, and will ask how its done. This guide offers a full explanation of repelling Pokémon. 

A basic understanding of Repels

The basic function of repelling in PRO is to repel away Pokémon that are at a lower level than your lead slot Pokémon. When traveling on a route with wild Pokémon, these Pokémon can be found within a certain range of levels. When using a repel item, your character can travel a given number of steps without encountering any wild Pokémon, so long as the Pokémon in your lead slot is at a higher level than the Pokémon that spawn there.

This can be quite beneficial when traveling through routes where a player is unable to avoid tiles that can trigger a Pokémon spawn. While players can often avoid wild Pokémon by not walking in the grass, some locations like caves or water pathways, don't offer such an option. However, properly using a repel in those situations can allow the player to safely pass through without an encounter.

There are 3 types available to players - Repel, Super Repel, and Max Repel. The difference between these repels are the amount of steps for each repel, as well as the costs for each repel. You can purchase repels from most Poke Marts, as well as all Department Stores.

As you can see above, while your basic Repel is the cheapest to purchase, you're spending 3.5 coins per step of repelling. A Super Repel doubles the amount of steps without doubling the price for a single unit, offering your best "bang for your buck". The Max Repel is a bit more expensive than the Super Repel, both in terms of individual cost and cost per step, but it has the benefit of being the most time efficient, allowing you to walk longer and further before the repel runs out.

That said, you can purchase Max Repel in bulk from the NPC Bonny, located in every department store. The benefit of purchasing in bulk is the discounted price, bringing the price per step down to match Super repel. 

Repel hunting

In some cases, there may be a Pokémon that spawns at a higher level than the rest of the Pokémon on a certain route. For example,

This is the list of Pokémon that spawn in the Petalburg Woods. Notice how Cottonee can be found at Levels 10-13, while the rest of the Pokémon can only be found at levels 5-7. This means that repelling with a Pokémon at a level of at least 14 will be able to avoid all the Pokémon at this location, but if you repel with a Pokémon at the levels 8-13, then you will only encounter Cottonee, and not any of the other Pokémon. This is especially helpful if you wish to hunt that specific Pokémon - you can repel away all the undesirable Pokémon, and only encounter Cottonee. This process is whats known as the Repel Trick.

Because there is a gap between the levels that Cottonee spawns at and the levels of the rest of the Pokémon in this location, we have a buffer. Because Cottonee spawns starting at level 10, we can use a Pokémon at levels 8, 9, or 10 to repel away the undesired Pokémon, and only encounter the Cottonee. This buffer is nice because if gives us more options when it comes to choosing the Pokemon you wish to use to repel. We also need to be aware to not use a Pokémon at a higher level that could repel away some Cottonee. If you try using a level 12 Pokémon, then you'll only encounter Cottonee at levels 12 and 13, missing out on Cottonee spawning at levels 10 and 11. 

Here's an example where we dont have a buffer, so we need to get the exact level to properly repel hunt.

As you can see, Ditto is the only Pokémon that spawns above the level 30, and at the same time, only spawns at 1 level, 31. This means you will have to run a level 31 Pokémon as your repel. Any lower, you'll spawn all the other Pokémon. Any higher, you'll get no encounters until your repel steps are used up. 

It should be noted, repel hunting doesn't mean you're going to start encountering a lot of whatever you're hunting. It removes the Pokémon you could normally encounter instead of your target Pokémon, but it doesn't increase the spawns of your target Pokémon. The spawn rates remain the same, the only difference is you are no longer being distracted by other potential encounters that could delay you finding your target Pokémon. You may still find yourself with lengthy gaps between encounters. 

Important Pokémon for Repel Hunting

Lets take a look at Pokémon you'll be using to make your hunt much more efficient

The Repel Pokémon - A bit obvious, but essential for the repel trick to work. The repel Pokémon is the lead Pokémon in your party  which needs to be at the correct level to repel away the undesired Pokémon. If its not at the correct level, you will encounter the Pokémon you dont wish to find (too low of a repel level), or no Pokémon encounters at all (repel level too high). This Pokémon must be in slot 1 of your party. 

The Sync Pokémon - This is a Pokémon that has the ability Synchronize, and is commonly referred to as a Sync. A Pokémon with synchronize has a 50% chance of applying its nature onto a wild Pokémon. This is extremely helpful if you're hunting a Pokémon with a specific nature, like a Gastly that with a  Timid nature. By running a sync Pokémon, you drastically increase the odds of finding a Pokémon with the same nature as your sync. When you're repelling, you can either run your Sync in slot 2 (alive, behind the fainted repel Pokémon in slot 1), or if its also your repel Pokémon, in slot 1 (alive or fainted).  

The False Swipe Pokémon - This is the Pokémon you use to catch everything with. Its most important feature is the move false swipe, which can not faint a Pokémon, always leaving them with at least 1 health point (though beware if the Pokémon has a self-inflicting move, which would then cause it to faint itself). Because it doesn't faint the wild Pokémon, its ideal for hunting. Many of the preferred false swipers have a status inflicting move, usually one that puts the wild Pokémon to sleep. Both Parasect and Breloom are popular choices among players as they both have false swipe and spore (though be careful that they dont have the effect spore ability, which can accidently poison the wild Pokémon). Smeargle is another popular choice amongst players with its unique move sketch, allowing additional hunting specific moves to be learned, such as soak (changes a ghosts type to water so false swipe will effect it) or mean look (prevents Pokémon from teleporting from battle). 

The Trace Pokémon - A Pokémon with the ability Trace can determine the ability of the wild Pokémon upon encountering it, providing you with valuable information before selecting a move. If you're hunting a Pokémon with a specific ability, this is extremely helpful by giving you the information on wither or not you should catch it. By skipping the Pokémon that do not have the desired ability, you save yourself wasting poke balls or the frustration of catching Pokémon with excellent IVs but a poor ability.

Before we begin: this guide will be updated, fixed and given extra information on most pokemon that barely have any information on them. This is because they have barely any viability even in a PvE context, such as Furfrou, Unown or Dedenne. They're meme pokemon for which I was barely even able to find any information on them.

I did this from my own knowledge and I barely researched Smogon for weird sets on the most uncommon pokemon. This guide obviously needs some fixes here and there, but it is my final project for this year. For the next years, I plan to do a Walkthrough on each region, and some misc guides here and there. This is also the biggest single post ever written in PRO forums, as a flex (I think?)

When I have finished this semester's university projects + my IRL boss stops whipping me, I will go back to this guide and finish it.

The guide is 99% done from gen 1 to gen 6, so all newbies will be able to use this guide to aid themselves for Story, PvE and PvP purposes.

This guide is dedicated exclusively (although experienced players can also use this too) to listing the best and most commonly agreed natures and abilities for ALL Pokemon up to gen 8 (the number will depend on the released amount of Pokemons in PRO.) It will aim to showcase the best functions for each Pokemon, natures, abilities. I will also briefly describe some of these Pokemon and what they are good at.
 

Additionally, I will add ALL sub-par natures that can also work while going through story and natures you can still consider EV training a Pokemon if you want to use it for Bosses/rushing story, even if it’s subpar. I will also list the preferred ability ONLY if the natures differ depending on the ability it has. (Example: Bulbasaur Relaxed/Sassy if Overgrow, but Modest/Rash if Chlorophyl. However, on Fearow, the ability does not affect its preferred nature, for example.

The best/most preferable ability/nature for PvP will also be indicated in bold. The remaining ones are also usable in Bosses/Story with weird sets, and PvP (if you want to risk running subpar sets). Legendary Pokemon, Spawnable only Pokemon (Tier 10, which means Quest only / Fossils / Revivable Pokemon will ONLY have their BEST natures shown, because you have to purposedly go and hunt them specifically to obtain them, via quests or other ways.) I will

I will also ONLY list the most preferable natures for some PvP Pokemon that cannot work anywhere in any way with subpar natures (for example, Gliscor only works with Impish, Jolly, Careful, there’s no way to make it work with Relaxed or Sassy because it cripples it completely).

This will be a rundown for newbies to know which Pokemon and which nature/ability combination to use while going through story/PvP/Bosses. Keep in mind: some of the choices below will look weird, but these are natures and combinations that can work against bosses and in story. It does not mean they will work on PvP. It means they will ATLEAST work for PvE efficiently.

Some of the abilities in some Pokemon may look weird. This is because some abilities become other abilities once the Pokemon has fully evolved. For example, Cleffa and Clefairy’s Friend Guard ability is completely useless as it is not coded and has no function in battle. However, Friend Guard becomes Unaware on Clefable, one of the best abilities in Pokemon.

Thus, you may see I did not highlight Friend Guard, but I did highlight Unaware.

I have ordered the abilities like this so you can know the one directly below is the ability it’ll become once fully evolved:

Normal ability 1 / Normal ability 2 / Hidden Ability (most of the times) example: CleFairy

Normal ability (only normal ability) / Hidden Ability example: Butterfree

Normal ability (only ability) example: Koffing/Weezing
 

Note that certain Pokemon like Cocoon Pokemon (Metapod, Kakuna, Silcoon, Cascoon) only have a single ability, which does not allow you to see which ability it will become once fully evolved. Example:

I catch a Caterpie. If it has Shield Dust, it will be Compoundeyes no matter if Metapod’s only ability is Shed Skin.

I catch a Metapod. Since its ability is Shed Skin, I have no idea what it will become until it fully evolves.
^for this reason, avoid hunting Cocoon Pokemon or the middle stages of a Pokemon if possible. This is, however, not possible in Ferroseed, because its first huntable stage in the wild already has this issue with Iron Barbs. You cannot know if it is Anticipation until it evolves.

Sometimes there are less or more extra natures. This is done on purpose to help newbies to not make them hunt unnecessary natures by accident.
Not due to me being too lazy, of course.

Ahead of everything, these following 7 natures are NEVER used because they are completely useless natures that have NO usage whatsoever. These are the 5 neutral natures and the 2 defense lowering and decreasing natures:

Hardy, Serious, Bashful, Quirky, Docile. These 5 have no effect.

Lax, Gentle. These 2 increase DEF and decrease SPDEF, and the other one does the opposite. These 7 natures have no usage whatsoever and are completely useless on ALL possible situations.
 

If you want to know a specific Pokemon’s recommendation, press the F3 key in your keyboard and search the Pokemon you wish to find.

KANTO

Bulbasaur/Ivysaur/Venusaur/Mega Venusaur

Preferred Abilities:

Overgrow/Chlorophyl (However, for Mega, pick Overgrow+ Natures)

Note: Chlorophyl only works under Sunny Weather and DOUBLES your speed. Overgrow only when your HP is 33% or less. Mega Venusaur’s ability is Thick Fat. CHONKY BOI.

Bulbasaur is either an utility Pokemon or a sweeper Pokemon. Extremely useful and fun to use. EXTREMELY good for story and PvE related content. It’s a very strong and hard hitting Pokemon that can also be an incredible tank. It is also a good option to capture wild Pokemon thanks to its Stun Spore, Sleep Powder and Poison Powder access. It combines both physical and special attacks with a mix of being very tanky and surprisingly fast (80 base speed is the same as Dragonite, so imagine that Dragonite and Venusaur run at the same speed lol).

Overgrow: Bold/Relaxed/Sassy/Calm/Modest/Quiet/Impish/Careful - Defensive Venusaur or Mega Venusaur sets.

Chlorophyl: Modest/Rash/Mild/Timid - Normal Chlorophyl Venusaur (not megaevolved!)

Charmander/Charmeleon/Charizard/Mega Charizard X/Mega Charizard Y

(For Mega, both can work, depending on which one Blaze X, Solar Y).

Preferred Abilities:

Blaze/Solar Power

Note: Solar Power only works under Sunny Weather and increases your SPATK, but it lowers your MAX HP every turn. Blaze only works when your HP is 33% or less.
Mega Charizard X’s ability is Tough Claws. Powers up contact moves. Mega Charizard Y’s ability is Drought. Summons Sun.

Charmander is a sweeper Pokemon (an attacker, mainly). Extremely fun to use for Story, amazing movepool and hits hard. It’s frail as paper though. It deals a lot of damage, learns a lot of useful offensive moves and is overall one of the best Fire Types in PRO. It is a very good option as a starter for newbies AS LONG AS YOU ARE WILLING TO INVEST IN PURCHASING TMS TO LEVEL IT UP. Charizard learns many good attacking TMs but BEWARE it has MANY weaknesses.

Blaze : Jolly/Timid/Naive/Adamant/Modest/Rash/Naughty/Lonely/Hasty/Mild - Can be either physical or special.

Solar Power: Timid/Modest/Naive/Hasty/Rash/Mild - If you have Solar Power + a physical nature it means your ability is dead because it powers up your SPATK and not your ATK. Thus, I'd only use Special oriented sets with these natures. If you accidentally got Solar Power + a physically oriented nature, you can still megaevolve it into Mega Charizard X, but when you don't megaevolve it, it basically means you have a dead ability.

Mega Charizard X: Jolly/Adamant/Naughty/Impish/Lonely/Hasty/Naive

Mega Charizard Y: Timid/Modest/Naive/Hasty/Rash/Mild

Squirtle/Wartortle/Blastoise/Mega Blastoise.

(For Mega, both can work, but Torrent + Natures are better)

Preferred Abilities:

Torrent/Rain Dish

Note: Rain Dish only works under rainy weather and will heal you every turn. Torrent only works when your HP is 33% or less. Mega Blastoise’s ability is Mega Launcher.

Squirtle is a defensive attacker and utility Pokemon. It’s the balanced option between all starters. It learns some of everything and it’s very tanky! This is your go-to option if you are very unsure on what to pick between all the starters. It’s the more balanced one. One of the problems with it is that its movepool is not great compared to the other two, this is basically the "okay, I have no idea how Pokemon works, I will just pick up this turtle thingy". However, in the gen 9 update, this guy has another option: SHELL SMASH. Shell Smash makes this thing hit like an absolute TRUCK. This is now a tanky sweeping monster for story. Squirtle is now an incredible option for story too.

Torrent: Modest, Quiet, Timid, Rash, Mild, Naive, Hasty - preferred for offensive Blastoise and Mega Blastoise

Rain Dish: Bold, Calm, Relaxed, Sassy, Modest, Quiet - Preferred for non Mega Blastoise

Caterpie/Metapod/Butterfree

Preferred Abilities:

Caterpie - Shield Dust/Run Away

Metapod - Shed Skin (Metapod only has one ability)

Butterfree - Compound Eyes/Tinted Lens

Note: Run Away has no effect in battle. Shield Dust protects from secondary effects (Ember’s burn), but not primary (Will-o-Wisp). Shed Skin only works if you have a Status Condition. Compoundeyes is ONLY coded IN battle, not OUTSIDE. Tinted Lens is amazing as it nullifies an enemy’s 2x resistance to your attacks (example: you can attack a Rock Type with Gust, and there will be no damage reduction)

Caterpie is an utility HM Slave Pokemon. Butterfree is an amazing Pokemon for PvE content, it allows you to capture Pokemon easily with status afflicting moves and can help you cheese some Gym and Important fights. You can copy what I mentioned in Bulbasaur. Butterfree can also allow you to sweep bosses through the combination of Iron Defense + Quiver Dance + Roost + Bug Buzz + Tinted Lens with a Bold or Modest nature. It will also let you run over story by just using Quiver Dance and three specially attacking oriented moves!

All best/usable natures: Bold, Calm, Modest, Timid, Hasty, Naive, Rash, Mild.

Weedle/Kakuna/Beedrill/Mega Beedrill

Preferred Abilities:

Weedle - Shield Dust/Run Away

Kakuna - Shed Skin (Kakuna only has one ability)
Beedrill - Swarm/Sniper

Note: Swarm only takes effect when your HP is 33% or less. Sniper only has an effect if you get a critical hit and increases damage, NOT crit chance. Mega Beedrill gains the Adaptability ability once it Megaevolves.

Weedle is a sweeper and very fun attacking Pokemon. Do you like annoying the hell out of PvE trainers? Use Beedrill and poison and annoy them! This is a fast and gimmicky attacker that, once you get its megastone, it becomes an incredible PvP and PvE Pokemon. I recommend him for Story too, he’s a fun physical attacker. He's certainly not the strongest, but the Megastone is INCREDIBLY easy to get (just win 3 times in the Bug Catching Contest, same as Pinsir and Heracross). 

All best/usable natures: Jolly, Adamant, Naive, Hasty, Lonely, Naughty.

Pidgey/Pidgeotto/Pidgeot/Mega Pidgeot

Preferred Abilities:

Keen Eye/Tangled Feet/Big Pecks
Note: Keen Eye is useless in PvP (if you somehow play this without Mega). This Pokemon’s ability becomes No Guard once megaevolved, which will let you hit ANY move without ever missing.

Pidgey is either a Boss Debuffer and utility Pokemon or a Sweeper. This Pokemon is INSANE in PRO. You can either use it as a PvP sweeper that hits fast and hard (or for PvE too!) or you can make it defensive and annoying as hell for PvE content. Wanna spam Sand Attack, heal with Roost and lower your opponent’s attack with Featherdance? If you’re a degenerate, this is your choice!

Now seriously, the advantage of picking Pidgey up is that it's both a mixed attacker and a tank in PvE content thanks to its weird but interesting movepool choices.

The problem is that its movepool is not that wide, unfortunately.

All best/usable natures: Timid/Modest/Bold/Calm/Impish/CarefulNaive/Rash/Lonely/Naughty/Hasty/Mild (no, it’s not a joke, it’s an extremely flexible Pokemon for PvE)

For PVE, if possible: try Bold/Impish. You will be using Featherdance + Sandattack + Roost + an attacking move or Toxic. This set can be used to cheese ANY physical attacker that is giving you trouble during story.

Rattata/Raticate/Alolan Rattata/Raticate

Preferred Abilities:

Run Away/Guts/Hustle
Alolan: Gluttony/Thick Fat/Hustle

Note: Run Away has no effect in battle. Hustle’s accuracy decrease is ignored by moves that never miss (Faint Attack, Aerial Ace). However, accuracy moves and drops are currently Bugged, so be careful. It might still miss. Guts will increase your attack if you have a status condition. Alolan forms are complete trash.

Rattata is a sweeper. This Pokemon is extremely underrated. A Guts Rattata is amazing for story, hits extremely hard and, if you have a level 80 RATTATA (not Raticate) that you caught, you will be able to access Hoenn. You’ll have to get a Rattata sooner or later anyway. Rattatas are also used to cheese PvE content by abusing the combination of Focus Sash + Endeavor + Sucker Punch or Quick Attack. Whenever you are struggling in a PvE boss or fight, you should try this combination. Endeavor makes it so that your opponent's current HP is reduced to the same current HP you have. With a Focus Sash, if you are hit at full HP, you will always survive it with 1 HP. Then, with Endeavor, you reduce the opponent's HP to 1. Now you Quick Attack or Sucker Punch and the opponent faints. Raticate in general (with Guts) will run over anything in story when it's statused.

Spearow/Fearow

Preferred Abilities:

Keen Eye/Sniper
Note: Keen Eye is useless in PvP because precision lowering moves are banned there. Sniper increases the damage dealt by critical hits.

Spearow is a sweeper. This Pokemon is also severely underrated, its movepool is decent and hits pretty hard for story. To be honest, it’s not bad, it’s just that any other Flying Type is more interesting. Nonetheless, give this little bird a try. It’s just a physical cute attacker. Fearow is VERY easy to level up thanks to its decent PvE movepool and if you get lucky enough to get a Sniper one in story, you can use Focus Energy + any attack to deal very high damage critical hits. It also gets Roost and Drill Run, so even Rock/Steel/Electric types will get wrecked.

Ekans/Arbok

Preferred Abilities:

Intimidate/Shed Skin/Unnerve
Note: Unnerve only affects the enemy, not yourself. It disables their berry usage completely. Intimidate lowers the opponent’s Attack stat. Shed Skin heals up any status condition randomly during battle.

Ekans is an utility Pokemon. This is another underrated and amazing Pokemon. It learns Glare, can lower the Pokemon’s attack with Intimidate, and its Type coverage is amazing thanks to the fact that Arbok can relearn the elemental fangs (Ice, Fire and Electric). Also, reliable poison is always nice to have! Arbok is amazing thanks to its ability to inflict any status in the game (as far as I know, except sleep). With the elemental fangs and Toxic you can inflict everything except Sleep. It's a very useful status setter for PvE to capture wild pokemon or cheese fights. It also gets access to Crunch.

Intimidate/Shed Skin: Impish/Careful/Relaxed/Sassy/Jolly/Adamant

Pichu/Pikachu/Raichu/Alolan Raichu/Mega Raichu Y/Mega Raichu X/all the trillion Pikachu forms.

Alolan’s only ability: Surge Surfer

Mega Raichu X's ability is Electric Surge

Mega Raichu Ys' ability is No Guard.
Note: Static only has effect if the opponent uses a CONTACT move on you.
Earthquake = NOT contact but physical. Tackle = CONTACT AND physical.

Lightningrod gives you a SpATK boost every time you are hit by an Electric move AND grants you an immunity to the Type!
Note2: All of the goddamn copy and paste Pikachu forms work the same. They are like 20 different forms, but they are just Pikachu. Almost no difference.

Pichu is an utility sweeper (but it has incredibly low stats). Pikachu is a very fun to use utility/sweeping Pokemon. It learns moves like Nuzzle, which damages AND always paralyses the opponent, it’s also a good HM slave (Dig, Surf, Rock Smash, Flash!). It’s a very fun one to have. Big note here: You can obtain a Light Ball in Viridian Forest held by wild Pikachu. This DOUBLES Pikachu’s ATK and SPATK stat. Get one!

Pikachu is a decently fast and very hard hitting Pokemon for story. However, if you intend to use Pikachu, you NEED the Light Ball, because otherwise all of its stats are mediocre. You can obtain one by stealing it from the Pikachu in Viridian Forest. Raichu, its evolution, is a faster Pikachu but it hits less hard. It's a bit tankier though. I don't really recommend picking up Pikachu as a starter because you can just get one in Viridian Forest even before the first badge, as it's a bit common. Additionally, make sure that if you reach Cerulean (or any city with a Move Relearner), immediately teach it Nasty Plot later. You'll thank me later. Raichu's Mega Evolutions are unobtainable as of the day I am writing this (I might edit it later).

Once Raichu's megaevolutions are released, it will be an absolute monster and you won't have to only run Pikachu for PvE. Raichu Y hits like a TRUCK and you cannot miss Thunder, Focus Blast or Zap Cannon. Mega X is just fine as a physical attacker.

Sandshrew is an HM Slave and Tank. Extremely underrated Pokemon. This Pokemon can poison opponents, set himself up to sweep with Swords Dance, his moveset looks gimmicky but he actually covers ALL of his weaknesses (except Water lmao). It’s an extremely good Pokemon for story. It’s also one of the few Pokemon that learns DIG via level up.

Sandslash is a very useful option for PvE content, it is capable of cheesing many fights by spamming Dig, Fury Cutter and boosting itself with Swords Dance. I recommend this guy for Kanto Story. Since it's also only Ground type, its weaknesses are minor. (Grass, Ice and Water).

Alolan Sandslash is basically an Ice Type Sandslash. However, it has big weaknesses (4 times to Fighting, 4 to Fire, 2 to Ground). This version is often used offensively because its defensive capabilities are terrible.

Sand Veil: Impish/Careful/Relaxed/Sassy/Adamant/Brave

^Hustle will cripple your Accuracy in exchange for having an amazing Nidoqueen ability: Sheer Force. Poison Point is generally the more reliable one when it comes to just applying status and damage over time. Rivalry is almost useless. If you are willing to train one with its garbage Hustle ability, you will be rewarded with its best ability, Sheer Force. It is risky, but I do recommend you try to level up a Hustle Nidoran Female until level 16, and you can then use a Moon Stone in Mt Moon (it is easily findable close to the entrance) to evolve it into Nidoqueen. Hustle will make you sometimes miss some physical moves.

Nidoran is a sweeper and HM Slave. Nidoqueen and Nidoking learn such an absurd amount of useful moves that it does not make sense. Flamethrower, Surf, Ice Beam, Earthquake. WHY. I don’t even understand why. They’re both amazing PvE choices. Please, USE THEM. Nidoqueen is a bit tankier than Nidoking, but Nidoking has higher ATK and SPATK. Your choice.

Poison Point: Impish/Careful/Bold/Relaxed/Sassy/Adamant/Brave

Hustle/Rivalry/Sheer Force: Timid/Naive/Adamant/Modest/Rash/Naughty/Impish/Lonely/Hasty/Mild

Nidoran(M)/Nidorino/Nidoking

Preferred Abilities:

Nidoran and Nidorino: Poison Point/Rivalry/Hustle

Nidoking: Poison Point/Rivalry/Sheer Force

Nidoran is a sweeper and HM Slave.

Note: Rivalry is good too for Nidoking, but ONLY on PvE Content. Nidoking is just a goddamn monster. If you manage to get a Hustle Nidoran, congratulations because you just hit jackpot. That useless ability (I mean, it’s not useless, you get a 50% attack increase, but 20% of your moves will miss) becomes Sheer Force once fully evolved.

Sheer Force powers up MOST moves that have a secondary effect, but this secondary effect WILL NOT HAPPEN. Flamethrower now deals more damage but does not burn, Poison Jab hits hard but does not poison, and so on. Nidoking hits HARD, like a TRUCK and it’s amazing for PvP and PvE content.

Note: Nidoking is way worse than Nidoqueen in defensive terms, that’s why its natures are used for all abilities.

Note: FRIEND GUARD HAS NO EFFECT SINCE THERE'S NO DOUBLE BATTLES IN PRO... However, when the Pokemon evolves into Clefable, it becomes Unaware, a godly ability.

Cleffa and its evos are utility Pokemon that can fulfill literally any role. Magic Guard is insane, you don’t get damaged by Burn, Poison, entry hazards (Stealth Rocks and others) and Hail or Sandstorm. Both Unaware and Magic Guard are absurd.

This Pokemon is one of the best in existence, the amount of moves it learns sounds like a joke, but it nearly competes with Mew (aside from Smeargle, who is basically on steroids). Please PLEASE. Get a Clefable. Anytime. Anywhere. This Pokemon is absurd. It is a HM slave, a self setup tank, a support, a sweeper, whatever you want.

If it wasn't enough, now it also has a Mega Evolution in Mega Clefable, which is Fairy/Flying! Although the Flying type barely gives it anything good (it adds some resistances, weaknesses and an immunity) because its only reliable damaging move is Air Slash.

Note: You should use Modest and Timid with Magic Guard only.

Mega Clefable: Timid, Modest, Bold or Calm. 

Vulpix/Ninetales/Alolan Vulpix/Ninetales

Note: Flash Fire only powers up the next Fire Type attack move you will use after you have been hit by a Fire Type move (and you will absorb it). Think of it as a UNO reverse card. Drought summons sun in battle. PRAISE THE SUN.
Note 2: Snow Warning summons Hail, Snow Cloak raises evasion during Hail.

Vulpix is a sweeper. Haha Fire go brrr. Does not do much in PvE honestly, it just throws Fire at things. It looks cute I guess. It’s a good Sun Setter, the Alolan version is much, MUCH better, as it’s the better and only PvP viable Hail Setter. In PvE it is amazing if you capture one with its Hidden Ability. Otherwise it’s just your standard cute Fire Type.

Igglybuff/Jigglypuff/Wigglytuff

Competitive is his only ability. This Pokemon learns very nice utility moves AND (for some reason) learns insanely good Specially Attacking moves (like Flamethrower, Thunderbolt and so on). No idea why, honestly. Use this Pokemon as both an utiility Pokemon (with Sing) with decent defensive capabilities and a Special Attacker (Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Moonblast, Flamethrower, and so on).

All best/usable natures: Bold/Calm/Modest/Brave//Bold/Relaxed/Sassy/Quiet

Zubat/Golbat/Crobat

Preferred Abilities:

Inner Focus/Infiltrator

Note: Both are amazing abilities. Their utility depends on the situation though. Inner Focus = Tanky Eviolite Golbat / Tanky Crobat. Infiltrator = haha Brave Bird go brrrr

Zubat is both a tank and a sweeper. Golbat was supposed to be the final stage of Zubat in Generation 1, so it has the stats of a fully evolved form. However, since it can still evolve, it can equip Eviolite, and now it gains a 50% increase in Defense and Special Defense. Add that this Pokemon is fast, tanky, heals with Roost, uses Taunt, Toxic, and can Air Slash you to death, set up with Nasty Plot, heal with Giga Drain, poison you with Sludge Bomb…

Ah, and we’re not done yet. You can also decide to fully evolve it into Crobat, which is basically a cave bat, but with a torpedo equipped, boasting 130 base speed. Literal jet pack, competing in speed with most Megas. It’s incredibly fast and it’s a very useful Pokemon for story.

Golbat: Inner Focus: Bold/Calm/Timid

Crobat: Infiltrator: Jolly/Timid/Naive/Hasty/Adamant/Modest/Naughty/Lonely/Rash/Mild

Oddish/Gloom/Vileplume/Bellossom

Preferred Abilities:

Debatable: Run Away does nothing in battle, Chlorophyl does nothing unless Sun is up. However, when Oddish fully evolves into Vileplume (Gloom > Leaf Stone), Run Away becomes Effect Spore, which is really useful for Tanky Vileplume. Offensive Vileplume is better with Chlorophyl though.
As an extra note, Effect Spore can troll us and put the wrong status on the enemy Pokemon.

Oddish is a tank and utility Pokemon.

Vileplume is a really nice story Pokemon to have. You heal yourself, your allies (Aromatherapy), you Paralyse, make your opponent fall asleep or poison them, and keep attacking while healing. Your choice! This is very similar to Bulbasaur. However, Vileplume is way slower and a bit tankier, it's a really nice utility pokemon to use. It helps you status things and defeat them.

Oddish to Bellossom:
Chlorophyl/Run Away
Chlorophyl/Healer

No debate here. Bellossom is almost purely offensive and Run Away becomes Healer, an ability currently 100% useless in PRO, as it doesn’t work since double battles are not implemented. Bellossom is a really fun Pokemon for Story too. It is an amazing pokemon to sweep story and Elite 4 thanks to its move Quiver Dance and its decent Special Attacks.

Vileplume: Bold/Calm/Modest/Quiet/Timid/Relaxed/Sassy

Note: Don’t use Chlorophyl and Relaxed/Sassy.

Paras/Parasect

Note: Effect Spore can troll you and poison the enemy when you want to paralyse them, for example.
Damp is useful to hunt Pokemon that spam self-destructing move.
Dry Skin makes you completely immune against Water Types.

Paras is an HM Slave.

Parasect is one of the best HM Slaves (if not the best) in PRO. It will allow you to powerlevel practically any Pokemon and it will help you catch Pokemon with the combination of Stun Spore, Spore, False Swipe and any other utility move. It also learns a few useful HM! Get a few Dry Skin Paras for your adventure. It is an amazing utility pokemon you should always have around.

Venonat/Venomoth

Note: The only actually useful in-battle ability is Tinted Lens, which is insane, as it nullifies some of the enemies resistances to your moves (not IMMUNITIES, however).

Venonat is an utility Pokemon and HM Slave. Also, sweeper. Compoundeyes could be okay if you use Venomoth as support and Wonder Skin is a weird meme for PvE where you use this ability to Baton Pass more safely against Bosses.

Venomoth is like Butterfree, but on steroids. Tinted Lens allows it to hit anything, it learns Quiver Dance, which boosts your Speed, Special Defense and Special Attack without any drawbacks (what stuff was Gamefreak taking when they made this move), Roost to heal itself up and then you can stick it with two other moves to sweep anything! I don’t even understand why they made this Pokemon so good. It’s also like Butterfree, so you can use it to catch Pokemon. Tinted Lens also helps you hit harder against pokemon that would normally resist you!

Diglett/Dugtrio/Alolan Diglett/Dugtrio

Preferred Abilities:

Sand Veil/Arena Trap/Sand Force

Note: Arena Trap is the best ability, but it’s banned in PvP. Sand Veil is a gimmick ability that will make Diglett and Dugtrio dodge some key hits, and Sand Force will make it hit like a truck. Arena Trap is really useful to hunt Abra!
Note 2: Alolan is very weird. Sand Force will power up some of your attacks during Sandstorm. Tangling Hair will make the opponents speed lower if they contact you. It’s a bit weird, to be honest.

Diglett is a sweeper. Dugtrio is mainly used to cheese certain gyms and to storm through certain places while not using a single brain cell to strategise. Having trouble with Koga? Just spam Earthquake! Having trouble with Sabrina? Just Sucker Punch! Having trouble with Blaine? Earthquake. Having trouble with Giovanni? JUST SUCKER PUNCH. Dugtrio is frail as a paper but hits really hard.

Dugtrio is honestly a very fun and fast sweeper for Story. It doesn’t learn the best moves, but hell yea is it good. Also, Arena Trap prevents wild Abra from using Teleport. Have fun!

Meowth/Persian/Alolan Meowth/Persian/Galarian Meowth/Perrserker

Meowth is a sweeper. UNFORTUNATELY, since neither Pickup or Pay Day are coded, this Pokemon IS A GODDAMN POTATO. You could combine both in the original games to obtain items AND money every single fight, which was incredible. In PRO you cannot do this. Thus, use Technician to boost your weak moves! It’s a fun gimmicky Pokemon. Also, it’s a cat, so it’s cute.

In PRO, there's also a way to use Persian. You can use him as a fast support pokemon thanks to its access to Taunt, Fake Out, and debuffing moves like Growl and other stuff. So basically: this dude is really fast, hits slightly okay, and is mostly used for utility and support.

All best/usable natures: Jolly/Adamant/Naive/Hasty/Naughty/Lonely/Timid/Modest/Rash/Mild

If you use Perrserker, the most preferable would be Adamant. It changes how the pokemon is used, as it drops its speed a lot to boost its ATK and defensive stats.

Perrserker hits like a truck but it's not really good.

Psyduck/Golduck

Preferred Abilities:
Damp/Cloud Nine/Swift Swim
Note: All three abilities are amazing. Damp is used to hunt Pokemon like Pineco who use Selfdestruct (this prevents that they use this move, it blocks it completely). Cloud Nine completely counters Weather Abusing Pokemon as it cancels the effects of weather, and Swift Swim doubles its speed in battle when Rain is up.

Psyduck is an utility Pokemon. It learns Soak, which is used to make any Pokemon become a Water Type Pokemon. This is used to False Swipe Ghosts. It’s also infamous for being able to solo 1 v 1 a GROUDON. A GROUDON. A radioactive, mutated blue duck faces THE LITERAL GODDAMN SUN GOD, that summons VOLCANOS AND ETERNAL DROUGHT. And a five foot tall blue radioactive duck CAN 1 V 1 IT.

On a more serious note, Golduck can be a really useful pokemon for story as a special sweeper!

Mankey/Primeape/Annihilape

Mankey is a sweeper. Mankey hits hard. That’s all it does. Nothing special. It basically hits pretty hard with physical attacks and there's no other gimmick to it. I love it though! It is VERY useful for story and Elite 4 fights. This is the faster but more frail option to Machamp.

Growlithe/Arcanine

Growlithe is a sweeper and tanky Pokemon. Growlithe is amazing for story. It learns utility moves, can burn enemies or can just sweep through them! You can choose to make it tanky or offensive. Nice! I highly recommend you train up a Growlithe, it’s a very good Fire Type sweeper. I recommend you use it as it is pretty tanky and is really useful, honestly. It hits both on the physical and the special side.

Intimidate: Impish/Adamant/Jolly/Naive/Naughty
Flash Fire/Defiant: Adamant/Jolly/Naive/Hasty/Naughty/Lonely/Rash/Mild

Poliwag/Poliwhirl/Poliwrath/Politoed

Preferred Abilities:

Poliwag to Politoed: Water Absorb/Damp/Drizzle
Note: Water Absorb and Damp are really useful to capture specific Pokemon Types (Water Types and Pokemon that spam Explosion/Selfdestruct). However, Swift Swim is always the best choice, as it stays Swift Swim as Poliwrath or becomes Drizzle in Politoed.

Poliwag and evos are tanky and useful for sweeping.

Poliwrath is a cute and tanky physical attacker with some utility moves. Politoed is the same but on the specially attacking side. Politoed can summon rain with Drizzle, and Poliwrath is an extremely fun physical sweeper that sometimes terrorises PvP. One of the problems with both evolutions is that their movesets are a bit terrible.

Don't expect them to be a magical solution to everything but they are both really good Water types.

Poliwrath: Adamant/Jolly/Brave/Relaxed/Sassy/Impish/Careful/Naughty/Naive/Hasty/Lonely
Politoed: Modest/Timid/Bold/Calm/Hasty/Naive/Timid/Rash/Mild
Note: don’t run Relaxed, Sassy or Brave with Swift Swim.

Abra/Kadabra/Alakazam/Mega Alakazam

Preferred Abilities:

Inner Focus/Synchronise/Magic Guard

Note: Magic Guard is by far the best, it gives you immunity to Hazards, Weather damage, Poison and Burn and more. Inner Focus has some weird gimmicks for Bosses/PVP. Synchronise is the best ability to hunt wild Pokemon and to find Pokemon with the same nature as your Abra/evos. Choose wisely!
Once you megaevolve, you gain the Trace ability, which copies an opponent’s ability.

Abra is a sweeper. Alakazam hits EXTREMELY hard and destroys anything PVE related. However, Abra cannot fight by itself unless you teach it TM Psychic (from Saffron Gym) or other TMs you learn around. You could also switch train it until it evolves to Kadabra. Your choice! After it evolves, it hits like a truck. Mega Alakazam is an insane PvP Pokemon. I really recommend you get an Abra for story, but keep in mind that you need to either switch train it to be able to level it up or to wait until the Saffron Gym is beaten and teach it TM Psychic. Either evolve it at 16 to Kadabra or wait until the 6th badge is beaten.

Machop/Machoke/Machamp

Preferred Abilities:
No Guard/Guts/Steadfast
Note: Steadfast is borderline useless. The other two abilities are amazing (specially No Guard, which makes you NEVER miss any attacks).

Machop is a sweeper. Machamp is VERY fun to use, it’s simply a no-brainer. You click a move and it hits hard. That’s everything you need to know! Machamp is used to cheese and run over most Elite 4 thanks to its 100% accurate DynamicPunch, and overall, MUSCLES. Guts also powers your ATK up if you accidentally (or intentionally) get statused! Machamp is an extremely strong physical attacker and I REALLY recommend you get one. It helps in many Elite 4 fights and it also helps with quests.

Bellsprout/Weepinbell/Victreebel

Note: Gluttony is useless, or borderline useless. Chlorophyl is amazing, but will only activate under sunny weather.

Bellsprout is a sweeper. Bellsprout is the more offensive version of Oddish (by more I mean WAY more). Bellsprout can be a physical, special or mixed sweeper. Use him to attack as you will! This is Bulbasaur, but more offensive than it. This is basically better used as a physical or mixed attacker for story. It is not very strong but it's not weak either.

Tentacool/Tentacruel

Preferred Abilities:

Liquid Ooze/Clear Body/Rain Dish

Note: Rain Dish is fine, but only works in rainy weather.
 

Tentacool is an utility tanky HM Slave. Tentacool is able to learn a lot of moves and utility moves that will carry you through several fights. Toxic Spikes is an amazing tool in Gym Fights and important fights as Poison damage will quickly rack up turn by turn as you get through long and hard battles. Its movepool is also diverse, so you will be able to teach it Ice, Poison, Water and other moves. It’s also pretty tanky. I really, really, REALLY recommend that this is your go-to Water Type for story.

Geodude/Graveler/Golem
Alolan Geodude/Graveler/Golem

Preferred Abilities:
Sturdy/Rock Head/Sand Veil
Alola: Galvanize/Magnet Pull/Sturdy
Note: Sturdy is AMAZING. It works like a Focus Sash, and it is used to cheese many, MANY story fights. Please, get your Sturdy Geodudes! Rock Head is barely useful, it only works with Double-Edge. Sand Veil only works under sandstorm.

In Geodude Alola and evolutions, Galvanize can be a cheese and nice ability to make your Normal Type attacks Electric Type (such as Tackle, Double-Edge or Explosion). They also gain a small boost. Magnet Pull is amazing to trap enemy Steel Types and Earthquake them without allowing them to escape. Sturdy is also nice.

Keep in mind this pokemon is very rare and hard to obtain currently in PRO. It currently only sees usage with Magnet Pull, if ever.

Geodude is an utility tanky Pokemon. Geodude is one of the best Pokemon in PRO due to its ability to cheese specific Story fights that are otherwise near impossible. Geodude’s Sturdy allows it to live any attack as long as it’s at full HP. You can teach Geodude very specific moves to be able to beat any Story fight. For example, many people struggle to beat Deoxys and Giratina (spoiler alert). If you are stuck against them, you can teach your Geodude Toxic.

Since Sturdy will allow it to live a hit, you can use this chance to poison Deoxys and then keep healing Geodude to full health until Toxic faints Deoxys or Giratina. Keep in mind Sturdy will trigger infinitely as long as your Geodude is at full HP! You can also use Geodude’s extra chance to live to stall out Leech Seed, Poison or Burn turns (or Curse and Sandstorm) to wear down an opponent slowly.

Geodude and its evolutions basically are great support pokemon to cheese really hard fights in story, but they're also great sweepers for story thanks to its ability Sturdy, the access to Rock Polish to double its speed and then they get an amazing movepool via level up. Always consider it for your team!

Ponyta/Rapidash/Galar Ponyta and Rapidash (unreleased)

Preferred Abilities:
Run Away/Flash Fire/Flame Body

Note: Jesus its abilities are a meme lmao. Run Away does nothing in battle, it’s already fast enough naturally to escape from most fights. Flame Body is borderline useless, but Flash Fire for an extra immunity is nice I guess.

Ponyta is a sweeper. It hits hard and it has a decent movepool. It’s also cute. Unfortunately, that’s the end of it. Nothing really special about it lmao. I’m sorry I don’t have as much to write on Ponyta as with other Pokemon, but it’s overall a mediocre Fire Type. It has a decent coverage movepool, but it lacks the stats to back it up. Also, its abilities are TERRIBLE for an offensive Pokemon. This is basically the cute alternative to Arcanine. If you like cute ponies and horses, use this I guess.

Slowpoke/Slowbro/Slowking/Mega Slowbro/Slowbro and Slowking Galar (unreleased)

Preferred Abilities:

Own Tempo/Oblivious/Regenerator

Note: Own Tempo prevents you from being confused. This ability is only really useful against Lance Boss, where you use Slowbro to set up against him. It’s borderline useless. Oblivious is also a bit gimmicky, it makes you immune to the move Taunt and Infatuation (infatuation is not coded in PRO though). Regenerator is AMAZING, it makes you restore 33% of your max HP every time you switch out in battle. Mega Slowbro gains Shell Armor when megaevolved.

Slowpoke is a tanky sweeper. Slowbro and Slowking are insane PvP and PvE Pokemon. These two are some of the best and easiest Pokemon to farm in PRO. Slowbro and Slowking are Setup Sweepers that can sweep entire bosses alone thanks to their moveset (heal with Slack Off, boost with Iron Defense and Calm Mind and then attack and kill). They’re also extremely useful for story and other PvE content. In PvP, Slowbro and Slowking are tanky attackers that soak hits like nothing and heal up with Regenerator. I hugely suggest you get a Slowbro for story. It’s an amazing lategame Pokemon! Slowbro is the easier option to find in story. It's capable of running through whole regions by himself. I REALLY recommend you get a Slowbro for story.

Magnemite/Magneton/Magnezone

Preferred Abilities:
Magnet Pull/Sturdy/Analytic
Note: all three abilities for Magnemite and evos are AMAZING. However, they have different purposes.
 

Magnet Pull is used to trap other Steel Type Pokemon in PvP and to defeat them without letting them escape. This is the most preferred ability. Sturdy is a free Focus Sash, this is used in PvE and Story to cheese certain fights (like Mewtwo, Giratina, Deoxys). Sturdy is the best PvE oriented one. Analytic is a weird ability that will make you deal extra damage against the opponent if they are faster than you. Since Magnezone is pretty slow, it can work fine.

Magnemite is a tanky sweeper. Like Geodude, it is used for utility and attacking in Story and PvE content. Thunder Wave + Sturdy allows you to always get something paralised and then that enables you to cheese any story difficulty part that you might’ve been stuck in. Also, Magnezone hits VERY hard. Extremely recommended Pokemon for Story. (Also, it’s a very good PvP Pokemon)

Similarly to Geodude, imagine this is a specially attacking Geodude that also has great specially attacking options but can help you cheese many fights in story. Really recommended pokemon.

Farfetch’d/ Galar Farfetch’d and Sirfetch’d (unreleased)

Preferred Abilities:

Keen Eye/Inner Focus/Defiant
Note: Inner Focus is amazing for PvE as it allows Farfetch’d to be a good False Swiper immune to flinches against Golbats to level up your Pokemon in caves. Defiant is way better for PvP as it sharply raises your ATK stat when you get debuffed. (If you PvP with Farfetch’d though, are you okay?)

Farfetch’d is a sweeper and utility Pokemon. Farfetch’d is EXTREMELY underrated. Farfetch’d learns False Swipe via level up, which allows you to use it as a Pokemon Catching tool, as you can spam False Swipe on a wild Pokemon to catch it easier. It also learns Sand Attack, Roost and Growl, very good utility moves for it. You can also use it to train other weaker Pokemon. Furthermore, its movepool is surprisingly good, so use it if you wish! Use Farfetch'd mainly as a pokemon to catch other pokemon during story. Its movepool is also incredible for story (Leaf Blade, Night Slash and so on), it just doesn't have great stats.

Doduo/Dodrio

Preferred Abilities:

Run Away/Early Bird/Tangled Feet

Note: Doduo’s abilities are a meme. Early Bird or Tangled Feet will work fine, Run Away has no effect in battle.

Doduo is a sweeper. It just hits hard. There’s nothing else to comment on it, it’s actually a really good PvE Flying Pokemon. Fun fact: this Pokemon is faster than Rayquaza (for some reason). It speed ties with Latios, Mega Metagross, Mega Diancie and Gengar. Yes, you read that right. Dodrio is extremely fun for PvE and Story, it’s just often very overlooked. This Pokemon is fun to use. Give it a try!

Seel/Dewgong

Preferred Abilities:

Thick Fat/Hydration/Ice Body
Note: Thick Fat will grant him a Fire resistance though, which is appreciated, because its Ice Type grants it a neutrality as if it remained Water only it’d resist it. Hydration is VERY nice under Rain, as it makes it heal from any status. Ice Body is really nice under Hail, as it heals every turn.

Seel is a tanky attacker. It is cute and just attacks. And throws ice at things. That’s about it. It also has some utility moves. It’s a very good option for the Kanto Elite 4 because it’s very tanky and you can spam Ice Beam onto Lance, while also having access to Surf. There's honestly not much to say about Dewgong because in the same generation Lapras was released which completely outclasses it.

Grimer/Muk/Alolan Grimer/Muk

Preferred Abilities:
Stench/Sticky Hold/Poison Touch
Alolan: Gluttony/Poison Touch/Power of Alchemy
Note: Grimer/Muk (and not Alolan) is a purely gimmicky Pokemon. Its three abilities are a bit of a meme but they all can find some usage. Stench makes it able to flinch the enemy Pokemon sometimes, Poison Touch will make the opponent get poisoned when you physically contact it sometimes (this is the clearly more useful ability), and Sticky Hold makes it so that its item cannot be stolen/removed.

Same goes with Alolan: Gluttony is not really useful, Power of Alchemy is a dead ability since we have no double battles and Poison Touch will help you poison opponents!

Grimer is a tanky attacker. It’s honestly really fun to use for Story and it’s pretty tanky, so I recommend it. It also has a decent movepool. Alolan Muk is a nice addition you can stick onto many balanced or slow teams.

Shellder/Cloyster

Preferred Abilities:
Shell Armor/Skill Link/Overcoat

Note: Skill Link makes Cloyster a BROKEN killing machine and Boss sweeping monster in both PvP and PvE Content. Shell Armor and Overcoat are only okay in gimmicky PvE sets against certain bosses. Skill Link will make its multi-hit moves ALWAYS HIT FIVE TIMES.

Shellder is a sweeper. Cloyster (its evolution) is an absolute monster. It gets the most broken setup move in Pokemon (Shell Smash), which DOUBLES its Speed, Attack and Special Attack. This allows it to solo entire bosses without ANY external help. It also steamrolls through story if you manage to get with one. It’s also an amazing sweeper for PvP that will infuriate your opponents as they see how they’re just run over by Cloyster with no counterplay at all. This is an amazing Pokemon with Skill Link!

Gastly/Haunter/Gengar/Mega Gengar

Preferred Abilities:

Only has Levitate lol. Becomes Cursed Body on Gengar. Becomes Shadow Tag on Mega Gengar.
Note: RIP LEVITATE, Gen 3-6, will always be remembered.

Gastly is a sweeper. It is one of the best if not the best PvE Pokemon in PRO. This is due to how easy it is to find, farm for a good nature and decent IVs, good movepool, how easy it is to level up and specifically EV train for either PvP, PvE, Bosses, Story or ANY Type of content. Gengar is the best PvE Pokemon, and there’s no one that comes close. Always have a PvP Trained one, a Boss one and a PvE rushing one!

Onix/Steelix/Mega Steelix

Preferred Abilities:
Sturdy/Rock Head/Weak Armor
Sturdy/Rock Head/Sheer Force

Note: Sturdy is a free Focus Sash. Sheer Force is a bit of a meme, it does not really need it, it’s a defensive Pokemon. When it megaevolves it gets Sand Force, which powers up some of its moves under Sandstorm.

Onix is a tanky attacker. Onix is extremely fun to use, provides great utility with Stealth Rocks, can summon sandstorm and it is a tanky option for Story and PvE content. It’s a bit bad in PvP, but still fun to use nonetheless. For PvE, this thing is an absolute beast, as it learns Stealth Rock early, it gets Sturdy and massive defensive stats. You can use one for both Kanto and Johto story.

Drowzee/Hypno

Preferred Abilities:

Insomnia/Forewarn/Inner Focus
Note: this is a meme Pokemon with barely any usage. Use it as a defensively attacking tool. Inner Focus is preferred to prevent flinches, or Insomnia to be immune to Sleep. Forewarn is a meme to check enemies’ attacks.

Drowzee is a tanky attacker. The only way to use this thing is as an utility Pokemon for PvE content. This Pokemon is garbage in PvP but it is good for story. It can poison the opponent, paralyse them or make them fall asleep, in addition to learning the elemental punches. This is one of the only Pokemon in existence that is capable of inflicting any status affliction. It’s a decently tanky mixed attacker combined with utility. It’s often ignored because it’s not a popular Pokemon, but I recommend you try one for story.

Krabby/Kingler

Preferred Abilities:

Note: Hyper Cutter allows it to disable possible ATK drops. Sheer Force powers its already disgustingly powerful moves, and Shell Armor enables it to be a good boss sweeper on Baton Pass Teams.
 

Krabby is a tanky attacker. This thing hits VERY hard and it’s very cool to use for Story and PvE content. It’s a very loved meme Pokemon. It has a BIG HAND. BIG CLAW. BIG CLAW GO PEW PEW. Look at me, I crabhammer everything! It’s honestly a really funny Pokemon to use. Try it out! It’s a cool physical attacker for PvE content. Some madmen also use it in PvP. The only problem this thing has is its GARBAGE movepool.

Note: Shell Armor is only for PvE content, but it has an amazing gimmick there. Since it protects you from critical hits, you have an extra layer of defense!

Voltorb/Electrode

Preferred Abilities:
Soundproof/Static/Aftermath

Note: Soundproof is AMAZING to disable MANY moves the opponent might try to use (Sing, Perish Song, etc). Disables all enemy Sound based moves. Static might leave the opponent paralysed upon contact. Aftermath only damages the opponent if he defeated you with a contact move. Gimmicky as hell.
 

Voltorb is an utility attacker. Voltorb is also a Boss Debuffer, it is incredibly fast, can set up Reflect and Light Screen, paralyse with Thunder Wave, debuff with Screech and Metal Sound and Eerie Impulse. It’s a fun attacker and support Pokemon. You should get one to be able to Debuff bosses or to cheese the Sinnoh Entrance quest.

Exeggcute/Exeggcutor/Alolan Exeggutor

Alolan: Frisk/Harvest

Note: Chlorophyl is only available to normal Exeggutor and doubles its speed. Harvest allows you to recover a used item in battle. Frisk can be used to scout what the opponent’s item is being run in PvP OR to find what wild Pokemon is carrying what item. Harvest requires a lot of skill to use.

Exeggcute is an utility sweeper. I love this thing. It has really high stats for an unevolved form in Kanto and it can be found in the starting town (Pallet Town) while headbutting. I REALLY recommend this thing for begginers. It hits hard and learns many utility moves. It also looks fun. I don’t know, just look at Exeggutor, it looks like it’s either in pain or living the best time of his life (just like Ludicolo, basically)

Cubone/Marowak/Alolan Marowak

Note: Rock Head is okay, makes its Double-Edge not damage itself (or Flare Blitz in alolan). Defensive natures only work with normal Marowak. Battle Armor prevents being critically struck.

Cubone is an utility false swiper and tanky sweeper. It’s a very tanky attacker for story. If you happen to find a Thick Club, Cubone’s ATK doubles once you equip this item onto him. I highly suggest you equip Cubone with this item to hit very hard! Also, he learn False Swipe at level 27. This is one of the earliest (actually the earliest, after the third badge) False Swiper obtainable in PRO.

Tyrogue/Hitmonlee/Hitmonchan/Hitmontop

Preferred Abilities:

Tyrogue: Guts/Steadfast/Vital Spirit

Hitmonlee: Limber/Reckless/Unburden
Hitmonchan: Keen Eye/Iron Fist/Inner Focus
Hitmontop: Intimidate/Technician/Steadfast

Note: Tyrogue can evolve into these three depending on:
ATK > DEF = Hitmonlee. Hitmonlee wants Reckless (increases the damage of moves that can damage yourself like Hi Jump Kick, Jump Kick, Double-Edge, etc) or Unburden (if the item that you are holding is consumed, your SPEED DOUBLES.).
ATK<DEF = Hitmonchan. You only want Iron Fist. ALL Fist/Punch related moves (and some extra ones) get their damage boosted by a LOT.
ATK=DEF= Hitmontop. Intimidate helps it counter physical attackers. It’s an utility tanky attacker. Technician can also be okay to hit harder.

All evos are sweepers, but Hitmontop is the tankiest one. In my personal preference, for newbies:
Hitmonchan > Hitmonlee > Hitmontop

For experienced players that use tactics:

Hitmontop > Hitmonlee > Hitmonchan.

For players that just want to kill things without thinking:

Hitmonlee > Hitmonchan > Hitmontop

For newbies, Hitmonchan learns the elemental punches, which allows you to attack anything super effectively. Hitmonlee just hits hard. Hitmontop is harder to use, it’s a semi debuffer and annoying attacker.

Lickitung/Lickylicky

Note: Cloud Nine completely disables ALL Weather effects in battle. I don’t understand why Lickylicky gets this ability, but it’s fun and useful.

Lickitung is a tanky attacker. This Pokemon is very weird. Its stats are decent, it’s bulky, and his ability is very useful. But it has nothing special that really deserves its use. It’s fun in appearance, but it’s overall mediocre (outside of his abilities), it has good stats but nothing special. It has a decent movepool to be considered for Story, but I’ve NEVER seen anyone use it.

Koffing/Weezing/Galar Weezing (unreleased)

Preferred Abilities:

Levitate (only ability)
Note: Free immunity to Ground Type attacks, yay.

Koffing is a tanky utility Pokemon. It only has one weakness, Psychic, which is amazing! It’s very useful, learns cool moves (like Flamethrower) and gives great utility in story. Use it! It learns many defensive utility moves (Destiny Bond, Memento, Toxic) but also has coverage moves to defend itself.

Rhyhorn/Rhydon/Rhyperior

Preferred Abilities:

Rhyhorn/Rhydon: Rock Head/Lightningrod/Reckless

Rhyperior: Solid Rock/Lightningrod/Reckless

Rhyperior is an extremely hard hitting physical obscene rhynoceros that basically runs over anything in both PvE and PvP content.. On the other hand, Solid Rock slightly reduces the damage received by supereffective moves and makes it a tanky behemoth. It's a pokemon I dearly recommend. It's one of my favourites.

Happiny/Chansey/Blissey

Preferred Abilities:

Serene Grace/Natural Cure/Healer

Blissey and Chansey are probably the 2 most overpowered PvE and PvP Tanks in the game. Chansey with Eviolite is capable of soloing ANY PvE content, soloing entire bosses by itself and Blissey is an extra addition that follows the same idea. They are bulky, annoying and heal up a lot.

Tangela/Tangrowth

Preferred Abilities:
Chlorophyl/Leaf Guard/Regenerator

Note: Tangela/Tangrowth are mostly incredibly tanky Pokemon and don’t want to sweep with Chlorophyl. Leaf Guard can be nice for PvE, but Regenerator outclasses it.

Tangela is a tanky attacker. This thing is a monster in PvP. With Regenerator, it can take a hit and switch out to heal it up. In the same way, it’s amazing for PvE content. It’s very tanky, it learns annoying moves and good offensive options too. Use it! It can attack both physically and specially while being enormously tanky.

Kangaskhan

Preferred Abilities:
Early Bird/Inner Focus/Scrappy

Note: When it megaevolves, it becomes Parental Bond. Inner Focus helps it cheese specific Bosses thanks to its Flinch immunity + Endeavor + Sucker Punch Combo. Scrappy does the same against bosses like Morty.

Kangaskhan is an utility Pokemon and sweeper. It’s a bit hard to hunt for newbies but it hits pretty hard and it has a good movepol. I recommend it because it’s cute. Also, its Mega Evolution is completely broken (if it weren’t for the fact that its Megaevolution, as of writing this guide, is still not coded).

Horsea/Seadra/Kingdra

Preferred Abilities:
Swift Swim/Sniper/Damp
Poison Point/Sniper/Damp
Swift Swim/Sniper/Damp
Note: for some reason, Swift Swim becomes Poison Point on Seadra, and then becomes Swift Swim again on Kingdra. Gamefreak, why? Sniper is an amazingly abusable ability that increases the damage you deal from Critical Hits. It’s mostly a meme set, but there are ways to exploit this. Damp is almost useless.

Horsea is a sweeper. This is an AMAZING Pokemon. I SERIOUSLY recommend you use this thing. Once fully evolved, it is only weak to Dragon Type attacks, which are rare, and it hits HARD and FAST. Use it, because it’s a bread and butter Water Type! It’s a VERY solid Special Attacker under rain, but it can also be a physical attacker.

Goldeen/Seaking

Preferred Abilities:
Swift Swim/Water Veil/Lightningrod
Note: Swift Swim will double its speed in Rainy weather, Water Veil will prevent it from getting burned in Rainy weather, Lightningrod will make it immune to Electric Type attacks and will boost its SpATK by one stage each time. Water Veil is complete garbage, use any of the other two.

Golden is an utility sweeper. Remember what I said above on Horsea? This is the complete opposite. I’m sorry, Goldeen, you just suck lmao. Literally no reason to use this thing. I use it sometimes for the memes, but it just sucks compared to any other Water Type Pokemon. I have no idea how to excuse using this. If you get a Lightningrod Goldeen, you can use it against Electric Type Pokemon, since you’re now immune to them. This Pokemon used to be spammed against a specific boss years ago, but the boss is currently disabled.

Staryu/Starmie

Preferred Abilities:
Natural Cure/Illuminate/Analytic
Note: Natural Cure will make it heal any status condition and Analytic will make its attacks deal more damage if the opponent is faster than you AND if the opponent switches into your attack. The only issue with Analytic is that Starmie is VERY fast.

Staryu is a sweeper. It’s a very quick attacker and fun Pokemon to use. It learns very good moves (Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Psychic, Surf and more!). It’s just good. Stick it in any team! It gets a few defensive utility moves, but it’s mostly used as a fast sweeper.

Mime Jr/Mr Mime/Galar Mime and Rime (unreleased)

Preferred Abilities:
Soundproof/Filter/Technician
Note: It’s up to your choice. Mime is a kinda defensive/utility Pokemon, so you’d normally want Soundproof, which grants it immunity to MANY Sound related moves (Perish Song, Hyper Voice, Sing, etc), or Filter, which will make very effective moves not deal as much damage to him as they normally should. He’s only weak to Ghost, Poison and Steel Type attacks though, so it’s not very needed. Technician is okay to power up his offensive moves, but he normally uses moves that are higher than 60 Base Power.

Mr Mime is an utility Pokemon. There’s honestly not much of a way to use this thing. It looks creepy.

It looks like your uncle that went to visit you when you were a child. Honestly, this thing scares the hell out of me. Just gtfo outta there if you see this thing. It’s supposed to be a tanky attacker with weird moves. It’s just weird, it’s fun to use, but it’s too creepy. It learns some utility moves too, but most of them are still not coded in PRO.

Scyther/Scizor/Mega Scizor

Preferred Abilities:
Swarm/Technician/Steadfast
Swarm/Technician/Light Metal

Note: Technician power up all moves that have 60 or less base power by 1.5x. Thus, a move with 60 power becomes 90 power. A move with 40 power becomes 60 power. This is an amazing tool.
Steadfast/Light Metal are useless almost, but it allows Scizor to run the move Curse in PvP, which allows it to boost its ATK and DEF at the same time while reducing its already pathetic Speed. Choose wisely. When it megaevolves it gains the Technician ability (yes, again).

Scyther is a tanky utility attacker. It’s an incredible Pokemon both in PvP and PvE. It hits hard, fast, and it’s tanky. It has everything you need and if you capture a bad one, just use it as a False Swiper!

It’s an extremely hard attacker that is tanky, has access to recovery in Roost and is used practically everywhere.

Smoochum/Jynx

Preferred Abilities:
Oblivious/Forewarn/Hydration
Oblivious/Forewarn/Dry Skin

Note: Oblivious will make you immune to Taunt, so it’s a very good tool if you want to protect yourself. Dry Skin will make you heal in Rainy weather, will give you an immunity to Water Type attacks, but you will lose a bit of your max HP every turn in Sunny weather.

Smoochum is a sweeper. This Nicki Minaj lookalike hits hard and it’s fun to use. Sometimes you see a weirdo using it in PvP for years, and sometimes you never see this thing. It’s a weird but fun Pokemon.

Elekid/Electabuzz/Electivire

Preferred Abilities:
Static/Vital Spirit
Motor Drive/Vital Spirit
Note: same issue with abilities as Magby and evos. However, when it fully evolves to Electivire, Motor Drive grants it an Electric Type immunity. Thus, Static is better as it will become that ability.

Elekid is a sweeper. It has a cool design, hits hard, has a LOT of varied moves and it’s very fun to use. It’s very good in PvE. Definitely recommended.

Magby/Magmar/Magmortar

Preferred Abilities:
Flame Body/Vital Spirit
Note: Really debatable because both abilities are so damn bad lol. I guess you’d rather be immune to sleep (Vital Spirit) than have a chance to burn the opponent on contact (Flame Body). Up to you.

Magby is a sweeper. It’s very fun to use like Elekid and his evos, so use it well! It does not have a very good moveset, but it hits hard.

Pinsir

Preferred Abilities:
Hyper Cutter/Mold Breaker/Moxie
Note: these three abilities are usable. Hyper Cutter prevents the opponent from lowering your ATK stat. Mold Breaker lets you ignore MANY abilities when attacking an enemy Pokemon. Moxie allows you to get an ATK boost every time you defeat a Pokemon. When it megaevolves it gains the ability Aerilate, which makes all Normal Type moves it uses become Flying Type and gives them a boost.

Pinsir is a sweeper. Mega Pinsir is an insanely good Megaevolution. Definitely recommend that you use this thing.

Tauros/Paldean Tauros (Fighting, Fire/Fighting, Water/Fighting)

Preferred Abilities:
Intimidate/Anger Point/Sheer Force
Note: Sheer Force is amazing. It disables certain moves secondary effects (like Bulldoze’s enemy speed drop or Thunderbolt’s paralysis efect) and powers up these moves. If you equip a Life Orb AND use one of these moves with a secondary effect, you will gain an additional power up AND you will not take Recoil Damage. Intimidate can be nice to lower the opponent’s ATK stat, but Anger Point is not useful at all.

Tauros is a sweeper. Tauros attacks really fast and hard, and it’s a very fun Pokemon to use. Its movepool is big, allowing it to use physical, special and mixed attacks as they wish.

Magikarp/Gyarados

Preferred Abilities:

Swift Swim/Rattled
Intimidate/Moxie
Note: Both abilities have great usages. Intimidate is extremely useful to lower the opponent’s physical attack while we set up Dragon Dance. Moxie is great to get an Attack boost every time you defeat an opponent. When it megaevolves, it gains Mold Breaker.

Magikarp is a sweeper. Magikarp is one of the best PvE and PvP Pokemon in the game. In PvE content, you can use Gyarados to steamroll through most gyms by abusing Dragon Dance + attacking moves. In PvP, this works in a similar way. Gyarados is very hard to level up as it requires a ton of EXP, so newbies should train Magikarp as much as possible before they train Gyarados.

All best/usable natures: Jolly/Adamant/Impish/Naive/Lonely/Naughty/Hasty

Lapras

Preferred Abilities:

Water Absorb/Shell Armor/Hydration

Note: We prefer Water Absorb to heal up using the opponent’s Water Type attacks. Hydration can be nice to heal up status under rain, but Shell Armor isn’t really useful aside from protecting against critical hits.

Lapras is a tanky utility attacker. This thing is just cute and it has a decent movepool to work with. It’s a cute Pokemon that is pretty rare to catch though, so don’t expect to find him easily.

All best/usable natures: Bold/Calm/Modest/Quiet/Relaxed/Sassy/Timid

Ditto

Preferred Abilities:

Limber/Imposter

Note: Ditto is a weird Pokemon. When it transforms, it copies all stats, Type, ability and moves from the opponent except their HP stat and their Hidden Power. Imposter is preferred because it allows Ditto to immediately transform upon entering a battle without having to use Transform. Limber just makes immune to paralysis, which makes it harder to capture as you can’t paralyse it.
 

Ditto is… weird. You can basically transform into ANYTHING. This is a trump card if you are desperate against a Gym Battle or a very specific fight and you have no idea how to beat it. Transforming Ditto into something useful and then using it against the opponent is the way to go.

All best/usable natures: Relaxed (it has a niche use in PvP), but you do not need any specific nature for this Pokemon.

Eevee/Vaporeon/Flareon/Jolteon/Espeon/Umbreon/Glaceon/Leafeon/Sylveon (Oh boy, here we go)

Preferred Abilities:
Eevee: It depends on the evolution. If you choose any of the two normal abilities, Run Away or Adaptability, they will both become the same normal ability when they are evolved. If you choose the Hidden Ability, Anticipation, it will become the hidden ability when it evolves. The reason for this is that all Eevee Evolutions have 1 normal ability and 1 hidden ability.

If you want the hidden ability for a specific Eevee evolution, you need to evolve Eevee with a hidden ability. If you want a normal ability for a specific Eevee evolution, you need to evolve Eevee with a normal ability. For example, Jolteon’s best ability is Volt Absorb, its normal ability, so you must evolve a Run Away/Adaptability Eevee into Jolteon to obtain it. However, Espeon’s best ability is its hidden ability, Magic Bounce, so you must evolve an Anticipation Eevee into it.

Eevee itself:
Run Away/Adaptability/Anticipation
Note: Run Away does nothing in battle, just lets you escape. Adaptability makes it so its Same Type attacks deal DOUBLE the normal damage. Anticipation is borderline useless. It just tells you one of the opponent’s attacks.
 

Vaporeon:
Water Absorb/Hydration
Note: Debatable. Water Absorb makes you immune to Water Type attacks and heals you if you receive an attack of that Type. Hydration makes your status heal in rain.

Vaporeon is a tanky attacker. This is a very, VERY solid Water Type Pokemon for story and PvE. It barely sees any play in PvP, but it’s very underrated. It also suffers from competition as the Water Type is the Pokemon Type with the biggest variety.
 

Flareon:
Flash Fire/Guts
Note: Debatable. Flash Fire makes you immune to Fire Type attacks and will boost your next Fire Type attack if you’re struck by one. Guts increases its ATK by 50% if it is Poisoned, Burned (impossible because it’s a Fire Type, unless you first use a move like Soak on it and then Burn it), or Paralysed.
 

Flareon is a tanky attacker. Flareon is a potato. Its movepool completely sucks for an attacker, it barely learns anything good. The good factor is that its ATK stat is huge, so you can still deal a lot of damage with garbage attacks. Funny that one of its best attacking options is DIG. Freaking DIG.

Jolteon:
Volt Absorb/Quick Feet
Note: Volt Absorb makes you immune to Electric Type attacks and restores HP if struck by one. Quick Feet increases your Speed if you have a Status Condition. Quick Feet is terrible and it’s basically a dead ability unless you’re statused. Volt Absorb is amazing.
 

Jolteon is a sweeper. It’s a really fun Pokemon to use, it’s extremely fast, its Special Attack is decent, its movepool is useful for story… It’s a decent Electric Type option for your team.

Espeon:
Synchronise/Magic Bounce
Note: Synchronise is useful to catch wild Pokemon with the same nature, but you can just use Natu for that. Magic Bounce is AMAZING. It will bounce almost all status moves onto your opponent. Hazards (Spikes, Stealth Rocks, Sticky Webs, Toxic Spikes) or Status Inducers (Thunder Wave, Toxic, Will-o-Wisp).

Espeon is an utility sweeper. If you ever played Pokemon Collosseum, you’ll get a nostalgia attack here. Espeon is a fun attacker that can also learn utility moves for your team. It’s also a really good PvP Pokemon. Get one!

Umbreon:
Synchronise/Inner Focus
Note: Inner Focus all the way. As explained above! Inner Focus makes you immune to Flinches. This dude walls Togekiss extremely hard.

Umbreon is an utility Pokemon. Umbreon is one of the best PvE tanks by far. Immense DEF, SPDEF and HP make this an enormous wall for PvE content, including bosses, Elite Four and Gym Fights. It’s also a good option if you want to cheese some PvE Quests that are too hard for you.

Glaceon:
Snow Cloak/Ice Body
Note: Both abilities are USELESS unless Hail is up. Snow Cloak makes Glaceon evade hits, and Ice Body heals it slowly every turn. I recommend you use Snow Cloak to be annoying as hell, but both abilities are a bit garbage.

Glaceon is a sweeper. This Pokemon is… sorry, but it’s garbage. I’ll be honest, the Ice Type is one of the worst (if not the worst) Type in Pokemon. Seriously. It only resists itself, it barely has any resistances, it’s very good offensively but it’s also not a common Type until each region’s endgame. This Type is a potato and most of their users’ movepools completely suck.

Leafeon:
Leaf Guard/Chlorophyl
Note: As explained thirty times already, Chlorophyl doubles your speed in Sun. It’s amazing. Leaf Guard makes you immune to all Status conditions under Sun, so it’s also amazing, but it does not really help Leafeon much.

Leafeon is a tanky attacker. Leafeon also kinda sucks, but nowhere as bad as Glaceon. Leafeon is very tanky and is also fast thanks to Chlorophyl. Its base stats help it a lot, so it’s a tanky attacking option for story. However, you can’t even find Leafeon and Glaceon until Hoenn, so it’s not even going to be available in the first region unless you capture an Eevee, give it to someone, they travel to these regions and evolve it and trade it back.

Sylveon:
Cute Charm/Pyxilate.

Note: Cute Charm, as explained above, is a dead ability as it’s not coded. Pyxilate makes all Normal Type attacks become Fairy Type AND boosts them. It’s an amazing ability.
 

Sylveon is a tanky attacker. Thank god, Sylveon is actually good AND you can get it in Kanto (if you unlock the Love Island), it’s tanky, it has a decent movepool and you’ll be fine using it.

All best/usable natures:

Eevee: Choose the same as the evolution you wish. Otherwise, use ANY nature that you like from any evolution (if you somehow don’t want to evolve this thing).
 

Jolteon, Glaceon, Espeon: Timid/Modest/Hasty/Naive/Rash/Mild
Vaporeon, Sylveon: Bold/Calm/Modest/Quiet/Relaxed/Sassy/Timid

Porygon/Porygon2/PorygonZ

Note: Adaptability makes it so that you get an extra boost on your same Type attack bonus (STAB). Normally, if you use a move of the same Type as your Pokemon, its damage will get increased by 1.5x.
With Adaptability, it DOUBLES (2x). Trace copies the enemy ability, which can be amazing in a lot of situations. Analytic gives you a small boost if your opponent is faster than you. This is an ok ability.

Download is a potato though. It is not benefitial in most situations: it will give you a SpATK boost if the opponent’s Spdef is lower than their Def (great, SpATK boost is nice!), but it will give you an Atk boost if the opponent’s Def is lower than their Spdef. This is completely useless because Porygon and its evolutions are special attackers.

Porygon is a tanky utility Pokemon. Its evolutions fulfill different purposes. Porygon2 (the first evolution) is a tanky utility setup Pokemon, while Porygon Z is a sweeper that can also work with utiltiy moves. They’re fun Pokemon to use but they are EXTREMELY rare Pokemon in PRO.
 

Porygon/Porygon2: Bold/Calm/Modest/Relaxed/Sassy/Quiet
PorygonZ: Modest/Timid/Quiet

Omanyte/Omastar

Preferred Abilities:

Swift Swim/Shell Armor/Weak Armor
Note: read Kabuto/Kabutops, exactly same explanation.

Omanyte is a sweeper. This is mainly the preferable Kanto Fossil due to the fact that Surf is an easy to teach move for Omastar that can be instantly slapped onto him. However, you can’t revive fossils until you beat the 7^th Kanto Badge anyway, sooo… Personal preference. Omastar gets Shell Smash, which makes its SpATK, Speed and Atk DOUBLE instantly, so he’s an extremely good option to clear Elite 4s.

Kabuto/Kabutops

Preferred Abilities:
Swift Swim/Battle Armor/Weak Armor
Note: easy to decide. Swift Swim makes it double speed under rain. Battle Armor and Weak Armor are borderline useless for it.

Kabuto is a sweeper. Copy and paste what I said about Omastar, but on the physical side, without Shell Smash.

Aerodactyl

Preferred Abilities:

Rock Head/Pressure/Unnerve
Note: Aerodactyl’s abilities are a potato. In theory you would rather have Rock Head for self damaging moves, but no one in PvP uses any of them. After it megaevolves it gets a better ability though. As a Lead in PvP, you can use any of the three. Unnerve is nice to disable the opponent from using Sitrus Berry and other weird stuff, Pressure is nice to PP Stall.

Aerodactyl is a sweeper. It’s a really fast attacker that is also used for utility during PvE and Boss fights. It’s also used as an offensive lead in PvP. I recommend you give this dude a try!

Munchlax/Snorlax

Preferred Abilities:

Pick Up/Thick Fat/Gluttony
Immunity/Thick Fat/Gluttony
Note: Pick Up is not coded, so it’s useless. However, when it evolves it becomes Immunity, which is an amazing surprise ability for both bosses and PvP. It makes you immune to Poison. This will enable you to fight Stall teams and specific bosses who can Poison you down. Thick Fat gives it two extra resistances to Fire and Ice.

Munchlax is a tanky attacker. Who doesn’t love Snorlax? It’s the epithome of being tanky, bulky, fat, slow, and not wanting to do anything all day (basically me IRL). Snorlax is an incredible Pokemon for PvE content, being able to set up against anything with Curse and Amnesia, heal up with items or Rest and then attack. This is a Pokemon I 100% recommend having, as it can solo PvE content without any external help.

Articuno (sidequest needed) Galar Articuno (unreleased)
Preferred Abilities:
Pressure/Snow Cloak
Note: Articuno is a potato Pokemon. It’s just bad. In theory, the best ability for it is Pressure, Snow Cloak raises its evasion under Hail, which is a nice gimmick, but that’s it.
 

Articuno is… something. It’s supposed to be tanky, but its typing is poor, Ice resists Ice, which is completely useless because Flying is weak to Ice, so it’s neutral to Ice attacks, so Ice is useless defensively. Great start. Add ontop that it’s now weak 4 times to Stealth Rocks and any Rock Type attack, weak to Steel, Fire, Rock, Electric… yeah. I don’t know how to justify this bird over the other two. Over time, Articuno has become more and more useless. Even its Galarian form is disappointing. It is possible one of the worst (if not the worst) legendary.

All best/usable natures: Bold/Timid

Zapdos (sidequest needed), Galar Zapdos (unreleased)
Preferred Abilities:
Pressure/Static

Note: both abilities are amazing on Zapdos. Zapdos is a defensive and offensive prowess at the same time. You want Static or Pressure to paralyse physically attacking opponents that make contact with their moves (explained above in other Static Pokemon), or to PP stall opponents. Up to your choice.

Zapdos is a really good tanky sweeper. By far, he is the best one of the birds. It is both able to be a tanky attacker that uses Defog, heals in battle and paralyses opponents, and also a fearsom and quick sweeper.

Moltres (sidequest needed), Galar Moltres (unreleased)

Preferred Abilities:
Pressure/Flame Body
Note: Moltres abilities are very useless, to be honest. Pressure is better to PP Stall, but you’re an offensive Pokemon with a garbage defensive typing, why do you even have two defensive abilities?

Moltres is a fun sweeper. It’s extremely weak to Stealth Rocks like Articuno, but unlike Articuno, this Pokemon is not (complete) garbage. It’s a viable attacker, just subpar compared to others. Use it and have fun!

Dratini/Dragonair/Dragonite

Preferred Abilities:

Inner Focus/Multiscale

Note: Multiscale is AMAZING. If your HP is at full, the first attack you receive will only deal half of the normal damage. This allows you to survive hits you normally would not be able to survive.
However, if your HP is not at full, this ability is useless.

Dratini is a sweeper. It hits extremely hard, it’s fast and it’s VERY dangerous if left unchecked. Not only that, it can be a physical, special or mixed attacker. Your choice!

Mewtwo (unobtainable/unreleased)

Mewtwo is a sweeper. Did you ever play against that kid in your playGround twenty years ago that had that OP dumb as hell Mewtwo that just steamrolled through your team? Yeah, I also have nostalgia from getting my butt kicked. If this ever gets released, imagine having a 154 Special Attack sweeper with insane stats THAT CAN MEGAEVOLVE. Imagine using this for bosses. Fortunately, it’s not obtainable.

All best/usable natures: Timid/Modest/Adamant/Jolly

Mew (sidequest needed)

Preferred Abilities:
Syncrhonise (only ability)

Mew can be anything. It learns almost all moves in existence (Smeargle I’m looking at you) and all of its base stats are 100. Use him however you want as mentioned below.

Note: it can learn all moves in existence (practically) and has base 100 stats on all stats. Use him in anything you wish!

JOHTO

Chikorita/Bayleef/Meganium

Preferred Abilities:
Overgrow/Leaf Guard
Note: Leaf Guard is generally better. You can use any of the two though.

Chikorita is supposed to be a tanky utility attacker. However, Chikorita is, like you, a disappointment to your parents. It’s just a disappointing Pokemon. Funnily enough, even though I’ve listed these natures below, it’s actually being currently run in PvP as physical with Jolly or Adamant because its movepool, stats, EVERYTHING is terrible. For the love of god, please avoid choosing this as your Johto starter or you’ll just quit the game. You can hunt this guy in the Safari, please don’t put yourself through the suffering of having to use this… thing for story.

If you are still willing to use this thing, please use it as a tanky attacker with a lot of utility moves (Reflect, Light Screen and so on). Endure the suffering.

Cyndaquil/Quilava/Typhlosion

Preferred Abilities:
Blaze/Flash Fire
Note: Flash Fire completely gives it a Type immunity. This is VERY good. However, Blaze can also work for this, as it will completely spout bombs if it has low HP and Blaze and begins using Flamethrower or Fire Blast.

Cyndaquil is an incredibly fun and strong mixed and special sweeper. It’s one of my favourite Johto Pokemon. His movepool is decent, he hits hard and he burns things. It’s your average Fire Type! Use him well.

Totodile/Croconaw/Feraligatr
Preferred Abilities:
Torrent/Sheer Force
Note: Sheer Force is SO DAMN GOOD on this thing. He gets a LOT of moves that deal secondary effects and can thus exploit Life Orb.

Totodile is probably the best of the three starters. It learns a lot of moves, has amazing coverage, will help you beat story very easily and you can stick almost any TM onto this thing. Extremely fun to use!

It is a very strong physical sweeper and a good option for any content.

Sentret/Furret
Preferred Abilities:
Note: Keen Eye/Run Away/Frisk
Note: Frisk is amazing, as it lets you find out if the wild Pokemon have any held item equipped. Then, you can use Covet or Trick or Thief to steal it! The other two are almost useless.

Sentret is an amazing PvE Pokemon. It learns boosting moves such as Coil, Amnesia, Agility and Double Team and also has access to Baton Pass. This is a quick and defensive utility Pokemon that will help you break through bosses and PvE content nonstop. Definitely get one!

Sentret is both an utility Pokemon and a setup baton passer. It steals items and boosts itself and transfers these boosts for your team.

All best/usable natures: Bold/Calm/Sassy/Relaxed/Impish/Careful/Naive/Jolly/Hasty

Hoothoot/Noctowl
Preferred Abilities:
Insomnia/Keen Eye/Tinted Lens
Note: Tinted Lens will allow you to defeat anything without having to worry about the opponent’s resistances! Use this ability to break through anything.

Hoothoot is a fun Pokemon and very good for PvE in Johto’s Story because thanks to Uproar it hits VERY hard early in the Story. It also has a pretty decent movepool and access to Hypnosis. It’s also sometimes used in PvP for fun.

Ledyba/Ledian
Preferred Abilities:

This Pokemon is a meme. It’s the only way to make it work. I’m sorry. I don’t know how to justify using this thing. It’s so bad beyond words. I love it though. It’s supposed to be a tanky attacker.

Note: You either want Insomnia to use it in PvP as a lead against Ninetales Alolan (why would you even use Ariados though?), or Sniper to deal more damagewith critical hits. Up to your choice.

Spinarak is a very nice utility attacker for Story. You get access to Poison inducing moves, Toxic Spikes, priority in Sucker Punch and Shadow Sneak (which is used to beat Deoxys in Hoenn) and it gets various different utility moves like Sticky Web throughout the story. I recommend this Pokemon for early beating regions or for specific fights where you need passive support for your team.

Chinchou/Lanturn

Note: it’s a very weird tanky Pokemon, but it has some fun stuff to work with. Two of its abilities give it an immunity to either Water or Electric. Choose which one you prefer!

Lanturn is cute, it has the chance of being immune to either Electric or Water Type attacks and it is a mix of utility and offense. It’s not exactly the best as it’s heavily outclassed by Rotom Wash, but this is the Macdonalds version of it available for newbies.

Welcome to Serene Grace! This is in my opinion one of the most broken abilities in ALL of Pokemon. This doubles the chances of ANY secondary effect triggering. Thus, if you use Air Slash, your chance to flinch will be 60%, instead of 30%. Absolutely broken, unbalanced and not fun to play against. This is Togekiss’ best ability. Hustle is completely useless and Super Luck is a complete meme.

Togekiss is disgusting, it’s an insanely overpowered Pokemon for PvE Pokemon and you should get one sooner or later. You’ll face this thing in PvP ruining the fun for everyone’s (including its user). Not exactly the most fun thing, to be honest.

Natu/Xatu

Preferred Abilities:
Early Bird/Synchronise/Magic Bounce
Note: Natu is the easiest to catch Synchronise user in PRO so you can hunt other PvP Pokemon. Prioritise getting a few synchs! Magic Bounce is a broken ability that allows it to bounce ANY status/hazard move thrown at you (Toxic, Will o Wisp, Thunder Wave, Stealth Rocks, etc). You need Synchronise/Magic Bounce for PvE content and Magic Bounce for PvP. Early Bird is also required for ONE single quest. Aside from that quest, it’s useless.
 

Natu is your BREAD AND BUTTER Synchronise Pokemon for a newbie. PLEASE, whenever you see one, catch it. Natu are very common, if they have the ability Synchronise you will be able to use them to capture Pokemon with the same nature as your Natu (this is kind of a long explanation, so I’ll link a guide here). Not only that, but they are very easy to find and get, they’ll help you build any PvE or PvP team, their movepool is very good and interesting (access to offensive, defensive and utility moves) and very fun to use. Get one!

Mareep/Flaafy/Ampharos/Mega Ampharos
Preferred Abilities:
Static/Plus. Mold Breaker once it megaevolves.
Note: the ability Plus has no effect unless you’re in a Double Battle. Since they are not coded in PRO, it has no effect. Static can paralyse the opponent upon contact, so it’s a better ability 100% of the time. Mold Breaker is obtained once it is megaevolved.
 

Mareep is a very cute and hard hitting Pokemon. Its movepool just keeps getting better as you go up leveling it. It also gets access to Thunder Wave to make Pokemon catching easier, it has a decent ability in Static, can debuff PvE content bosses with Eerie Impulse or can just sweep with Dragon Pulse, Thunderbolt, Power Gem and Signal Beam. I recommend this sheep 😄

Azurill/Marill/Azumarill
Preferred Abilities:
Thick Fat/Huge Power/Sap Sipper
Note: Thick Fat is borderline useless, because you already resist Ice and Fire Type attacks. I never understood why it gets these abilities. Huge Power literally DOUBLES your ATK stat and makes you a very, VERY dangerous attacker. Sap Sipper is used to cheese very specific bosses in PvE content.

Azumarill hits HARD and it’s a very cute ball of destruction. Huge Power is an amazing ability for story for any of its evolutions, you just teach it Waterfall and sweep all the PvE content you want. Also, this Pokemon is a staple on most offensive PvP Teams and will run through entire teams alone with barely any support.

Bonsly/Sudowoodo
Preferred Abilities:
Rattled/Rock Head/Sturdy

Note: This thing is very underrated. Rattled is completely useless as Sudowoodo’s speed is pathetic. Rock Head is INSANE. You will be able to use Head Smash (150 base power, like Hyper Beam) WITH NO NEGATIVE EFFECTS. Same with Wood Hammer, with 120 base power. This ability is insane.
Sturdy is ONLY used to cheese specific PvE Bosses.

Sudowoodo is AN EXTREMELY UNDERRATED Pokemon. Yes, I know this Pokemon is a meme, but hear me out. Massive ATK and DEF stats, the ability Rock Head prevents it from taking Knockback damage. Now stick the moves Double-Edge, Head Smash and Wood Hammer onto this thing and you got a weird a-ss tree that hates Water and taking showers killing everything on its path. 120+ base power moves added ontop of a 100+ ATK stat base, with NO DOWNSIDE. This thing hits like a truck.

Hoppip/Skiploom/Jumpluff

Preferred Abilities:
Chlorophyl/Leaf Guard/Infiltrator
Note: This Pokemon is frequently used as a Toxic + Memento Training slave. It is rarely used as an offensive Pokemon. It is also used as a Boss Debuffer with Memento. Use any ability, honestly. Chlorophyl/Infiltrator are the best choices. Leaf Guard is a bit of a dead ability.

Hoppip is a godly PvE Pokemon that has the ability to train ANY Pokemon that cannot level by itself thanks to the combo of Toxic, Flash and Memento. This combo can be used to level up Pokemon such as Metapod, no longer requiring to attack to gain the full EXP from the wild Pokemon. Not only that, this Pokemon is a usable boss and PvE debuffer (Growl, Cotton Spore, Memento, Flash and so on), incredibly fast, can level up easily by itself with Giga Drain, Bullet Seed, Acrobatics and more.

Aipom/Ambipom

Note: Technician and Skill Link are amazing abilities (check Cloyster for Skill Link and Scizor for Technician). They will boost Ambipom’s weaker moves and actually make it fun to be used in PvP and PvE content. I love this Pokemon. It’s super fun to use.

Aipom is a funny looking weird af monkey that is just fun to use, it uses weird moves and Prehax seems to love this thing (MONKE). It hits fast and it’s a good utility attacker.

Sunkern/Sunflora
Preferred Abilities:

Chlorophyl/Early Bird/Solar Power

Note: Sunflora’s Speed is pathetic. If you don’t want to bother, just use Solar Power and don’t even try to make it fast with Chlorophyl. It’s a funny Pokemon, just terrible, sadly. It has a very good moveset, just not the stats nor typing to back it up.
 

Honestly I don’t have much of an excuse to use this thing. Sunkern is one of the worst Pokemon in existence, with the lowest possible base stats (35 on everything). However, when it evolves, Sunflora gets a massive Special Attack boost. If you want to play this funny looking sun absorbing thing, try it out!

Yanma/Yanmega
Preferred Abilities:
Compoundeyes/Speed Boost/Frisk
Tinted Lens/Speed Boost/Frisk
Note: Tinted Lens is actually an amazing ability for a Pokemon whose typing is resisted by atleast seven different Pokemon Types (in fact, eight or nine out of 18 Types). However, it’s just that Speed Boost outclasses Tinted Lens in most situations because you get a Speed boost (wow, hence the pun) every single turn. Up to your choice. Frisk can be used to check wild Pokemon’s held items.

Yanma is a fun gimmick Pokemon. You either abuse Speed Boost to be fast and then start attacking things or you use Tinted Lens and try to attack anything you see immediately. Yanma is just outclassed by other better Bug Types with Tinted Lens, unfortunately. If you still wish to use it, do it!

Wooper/Quagsire
Preferred Abilities:
Damp/Water Absorb/Unaware

Note: Water Absorb is an amazing ability in PvE to cheese certain bosses and PvE fights during story. However, Unaware is amazing for PvP to ignore the opponent’s stat boosts, and it is its most preferred ability. Damp is borderline useless.

Quagsire is one of the best PvE and PvP Pokemon, capable to fit in many teams in a support and stalling role. This Pokemon is AMAZING for newbies because it barely takes any skill to use. Not only that, it’s an extremely common Pokemon to find and hunt. Use it!

Murkrow/Honchkrow
Preferred Abilities:

Insomnia/Super Luck/Prankster

Insomnia/Super Luck/Moxie
Note: Prankster is an amazing ability that makes all status moves go first (unless the opponent is a Dark Type Pokemon). Moxie also gives you an ATK stat boost every time you defeat an opponent. Super Luck is a gimmick but fun ability for PvE content. Insomnia just prevents sleep.

Murkrow is a very rare Flying Type Pokemon that you should probably give it a shot at. Obtainable in Kanto and evolvable through a Dusk Stone, this nightmare inducing Pokemon… is just a birb. It’s a cool crow, learns cool moves, can be physical or mixed and it’s generally extremely good for PvE content. It steamrolls through the Elite 4 of Kanto and Johto easily, but it’s very hard to hunt.

Misdreavus/Mismagius
Preferred Abilities:

Levitate
Note: only ability lol. Immunity to Ground Type Attacks. Yay.

Misdreavus is an amazing Pokemon that both works to level up ANY Pokemon that cannot fight by itself thanks to the Perish Song + Protect + Memento combo, which will make any wild Pokemon faint while you faint yourself, switch to another Pokemon and that other Pokemon gets all the EXP (more on this on the linked Level Up guide) AND it’s a very fun to use support/utility special attacker Pokemon. It’s also easy to find and hunt!

Unown

This Pokemon is useless. It can only use Hidden Power. That’s it lmao. I have one at level 100, if you want to train one for the memes, please ensure your Hidden Power is useful, because if it’s not, you’ll never be able to level it up. I don’t recommend using this, but if you want to challenge yourself...

Wynaut/Wobbuffet

Preferred Abilities:
Shadow Tag/Anticipation

Note: Shadow Tag can be useful to trap enemy Abra and other Pokemon that teleport. As far as I know, this ability is banned in PvP though. Anticipation is useless.

This Pokemon is extremely good for bosses. Equipped with a Leftovers, this allows you to continuously wear down and faint PvE Pokemon by spamming Counter and Mirror Coat and returning all of their attacks. It’s the Wobbuffet gimmick. HOWEVER, Wobbuffet DOES NOT LEARN ANY DAMAGING MOVES. It can only COUNTER them. You will need to think a lot whenever you want to train this thing.

Girafarig

Preferred Abilities:
Inner Focus/Early Bird/Sap Sipper
Note: Inner Focus protects us from being flinched and Sap Sipper makes us immune to Grass Type attacks and gives us an ATK boost every time we’re hit by one. The boost is irrelevant, but immunity to flinches or immunity to Grass attacks are both amazing.

VERY UNDERRATED Pokemon, in my opinion. Its stats are balanced out, its typing is great (in my opinion, as it’s only weak to Bug and Dark Types), has two immunities with Sap Sipper (Grass and Ghost), and decent movepool. This can be an amazing Pokemon for PvE content, but it’s a shame no one uses it. It’s a cute looking Pokemon that should’ve been given more attention.

Pineco/Foretress

Preferred Abilities:
Sturdy/Overcoat

Note: Sturdy is amazing, free Focus Sash! It is incredible. Overcoat protects us from Sand (useless, as Forretress is already immune to it), Hail (this is actually an amazing benefit) and Powder moves (Stun Spore, etc).

Pineco is the best Hazard setter in PRO (and possibly, in all of Pokemon). Access to Stealth Rocks, Spikes AND Toxic Spikes, this is the best, by far, Hazard setter for Bosses. You can use this Pokemon to set up hazards everywhere, it’s an amazing support Pokemon for PvE content (if not the best one, only outclassed by Smeargle, but Smeargle is like turning on the Cheat Code modes in any game, that’s beyond broken). Not only is Pineco amazing at providing support with Hazards, it also gets some decent attacking moves (it learns EARTHQUAKE. A FREAKING PINECONE CAUSES EARTHQUAKES. WHAT?)

Dunsparce/dudunsparce

Preferred Abilities:
Serene Grace/Run Away/Rattled

Note: read Togepi for more info on Serene Grace. This ability is busted. Run Away is useless in battle, Rattled is actually cool because Dark and Bug Type attacks will increase your Speed, but you’re already immune to Ghost, so the ability does not work properly with Dunsparce.

This is the literal definition of maximum meme experience. Proceed to Body Slam paralyse your opponents on a 60% chance, then Headbutt on a 60% flinch chance. This is MEME MATERIAL. If you run this in PvP, you have my respects.

Gligar/Gliscor

Preferred Abilities:
Hyper Cutter/Sand Veil/Immunity

Hyper Cutter/Sand Veil/Poison Heal

Note: Poison Heal is INSANE. When Poisoned, we will heal 1/8 of our max HP every turn. This will make us immune to Poison damage. The other 2 abilities are gimmicks, Hyper Cutter is borderline useless, Sand Veil would only work in a Sand Team.

Gliscor is an amazing PvP Pokemon that I recommend hunting to anyone. Its ability Poison Heal makes it immune to Poison AND heals it every turn, which makes this thing an amazing stalling annoyance. This is also a great PvE Pokemon for many PvE Questlines. It’s not super powerful by itself, but it is a very useful helper in your team.

Snubull/Granbull

Preferred Abilities:
Intimidate/Run Away/Rattled

Intimidate/Quick Feet/Rattled

Note: Run Away becomes Quick Feet once it evolves. Intimidate is a really nice ability for it, as it allows it to tank a few extra physical hits while it hits hard in revenge. Quick Feet is a bonus to your speed if you have a status condition, Rattled is a gimmick ability.

GET THIS THING FOR KANTO STORY. This Pokemon may be garbage in PvP, but it’s an amazing Story Pokemon. Granbull, with a base 120 Attack (higher than Tauros, for example), learns the elemental fangs (Thunder, Ice and Fire Fang) and hits extremely hard. It’s also decently tanky thanks to Intimidate. I recommend you train one for Kanto’s Story. Not just that, it also learns Thunder Wave (HOW? WHY?) Heal Bell and Toxic, and it gets many more utility moves. This thing hits hard and it’s an amazing support PvE Pokemon.

Qwilfish

Preferred Abilities:

Poison Point/Swift Swim/Intimidate
Note: this Pokemon is a gimmicky tanky physical attacker with access to a lot of support moves. Intimidate and Poison Point are good abilities for its tanky variant, Swift Swim is better to sweep (if you use this thing to sweep, you’re a madman)

This Pokemon is extremely weird. Average stats, can function both as a defensive utility attacker or as a sweeper. Access to Toxic Spikes and a decent movepool, Intimidate and utility for Story.

Shuckle

Preferred Abilities:
Sturdy/Gluttony/Contrary

Note: Gluttony is not properly coded and it’s a bit of a waste to run a berry on this thing. Sturdy allows it to tank a single hit and survive (even though this thing has over 500 defense and special defense once trained at level 100), and Contrary allows it to use Shell Smash and become unbeatable.

This Pokemon is completely broken for PvE content beyond absurd limits. Since the PvE Artificial Intelligence is as smart as a drunk British teenager at an Ibiza pub at 4 AM on a Saturday, they simply try to break through Shuckle with brute force. It doesn’t work. Shuckle has around 220 HP, with DEF and SPDEF stats going over 500 each. You just can’t get through this thing with brute force. You can use this tank for PvE content. If you manage to get a Contrary one, you just need to teach it Shell Smash. Its DEF and SPDEF stats will go to absurd extents at that point. This Pokemon will solo bosses alone.

Heracross/Mega Heracross

Preferred Abilities:
Swarm/Guts/Moxie (becomes Skill Link once megaevolved)

Note: Guts lets it run Flame Orb while it’s not megaevolved and it allows it to hit very hard, Moxie lets it pick up attack boosts before megaevolving. Swarm is a meme.

Heracross is a very strong and bulky attacker for both PvE and PvP Content. This thing is VERY scary. When it Megaevolves, it has a higher attack than Groudon. Facing this thing is borderline impossible, either you burn it or you just run away from it. I seriously recommend you get this guy for both PvE and PvP content. It hits like a truck and sweeps through gyms. Go for it!

Sneasel/Weavile

Hisuian Sneasel/Sneasler
Preferred Abilities:
Inner Focus/Keen Eye/Pickpocket

Pressure/Pickpocket
Note: both Inner Focus and Keen Eye become Pressure once evolved to Weavile.
Pressure is the common go-to ability to reduce the enemies’ pp as much as possible during PvP. Pressure has no effect in PvE since the AI has infinite PP (wild Pokemon and trainers). Pickpocket can be nice to steal wild Pokemon items.

Sneasel is a very quick and strong sweeper. Weavile, its evolution, is one of the best Pokemon in Competitive Pokemon, period. (not the blood one). This thing hits hard and fast, traps opponents with Pursuit and helps ANY team. Weavile can stick in ANY team very easily. Please, get one. It’s also EDGY for the cool kids that are always toxic in Battle Chat.

Teddiursa/Ursaring/Ursaluna

Preferred Abilities:

Pickup/Quick Feet/Honey Gather

Guts/Quick Feet/Unnerve

Note: Guts is the best ability for it, it allows it to sweep both in PvP and PvE content and makes it become a monster sweeping truck. The other two are gimmicks.

Ursaring hits like a truck. Base 130 attack, slow but bulky, when it is burned with Guts its attack gets increased by 50%. Then, Facade activates its secondary effect, and hits with 140 Base Power. It also gets STAB. Ursaring is a physical attacking monster for both PvE and PvP. I extremely recommend that you get this thing in Kanto in Rock Tunnel, it will break through most Story fights.

Slugma/Magcargo

Preferred Abilities:
Magma Armor/Flame Body/Weak Armor

Note: the three abilities are terrible, but you need Magma Armor to get bonus points in the Sharpedo and Camerupt Megaquest, or Flame Body to burn enemies that make contact with you. Weak Armor CAN be used IF you use Shell Smash + Focus Sash, but it’s an absolute meme.

After a streak of very good and fun to use Pokemon… we get to this thing. It’s one of my favourite Pokemon, but this was just designed to be a bad Pokemon. It’s EXTREMELY slow, it has a decent high SPATK, good DEF, but everything else is terrible. Seven resistances sounds very cool, until you realise it is four times weak to Ground and Water, and it’s also weak to Fighting and Rock (being a Rock Type itself, wtf.) I don’t really recommend using this unless you want to meme or you’re desperate.

Swinub/Piloswine/Mamoswine
Preferred Abilities:
Snow Cloak/Oblivious/Thick Fat

Note: Oblivious allows it to ignore being taunted with the move Taunt, which then allows it to use Status Moves whenever it wants. Amazing advantage! Thick Fat makes it take 50% less damage from Fire and Ice Type moves. It’s a really neat ability as it’d normally be weak to Fire Type attacks!

Back to great Pokemon: Mamoswine is amazing. This Pokemon is decently fast, hits VERY hard and it’s pretty bulky. It’s a very good PvE Pokemon. The only issue is that its movepool is kinda pathetic. Thankfully, its abilities and stats overcome this. If you’re looking for a purely Ground and Ice Type attacker, this is your boy.

Corsola/Galar Corsola and Cursola (unreleased)
Preferred Abilities:
Hustle/Natural Cure/Regenerator

Note: Hustle is USELESS for Corsola. It’s not a physical attacker, it’s an utility Pokemon. Natural Cure is an ok ability as it lets it heal status, but Regenerator is way better.

Back to bad Pokemon: Corsola. I do not know how to justify using this thing. Unless you get a Natural Cure or Regenerator one, please don’t train this. It’s such a meme and bad Pokemon, too many common weaknesses, bad stats, disappointing everything. Everything is terrible.

Remoraid/Octillery

Note: Sniper is a really nice ability to use Focus Energy + Scope Lens and then proceed to spam high critical chance moves against the opponent. This will allow Octillery to deal massive damage. Moody is an incredible ability that will boost one stat sharply while decreasing another random stat slightly every turn. This ability is banned in PvP, but this ability can be extremely useful in PvE Content.

This dude is a complete meme. It hits very hard, but it’s a very slow Pokemon and its movepool is weird. It’s just a fun octopus. No idea how to justify using it, to be honest. If you want to use weird Water Types, this is your choice.

Delibird

Note: This Pokemon is a literal meme and all his abilities are bad. He’s bad. Everything about this dude is bad. Lmao.

Icy Wind helps lower your opponent's speed, it can either set up Spikes for your team or remove the opponent's with Rapid Spin (or do both). Funnily enough, it also learns Destiny Bond, so you can use this thing as a Destiny Bonder vs bosses (yes, you read that right). You can also Sash + Counter this to cheese some PvE encounters, Endure to stall out some turns, Fake Out to annoy, Happy Hour (I had to look up this move, it has no effect but the name looks cool), Mimic to copy your opponent's last move, Mud-Slap to make the opponents rage, Recycle because it's good for the environment (kids please, plastic in the yellow bin, glass in the green bin and paper in the blue bin). You can even Swagger + Substitute + Toxic some bosses if you have enough luck to win two lottery tickets!

Mantyke/Mantine

Note: Mantyke and Mantine are defensive Pokemon. Their best ability is Water Absorb, which heals them when they receive a Water Type attack. Swift Swim is useless for it, it’s not a sweeper, and Water Veil just prevents it from being burned under rain.

This Pokemon is an amazing specially defensive tank for PvE and PvP content. I strongly suggest you use this thing. It’s a bit hard to level up though as it requires a lot of EXP, but it’s very tanky and hits decently hard.

Skarmory

Preferred Abilities:
Sturdy/Keen Eye/Weak Armor
Note: Sturdy is amazing, it makes it always live atleast one hit and furthers its already obscene resistances. Keen Eye is pathetically useless. Weak Armor makes no sense, Skarmory is a tank, you don’t want its defense to be decreased just for Speed boosts.

Apply the exact same I mentioned in Mantine, but it’s a physically defensive tank, and not a special one. This is an astoundingly good Pokemon, seeked by everyone. Really, REALLY good Steel defensive Pokemon.

All best/usable natures: Bold/Calm/Sassy/Relaxed/Impish/Careful

Houndour/Houndoom/Mega Houndoom
Preferred Abilities:
Flash Fire/Early Bird/Unnerve (becomes Solar Power once megaevolved)

Note: Flash Fire gives it an amazing immunity and boosts its Fire Type attacks. Nice.

The other two abilities are two situational to even be considered usable.

Houndour is a very strong and specially attacking Pokemon. It’s Dark, edgy, and bites. It’s just a fun and good Pokemon for a story or PvP adventure! I don’t know what else to say on this thing, it’s just a good special attacker that will carry you.

Phanpy/Donphan
Preferred Abilities:

Sturdy/Sand Veil
Note: You already know Sturdy is amazing. This allows Donphan to Sturdy a single very strong hit, then use Endeavour to reduce the enemies’ HP to 1. Then, it can use Ice Shard to revengekill with priority. Sturdy is an extra live you can use in a lot of situations. Always go for Sturdy! Sand Veil is also fun to use but gimmicky and can only work under Sand.

Donphan is an amazing PvE and PvP Pokemon. While it may be a bit outclassed in PvP, Donphan can be used in PvE to purposedly train any Pokemon that has a priority move. You can use Endeavor + Sturdy on a wild Pokemon to leave them with 1 HP, then let Donphan faint and take the kill with a lower level Pokemon using a priority move. This will give them all the full experience!
Donphan also has a really nice and varied movepool, it learns utility moves and offensive moves and it’s very tanky. Enjoy using it!

Stantler/Wyrdeer

Preferred Abilities:

Intimidate/Frisk/Sap Sipper
Note: Intimidate is an amazing ability as it lets you protect yourself better from physical attacks. Sap Sipper gives you an immunity to Grass Type Attacks, which is insane, and Attack boosts for free!
Frisk is just useful.

Stantler is a sweeper. It’s similar to Girafarig, they share a lot of similarities when in regards to abilities and movepools, so you can just copy and paste. They don’t share the same typing though.

Smeargle

Preferred Abilities:
Own Tempo/Technician/Moody

Note: Own Tempo is just okay, you are immune to Confusion. Technician, as mentioned in Scyther, can be really useful for Smeargle if you intend to use him as a sweeper. Moody is a weird ability that can be insane in sweeping bosses, but it can also troll you VERY hard. Let me explain. Moody gives you +2 in a stat and -1 in another stat, COMPLETELY RANDOMLY, at the end of each turn.

It sounds good, but it’s actually not. You could get +2 Attack but -1 Speed, and now you’re too slow to attack first, and you die. Or the opposite, +2 Speed and -1 Attack, you now attack first but don’t faint the opponent and you die. Depending on what stat drop you get, this ability is either insane or pure garbage.

Smeargle can learn ALL MOVES IN EXISTENCE. Use this guy however you want. This thing can be your False Swiper, your Perish Songer, your Pokemon Catcher, your Baton Passer, this thing can be anything it wants.

Miltank

Preferred Abilities:

Thick Fat/Scrappy/Sap Sipper
Note: All Miltank abilities are amazing. For its tanky sets, you can choose Thick Fat, which will give you a resistance to Fire and Ice Type attacks, and Sap Sipper will give you an immunity to Grass Type attacks. Scrappy will let your sweeper side break through Ghost Type Pokemon. I would say Scrappy is the least useful one, but being able to Body Slam anything is VERY useful.

It is a tanky attacker. If you ever played Gen 2, you will quickly understand why this thing is a MENACE. This thing Rollouts all over teams, but it’s actually not its best function. Miltank hits hard, heals up itself with Milk Drink, heals its team with Heal Bell, paralyses and hits hard with Body Slam, and has access to a pretty fun movepool. It’s an amazing PvE Pokemon.

Raikou

Note: You normally want Pressure to burn down the opponent’s PP. To make it smaller. Yes, that’s a

It’s a fast sweeper. Possibly the best one of the three doggos (personal opinion) this legendary dog is fast and hits hard. It’s a fun and easy one to play.

It’s a fast sweeper. The worst one of the three dogs, it’s an above average attacker. Unfortunately, it barely sees play because there’s way more Fire Types that do his job but better.

Note: Suicune is a disgusting tanky staller that will slowly wear you down while you waste PP trying to break its Substitutes down. ALWAYS go for Pressure.

It’s a tanky setup sweeper. Possibly the second best doggo, this thing is amazing. It’s extremely tanky, sets up on your face and is generally extremely annoying to deal with.

You automatically summon Sandstorm when you enter battle, which does % damage every turn to non Rock, Steel or Ground Type Pokemon and boosts the Spdef of Rock Type Pokemon by 50%, in addition to enabling MANY other Pokemon to function thanks to their Sand related abilities.

Unnerve is really bad in comparison.

It is… well. Checking from the natures below, you can infer this thing is a tank, sweeper, and all-in-one-do-it-all. It only lacks reliable recovery. It’s one of the best Pokemon in history. It’s infamous for being able to fulfill many, MANY roles and run literally almost anything.

HOENN

Note: Unburden will cause your Speed stat to DOUBLE after the Pokemon’s held item is consumed (like a Gem or a berry). This ability is only relevant if you plan to use the physical non-mega version of Sceptile. Otherwise any ability works.

Sceptile is a very fast and cool looking special, physical or mixed attacker. He’s decent for story too, as it’s a pure Grass Type without any secondary typing that provides no extra weaknesses.

Torchic/Combusken/Blaziken/Mega Blaziken

Torchic (or Kentucky Fried Torchicken) is a very fun physical sweeper for story. Once it evolves it gains the Fighting Type and it becomes an incredible offensive prowess.

Mudkip/Marshtomp/Swampert/Mega Swampert

Note: Both abilities kinda suck for him. Damp avoids enemy Explosion (it disables the move completely), Torrent gives you a damage boost on your Water Type attacks if your HP is 33% or lower. Nothing really good here.

Tanky attacker. Mudkip is possibly the best out of the 3 starters because when it fully evolves, it is only weak to the Grass Type (4 times, actually). While it’s a big weakness, it’s only a single Type out of all of them, it’s immune to Electric and has a few extra resistances. The Grass Type is also a kinda rare Type in Hoenn, so it’s a very solid option.

Poochyena/Mightyena

Cute dog and fast sweeper, this is a nice Story addition to your team. Learns the elemental fangs, priority in Sucker Punch and hits decently hard. Very useful for the Lategame parts in Hoenn Story.

Note: Shield Dust is the best ability for Wurmple itself as it prevents secondary effects such as flinching, burn or freeze, among others. This is an amazing ability for a lot of Bug Type Pokemon! Shed Skin is the only ability for its cocoon evolutions. Beautifly’s abilities are disappointing, to say the least. We’ll settle with Swarm though. Compoundeyes is extremely useful to land Sleep Powder almost 100% of the time.

Honestly, I don’t know how to justify using Dustox or Beautifly. Their only good use is as a status setter to capture other Pokemon, such as Sleep Powder, Stun Spore or PoisonPowder access. They’re cute support Pokemon for story.

Note: Imagine how irrelevant Own Tempo is that I literally forgot Ludicolo can have this ability before I made this guide. Swift Swim doubles Ludicolo’s speed under rain. This makes it become a really fun sweeper for PVP and PVE Content. Rain Dish is also useful for tanky Ludicolo sets.

Ludicolo is an extremely useful sweeper with a decent moveset that becomes dangerous under the Rain, when its speed doubles. I recommend you get one for Story and PvE purposes, because its movepool is decent and its typing is extremely useful for newbies. Grass for Water, Water for Fire and learns Ice Beam for Grass Types.

Seedot/Nuzleaf/Shiftry

Note: Remember Chlorophyl is amazing? Yes? THEN USE IT. Ignore the other two, they’re borderline garbage.

Shiftry is the black sheep between Ludicolo and him because he has so many weaknesses it is a running gag: weak to Fire, Ice, Bug, Flying, Poison, Fairy, Fighting. However, Shiftry’s movepool is extremely varied, he has an astonishing amount of tools, can be a physical, special or mixed sweeper. For story, this guy is extremely fun to use.

Taillow/Swellow

Preferred Abilities:

Guts/Scrappy

Note: This Pokemon is amazing and fun to use, however, both abilities work completely differently. Guts will make its ATK increase when it suffers from a status condition. Combine this with Facade, which doubles its power under a status condition. Now combine it with STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus), as it’s also a Normal Type Pokemon (and Flying).

Scrappy lets you hit ANY Ghost Type with Normal Type attacks. This Pokemon is fast and it has a decent Special Attack stat and it learns Boomburst, a 140 base power move, that is sound based (which bypasses Substitute) and can now hit Ghost Types thanks to scrappy, it also has STAB.

Seriously recommend this dude, he is CLEARLY the best Flying Type Pokemon for newbies for Hoenn’s story (aside from Pelipper). Very easy to use and learn.

Wingull/Pelipper

Pelipper is an extremely easy (probably the easiest) PvP and PvE Pokemon you can farm after you complete the Hoenn Region. Seriously recommend you get one, as it’s one of the best PvP Pokemon to farm.

Ralts/Kirlia/Gardevoir/Gallade/Mega Gardevoir/Mega Gallade

Preferred Abilities:

Ralts – Kirlia – Gardevoir Synchronise/Trace/Telepathy

Gallade - Steadfast/Justified, becomes Inner Focus on Mega Gallade

Pixilate on Mega Gardevoir.

Note: Synchronise as mentioned above is a great ability to hunt wild Pokemon. This is your to-go ability for PvE. Trace is your preferred ability for both PvE and PvP. This ability allows you to both identify a wild Pokemon’s ability and copy it and have the same effects. Essentially, this allows you to hunt Pokemon comfortably and know what ability they have before you catch them. Telepathy has some weird gimmicks, but it is not recommended.

For Gallade, you preferably want Justified. It’s a really nice stat boost, still purely situational.

All best/usable natures:

Male: Jolly/Adamant/Naive/Lonely/Naughty/Hasty (+ Female natures, as Male can be BOTH Gallade or Gardevoir)

This ability is borderline useless except on tanky defensive Pokemon such as Vileplume. Poison Heal makes you immune to Poison and heals you every turn if you are inflicted with this status. Technician boosts all weak moves. Both of these abilities are incredible, so make good use of them!

Note: What if you wanted a good ability on a weird funny looking sloth Pokemon, but god said NOPE? Truant is an infamously bad ability, and the worst part is that it’s this evo line only ability. Losing a turn every 2 turns for absolutely no other reason than “Hey, this Pokemon is a gimmick, we were too lazy to balance this Pokemon so we introduced an ability to counter it, instead of actually making him PvP viable”.

Nincada/Ninjask/Shedinja

Note: Nincada’s abilities are irrelevant unless you need to check what will it become on Ninjask. Shedinja can only have Wonder Guard. On Ninjask, you want Speed Boost if you want to Baton Pass for PvE content, but Infiltrator to sweep. This is a hard decision to make, to be honest.

Wonder Guard makes you immune to all attacks that are not super effective, however, you will still die to stuff like Poison, Burn, Entry Hazards, Weather, Leech Seed, and a long list of stuff that renders this “incredible” ability completely useless.

Note: This is an extremely weird Pokemon that makes use of a move called Assist. This move allows you to randomly use a move one of your other Pokemon knows. This sounds really overpowered, but when you realise this move isn’t coded in PRO, you realise it’s useless. Cute Charm is also not coded. Normalize can be a decent option, but it’s just to boost its attack potential, and you render this Pokemon useless against Ghost Types because all of your attacks will always be Normal Type based.

Sableye/Mega Sableye

Preferred Abilities:

Keen Eye/Stall/Prankster (Becomes Magic Bounce on Mega Sableye, an insane ability)
Note: Prankster is an amazing ability as, unless the opponent’s Pokemon is a Dark Type Pokemon, this will automatically give you +1 priority to any Status move. Keen Eye and Stall are literally useless, Keen Eye has no function anywhere, and Stall makes you always move last. On a Pokemon that is already slow. Why?

Budew/Roselia/Roserade

Note: Natural Cure heals any status upon switch out, and Technician boosts your attacks slightly if they are weak (Under 60 Base Power). One of the problems with Roserade is that it’s weak to most attacks that inflict Burn or Freeze status and that it’s immune to Spore and to Poison thanks to its typing, so it will rarely get status’d. Poison Point is useless.

Gulpin/Swalot

Preferred Abilities:

Note: Liquid Ooze is a great anti stall option which renders Leech Seed useless, and other Drain moves too. However, Swalot already resists almost all (if not all) moves that drain HP, as it resists Bug, Fighting, Fairy and Grass attacks. It’s also supposed (SUPPOSED) to be a tanky attacker, a Macdonalds’ Muk, basically.

Carvanha/Sharpedo/Mega Sharpedo

Numel/Camerupt/Mega Camerupt

Camerupt - Magma Armor/Solid Rock/Anger Point. Becomes Sheer Force once megaevolved.

Note: I don’t understand what Gamefreak did to choose Numel and its evo abilities, because they’re random as hell. Oblivious is an okay option to be immune to Taunt, except this Pokemon barely ever uses Status moves. Simple would be a good option, but this Pokemon has no access to real boosting moves. Own Tempo is near useless.

Magma Armor is literally used for a sidequest in Hoenn. Solid Rock is the best option out of Camerupt’s, but it’s still 4 times weak to Water, one of the most common offensive and deffensive typings, and it has holes everywhere. Anger Point maxes your ATK instantly if you receive a critical hit, but good luck surviving one with this thing. No idea how to justify using this

Torkoal

Preferred Abilities:
White Smoke/Drought/Shell Armor

Note: Drought is one of the best abilities in all of Pokemon. The ability to instantly summon Sunny Weather in battle is extremely good, as it enables Sun Teams to function properly. This Pokemon is also extremely tanky, and it’s a very fun to use Turtli boiiii. White Smoke is nearly useless for it, it’s very tanky and it does not care about stat drops. Shell Armor is also irrelevant, you’ll always survive physical crits, it’s the special attack crits that will take you down instantly, no matter what you do.

Spoink/Grumpig

Preferred Abilities:
Thick Fat/Own Tempo/Gluttony

Note: Grumpig is an extremely rare defensive Pokemon. For this reason, use Thick Fat to give it two extra resistances and exploit its varied movepool. This is a joke, obviously. It’s another meme Pokemon from Gen 3. Try to use it as a defensive utility Pokemon.

Spinda

Preferred Abilities:

Own Tempo/Tangled Feet/Contrary
Note: Contrary makes it so that your stat drops become stat increases. If you use the move Superpower, instead of having your ATK and DEF drop by a stage, they will increase. This is very easy to exploit on Serperior and Spinda. It’s a very fun ability. Also, Spinda’s cute, it’s basically me hungover at 5am waking up somewhere not knowing what I did on the entire night. Use this Pokemon!

Trapinch/Vibrava/Flygon

Preferred Abilities:

Trapinch - Hyper Cutter/Arena Trap/Sheer Force

Note: Trapinch actually was used by someone in PRO in PvP (undocumented, but absolute madman) because it has 10 base Speed and 100 base Attack (higher than Kyogre, by the way). This little thing this extremely hard and has three amazing abilities. When it evolves, it loses all of its abilities and gains Levitate. It’s a bit sad, but well, it’s the “perks” of evolution.

Cacnea/Cacturne

Preferred Abilities:

Sand Veil/Water Absorb

Note: Cacturne was so disgusting in Gen 3 and so annoying to deal with that it was actually banned in PvP due to the Sandstorm + Sand Veil combination. Fun fact, Cacturne hits like a truck, it’s just extremely slow and it’s a gimmick Pokemon. Very fun to use for story though.

Swablu/Altaria/Mega Altaria

Preferred Abilities:
Natural Cure/Cloud Nine (when megaevolved, it gains Pixilate)

Note: both abilities are really good pre megaevolving. Cloud Nine allows you to counter Weather Abusers and Natural Cure lets you heal any status upon switch out.

Mega Altaria can do anything: it can be a physical sweeper, a special sweeper, a physical tanky attacker, a special tanky attacker, a bit of a staller and it can also wash the dishes and pay your rent. Altaria is extremely flexible, to the point where I went to look for possible sets for it and I found like 24 of them. So yeah, I’ll just show the most used PvP natures and you decide.

Zangoose

Note: Toxic Boost greatly powers up your attacks while you are poisoned. This is an amazing damage boost for a sweeper like Zangoose, fast and hard hitting. Combine it with Facade and you steamroll!

Zangoose is edgy, it hits REALLY hard, but has a disappointing moveset. It’s not the best thing in the world, but it’s not the best one either. Use it if you like edgy stuff.

Seviper

Preferred Abilities:
Shed Skin/Infiltrator

Note: Infiltrator lets you bypass Substitute, a move that will protect you from any attacks unless they are Sound Based (for example, Bug Buzz or Boomburst).

Seviper is definitely underrated but it’s also a very uncommon Pokemon. It’s a fun mixed sweeper, but its moveset is very, very poor. It has a solid 100 base Attack and Special Attack, but a pathetic 65 Speed stat.

Lunatone

Preferred Abilities:
Levitate (only ability)

Lunatone is a meme Pokemon that sees literally no play anywhere. It might be cool for PvE, but even there, I don’t really find an excuse to use it. It’s a slow attacker with average at best stats and not with a surprising movepool.

Solrock

Preferred Abilities:

Levitate (only ability)

Contrary to Lunatone… just kidding, this is also a meme Pokemon. However, its access to Flare Blitz, Explosion, Stealth Rocks and other utility moves actually make this thing a USABLE meme both in PvE and PvP. Try it out!

Barboach/Whiscash

Preferred Abilities:

Oblivious/Anticipation/Hydration

This Pokemon is a literal meme and is outclassed by anything in existence. Any Water Type is better than this thing, unfortunately. You can try using Dragon Dance, then resting under Rain to heal with Hydration and immediately attack. It barely has any use, ever, anywhere. It’s ok in PvE, just don’t use it in PvP.

Corphish/Crawdaunt

Preferred Abilities:
Hyper Cutter/Shell Armor/Adaptability

Crawdaunt hits LIKE A TRUCK. Adaptability gives you an extra bonus on the attacks of your same Type. For example, a Water or Dark Type attack will get an extra 1.5x Damage Bonus. Added to Stab, that’s a 2x bonus. Thus, you will always deal double the normal damage! Hyper Cutter is a gimmick and Shell Armor is useless.

Baltoy/Claydol

Preferred Abilities:

Levitate (only ability, why the hell do so many Pokemon have Levitate as their only ability?)

Claydol is an extremely good PvE Pokemon, very, VERY tanky and learns a lot of utility and annoying support moves that will help you throughout story. It also has decent offensive stats, so if you need a Ground, Psychic or both Types combined, this is a very good choice.

Lileep/Cradily

Preferred Abilities:
Suction Cups/Storm Drain

Note: Storm Drain is clearly the best ability. Literally gives you a free immunity to Water Type attacks. Why would you not want this? It’s amazing!

Cradily is an extremely tanky and annoying to deal with Pokemon that resists a few common Types and will support you in PvE content. Use one!

Anorith/Armaldo

Preferred Abilities:
Battle Armor/Swift Swim

For some reason, this gets Swift Swim. This is actually amazing because it doubles its speed under Rain. What’s the problem? THIS THING IS WEAK TO WATER TYPE ATTACKS.

You power up Water Type attacks to go faster, but you also power up being blasted by one. I don’t understand this ability choice, it’s a cute Swift Swimmer on a very uncommon Type (Rock/Bug), and it’s very fun for PvE content. Use it if you want, just be careful!

Feebas/Milotic

Preferred Abilities:
Swift Swim/Oblivious/Adaptability

Marvel Scale/Competitive/Cute Charm

Note: Marvel Scale powers up your DEF stat when inflicted with a status condition.

Milotic is an extremely tanky special attacker that is fun and straightforward to use, you use Recover to heal and you use other attacks to wear down the enemy. It’s very basic and it’s very similar to Vaporeon. It’s also cute.

Castform

Note: the ability is not coded, but it transforms Castform into a different form depending on the weather. Except sandstorm, because for some reason it didn’t get a form in that weather.

Castform is a meme Pokemon with next to no viablity. It’s just cute but has literally nothing going for it. Its ability is not even coded lol.

Kecleon

Preferred Abilities:

Color Change/Protean

Note: this might take a while to explain. Color Change changes Kecleon’s Type to the Type of the attack you just were hit by. Example:

Kecleon is a Normal Type. He is attacked with Surf. Now he is a Water Type.

Protean does the same but on a different way: Protean changes Kecleon’s Type to the Type of the attack KECLEON USES. Example:

Kecleon is a Normal Type. He now uses Flamethrower. Now Kecleon is a Fire Type!

Kecleon is a meme Pokemon with no viability whatsoever for PvP. HOWEVER, His stats are solid for PvE content and he can abuse both Protean and Color Change to steamroll through PvE content since he will gain the same Type of the enemies’ attack. In many Types, this Type will resist itself (Fire, Water, Grass, Electric, Steel and other Types resist themselves or their own Type attacks, like Ice, Dark, Poison, and so on). It is also the only other Protean user aside from Greninja. While it doesn’t have nowhere the same stats or usability, it’s also fun to use as a meme.

Shuppet/Banette/Mega Banette

Preferred Abilities:

Insomnia/Frisk/Cursed Body
Note: its abiltiy becomes Prankster once it Megaevolves. Insomnia makes you immune to Sleep, which is nice to level up other Pokemon via the Perish Song strategy, Frisk is nice to find wild Pokemon items. Cursed Body is an okay ability that relies on pure chance unfortunately and you’re not a tank.

Once you Megaevolve you will gain the Prankster ability, which will give +1 priority to any Status move. This is an amazing ability.

Welcome to possibly the best PvE Megaevolution. Mega Banette is absurdly overpowered on PvE content, to the point where your only weaknesses are Dark Types and Pokemon with Priority moves. Banette is literally invincible once megaevolved. You can Protect and then Disable the AI’s move, and the AI will be stuck trying to use a move it can’t use while you attack it several times for free. This Pokemon is borderline insane for PvE and you MUST get one.

Duskull/Dusclops/Dusknoir

Preferred Abilities:
Duskull: Levitate/Frisk

Dusclops and Dusknoir: Pressure/Frisk

Note: Pressure makes your opponent lose 2 PP instead of 1 PP when they attack you. This ability is amazing to pressure (yes, that was a pun) opponents in PvP. I already explained Frisk.

With the introduction of Eviolite in Gen 5, Dusclops is one of the tankiest (if not the tankiest, competing with Cofagrigus) Ghost Type Pokemon. It’s also very easy to farm and can fit in many, MANY PvE teams. Extreme usability and reliability make this Pokemon amazing in any PvE fight and sometimes in PvP too.

All best/usable natures:

Dusclops: Bold/Calm/Sassy/Relaxed/Impish/Careful

Dusknoir: Adamant/Brave/Sassy/Relaxed/Impish/Careful

Tropius

Preferred Abilities:

Chlorophyl/Solar Power/Harvest

Note: all three abilities for Tropius are extremely good. Harvest will allow you to restore a used berry in battle. This will help you power up nonstop throughout berry consumption!

Aaaand that’s about it. Tropius is a terrible, garbage, unusable Pokemon. It’s weak to many common Types, has barely any resistances, its movepool and typing are mediocre. If you still are somehow willing to run this thing, good luck, because I have no idea how to recommend using this Pokemon.

All best/usable natures: (don’t trust me on this one) Bold/Calm/Timid/Jolly/, then any nature that is not -speed (Hasty, Naive, Modest, Adamant, Naughty, Rash, idk, this Pokemon is borderline unusable, I legit have no idea how to justify this).

Chingling/Chimecho

Preferred Abilities:

Levitate (only ability, why do half of all Pokemon just have Levitate?)

Chimecho is a cute meme story Pokemon. Fun fact, this was supposed to be a Mythical Pokemon planned for Gen3, but due to development issues was ultimately scrapped and moved to being a normal Pokemon in Gen3’s postgame. This is why in the original Pokedex it was at the last spots and was very hard to find and catch. However, this Pokemon is common and mediocre in PRO, as its movepool is a potato bag.

All best/usable natures: Bold, Calm, Modest, Timid, Hasty, Naive, Rash, Mild.

Absol/Mega Absol

Preferred Abilities:
Pressure/Super Luck/Justified

Note: Super Luck increases your crit chance, Justified your Attack stat if hit by a Dark Type attack. Once it Megaevolves, it gains the ability Magic Bounce.

Mega Absol is an extremely hard hitting but surprisingly disappointing Pokemon for both PvP and PvE. Its stats are slightly lackluster with low bulk and bad typing, but its movepool is decent. I recommend it as a very good and usable PvE Pokemon, it’s fun and cute.

All best/usable natures: Jolly/Adamant/Naive/Lonely/Naughty/Hasty

Snorunt/Glalie/Mega Glalie/Froslass

Preferred Abilities:

Snorunt and Glalie: Inner Focus/Ice Body/Moody

Froslass: Snow Cloak/Cursed Body

Once megaevolved, ability becomes Refrigerate. Like a fridge.

Note: Inner Focus is extremely good to prevent flinches. Moody is a borderline overpowered ability that raises a random stat by 2 stages and decreases another by 1 stage at the end of every turn. This makes Glalie a killing machine after a few turns.

Note 2: ONLY FEMALE SNORUNT CAN EVOLVE INTO FROSLASS.

Just kidding! Glalie is terrible, and its Mega also is. Glalie has base 80 stats everywhere, which suggests it can do anything. No it can’t. It’s terrible. Its movepool is bad and gets extremely outclassed by any other Ice Type, even with a Megaevolution. Froslass is better though. Fast attacker, extremely useful for PvE content to Destiny Bond PvE Bosses and usable as a support Pokemon. It’s also usable as a suicide lead in PvP sometimes.

Glalie: Jolly/Adamant/Naive/Lonely/Naughty/Hasty (note, Glalie can also be a spATKer or mixed since all his base stats are 80, but he’s borderline useless)

Froslass: Timid/Modest/Naive/Hasty/Rash/Mild

Spheal/Sealeo/Walrein

Preferred Abilities:

Thick Fat/Ice Body/Oblivious

Note: Thick Fat helps Walrein resist Fire Type attacks. With Thick Fat, Walrein also x8 resists Ice Type attacks, as a fun fact! Ice Body will heal it every turn under Hailstorm. Oblivious makes it immune to Taunt and infatuation.

Walrein is CHONKY. It’s big. It’s not a small boy. It’s a very big seal. It’s a VERY fun PvE Pokemon, but gets outclassed by anything in PvP.

All best/usable natures: Bold, Calm, Modest, Quiet, Timid, Hasty, Naive, Rash, Mild, Adamant, Brave.

Clamperl/Huntail/Gorebyss

Preferred Abilities:

Clamperl: Shell Armor/Rattled

Gorebyss: Swift Swim/Hydration

Huntail: Swift Swim/Water Veil

Note: Rattled increases your Speed sharply after being hit by a Dark, Ghost or Bug Type attack, Shell Armor prevents critical hits and Swift Swim doubles your Speed under Rain.

So, this is the weirdest thing. Clamperl equipped with a Deep Sea Tooth has its SpATK doubled, to the point where it can compete with KYOGRE. Yes, you read that right. If you equip a Clamperl with a Tooth and use it properly, you can sweep PvP and PvE content and melt everyone there. Abusing the move Shell Smash makes you a killing machine, and not only that, Huntail and Gorebyss get the move too. The three are very solid PvE options. The problem is that Clamperl is rare and hard to hunt, unfortunately. Gorebyss and Clamperl are special sweepers, Huntail is a physical sweeper.

Relicanth

Relicanth is a meme Pokemon that is absolutely forgotten except for the fact that it used to be required to capture the Three Regi Legendaries. Funnily enough, its three abilities are amazing, but it’s basically a worse Kabutops, deals more damage thanks to Head Smash but is way slower. It’s a meme Pokemon with next to no usability in PvP but it’s fun to use in PvE!

Luvdisc

Preferred Abilities:
Swift Swim/Hydration

Luvdisc is just another meme Pokemon. It’s a weak special Water Type attacker that has literally nothing going for it.

Bagon/Shelgon/Salamance/Mega Salamance

Bagon: Rock Head/Sheer Force

Shelgon: Rock Head/Overcoat

Note: Overcoat protects you from many moves like Stun Spore.

Salamance is one of the best Dragon Types in PRO. Access to Roost to heal itself, boosting capabilities with Dragon Dance, absurdly high stats once megaevolved and the ability to be a mixed sweeper with both physical and special attacks, this thing goes on a rampage if it sets up a single Dragon Dance.
If you let this thing set up in front of you, you’re done.

Beldum/Metang/Metagross/Mega Metagross

Preferred Abilities:

Clear Body/Light Metal

(Becomes Tough Claws once megaevolved)

Note: Clear Body prevents stat drops from the enemy. Example:

Hoothoot uses Growl, but Metagross does not have an ATK drop.

However, it does not protect you from your own stat drops. Example:

Metagross uses Hammer Arm, but its Speed will still lower. Light Metal only makes you lighter.

Metagross is infamous for being one of the strongest Pokemon in existence. It is extremely hard to hunt, has a catchrate lower than most Legendary Pokemon, it damages itself with Take Down, but it is so rewarding. Possibly the best PvP Mega (if we don’t count banned Megaevolutions, which are over 6 at this point). Extremely good typing, resists over 8 Types, absurdly high stats, stupidly insane when Megaevolved, hits like a truck and is amazing for both PvE and PvP content. This is one of the best endgame Pokemons in PRO.

Regirock

Preferred Abilities:

Clear Body/Sturdy

Both abilities are a good choice on this dude.

Regirock is a massive rock, massive physical tank with an absurd 200 DEF Base Stat. What’s the problem? Its SPDEF is pathetic and it gets no access to recovery moves. There are much, MUCH better and more balanced choices for Stealth Rockers that have better stat spreads, abilities and movepools than this thing (hi Tyranitar).

Regice

Regice is like Regirock, but on the Specially Defensive side. Same problems, but worse, because the Ice Type is PATHETIC as a defensive typing. It’s still pretty cool to use though. Haha walking fridge go brrr.

RegiSteel

Preferred Abilities:

Clear Body/Light Metal

The only viable Regi out of the Trio (Gigas is the fourth one but it’s not obtainable yet in PRO and it’s borderline useless), RegiSteel is an okay option for both PvE and PvP content as a support tool. Immense bulk and decent power, it’s an okay Steel Type choice. Still gets outclassed by too many things though.

All best/usable natures: Impish/Careful

Latias/Mega Latias

Preferred Abilities:
Levitate (only ability, does not change with Mega)

Latias is an extremely good support/offensive Pokemon that has the ability to sweep entire teams alone abusing Stored Power + Refresh + Roost + a setting up move, which can also be an extremely fast offensive lategame cleaner with Scarf or it can also support its teammates. This is the defensive one of the Lati Duo.

Latios/Mega Latios

Preferred Abilities:

Levitate (only ability, does not change with Mega)
 

Latios is Latias, but on offensive steroids, this thing will nuke any team down via Draco Meteor and Specs spam, it has a decent offensive movepool and hits extremely hard, very high Speed tier combined with an absurd Megaevolution allows it to punch holes through entire teams.

Kyogre/Primal Kyogre (unreleased)

Preferred Abilities:
Drizzle (only ability, as if it needed one lol, becomes Primordial Sea once it changes into its Primal Form)

No explanation needed, this thing is banned into existence for a good reason. Absurd offensive stats boosted under Rain.

Thanks to its Shell Armor and Curse access, you can boost with 6 Curse and be immune to Critical Hits and then proceed to sweep bosses alone with this thing. In PvE this thing is amazing, it’s just worthless in PvP because it’s weak to way too many offensive Types.

Infernape is an extremely fast offensive and mixed sweeper that often works as a Lead in PvP. Amazing option in PvP and PvE content, this thing is always worth running!

This guy’s abilities are weird. It’s a tanky special attacker with LOTS of utility. I recommend it for both PvE and PvP, it’s not the best in PvP but its typing is amazing. “Only” (lol) weak to Ground, Electric and Fighting, resists over 9 Types! Its movepool leaves much to be desired though.

Staraptor is probably one of the best Flying Pokemon for both PvP and PvE. Insanely good debuffer thanks to Featherdance + Roost + Intimidate + Sand Attack + Scary Face for PvE content and a brutal sweeper in PvP with Double-Edge, Brave Bird, Close Combat, Quick Attack and U-Turn, this thing puts anything into shreds. I SERIOUSLY suggest you use him for both purposes.

Bidoof/Bibarel

Bibarel is amazing. It’s an extremely underrated PvE monster. Not only is it a good HM Slave, but it’s one of the best Simple abusers. Combine Simple + Curse + Amnesia + Aqua Jet, and you set up your SPDEF to max in 2 Amnesia, then 3 Curse for max ATK and DEF, and your Aqua Jets will always go first, have STAB and you’ll be unbreakable. This is an extremely gimmicky PvE sweeper that can also work in PvP if used properly. Use this thing, it’s fun!

Kricke/Kricketune (WE DO NOT SPEAK ABOUT THE KRICKE INCIDENT)

Note: Technician in my personal opinion is way better (read on Scyther/Scizor), but this Pokemon is a meme mon, so Swarm also works.

Kricke is a meme Pokemon. It’s probably one of the worst if not the worst Bug Type, it has an extremely curious movepool with access to both support and attacking moves, but its stats are mediocre at best. Good for Sinnoh Story, can be used to cheese specific PvE bosses with Perish Song.

Shinx/Luxio/Luxray

Luxray’s a very underrated but at the same time underwhelming Pokemon. Just a bit extra Speed and ATK and the addition of the Dark Type onto it would’ve made this thing an amazing PvP contender. Nonetheless, it’s held back by a potato speed tier (just 70), while it has massive ATK and decent bulk. It’s an amazing PvE Pokemon though, but it’s very hard to find and hunt for some reason.

Cranidos/Rampardos

Ever heard of “Good at one thing, garbage at everything else”? This is basically the Rock Lee of Pokemon. A Pokemon with an obscene ATK stat (165, higher than Groudon, for example), with other mediocre stats. To say that Rampardos hits hard is an understatement, this thing hits so hard it could send you across the country. Absurdly oversized ATK stat with two incredible abilities but with a garbage movepool it cannot exploit much. It’s a very fun Pokemon to use, it’s just garbage in PvP, but decent in PvE.

Shieldon/Bastiodon

This thing is basically a massive tank with no recovery move access outside of rest and the capability of returning any attacks with Metal Burst. This is a very viable Tank Pokemon for PvE content, but it’s beyond garbage in PvP. Somehow it gets access to two amazing abilities and a decent stat spread, but it has nothing really going for it.

Burmy/Wordamam Grass/Ground/Steel/Mothim

Preferred Abilities:

Burmy: Shed Skin/Overcoat

Wordamam: Anticipation/Overcoat

Mothim: Swarm/Tinted Lens

Note: Burmy can only evolve into Wordamam IF IT’S FEMALE. Burmy can only evolve into Mothim IF IT’S MALE. Wordamam’s evolved form and typing is chosen depending on the place where you level up Burmy to evolve it. Choose carefully where you evolve it to get a specific form.

This meme Pokemon is extremely weird to explain. Depending on its gender, you get the typical useless Bug/Flying Type that everyone forgets its existence because it’s mediocre, has bad stats and is disappointing (in my personal opinion, Mothim is okay for PvE, but one quick look at the pokedex and you’ll realise how bad it is), or the typical useless Bug/Grass Type that everyone forgets… you get the point.

Wordamam is like a tanky/support attacker that is mediocre at best. It’s good for PvE though.

Mothim is like a fusion between Butterfree and Parasect, but with worse stats and less utility.

Vespiquen: Pressure/Unnerve

Combee’s abilities are USELESS. Literally USELESS. Honey Gather is not coded in PRO, and Hustle gives you an ATK boost, on a SPATK user, that is a TANK Pokemon (or supposed to). You need Honey Gather so that it becomes Pressure once evolved to Vespiquen.

Vespiquen is an attempt at a tanky Bug/Flying Type. What’s the problem? It has really good stats and a good movepool. BUT IT’S SLOW. AND IT HAS MANY WEAKNESSES. Ice, Fire, Rock (4 times), Electric, Flying. The most common offensive Types. AND YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE A TANK.

This Pokemon is very easy to exploit to cheese PvE fights, but for the love of god don’t use this thing in PVP.

Pachirisu

Pachirisu is a meme Pokemon. Yes, I know it’s so cute and it won a World Championship, but trust me, since there’s no double battles in PRO, this thing is borderline useless in PvP. However, in PvE, it finds its pick as… nothing. Well, it’s supposed to be a cute, defensive utility Pokemon, but it’s a hard Pokemon to hunt and it requires its hidden ability (Volt Absorb) to be usable anywhere. It gets access to a lot of cool support utility moves though!

Buizel/Floatzel

Preferred Abilities:
Swift Swim/Water Veil

Floatzel is basically a fast, VERY fast strong mixed attacker that is extremely fun to use. 105 base ATK and an absurd base 115 SPEED (faster than Gengar, by the way), make this Pokemon look very appealing!

… and that’s where the appeal ends. This thing’s movepool is really, really poor, it’s not terrible but it’s poor. It’s a very good PvE Pokemon but it gets outclassed in PvP by any other Swift Swim user.

It’s also a cute and easy Pokemon to farm, so why not add one to your team?

Cherubi/Cherrim

This is yet another Grass Type meme Pokemon that is borderline garbage everywhere, even in PvE. There is literally nothing I can really say to support using Cherrim. Cherrim is a weird Grass Type that has access to an alternative form when Sunny Day is active. Its ability Flower Gift gives you a 50% boost on the ATK (attention, ATK, not SPATK) and the SPDEF of you and any allied Pokemon in battle.

The first problem is that the form for Cherrim is not coded. The second problem is that there’s no double battles in PRO. The third problem is that Cherrim is a SPATK user, not an ATK. This thing is so useless I don’t even have words to describe it. Mediocre stats, movepool and nonexistant gimmick make this thing a literal joke.

Shellos/Gastrodon

Preferred Abilities:
Sticky Hold/Storm Drain/Sand Force

Behold, one of the cutest and best tanks for both PvE and PvP content! This thing is obnoxious and so massive it’s not even funny. Shellos is a cute tank with a lot of support tools in its movepool while Gastrodon is the steroided evolved version. Not only does Storm Drain give it a Water immunity, it also makes it so that Gastrodon is immune to both Electric and Water Type attacks. Gastrodon is an extremely bulky tank for all PRO content and I really recommend you get one!

Small note: its eastern and western forms are not coded. Also, you can ignore Sand Force and Sticky Hold, they’re useless for this Pokemon.

Drifloon/Drifblim

Drifblim is an extremely weird Pokemon. It’s supposed to be a mix of a decently fast mixed tanky attacker that tries to be good at everything but is actually bad at everything. This is because its weird stat spread does not help it at all. Massive HP stat combined with garbage defense stats and completely average ATK, SPATK and SPEED stats make it the definition of average. Aftermath is not a good ability as it only really has an effect if you’re defeated by a physical attack, and even then, you just damage 25% of the enemies’ max HP. It’s nothing compared to just using Night Shade and dealing 100 HP at the very least thanks to how Night Shade works. Unburden is nice, if you have a consumable item you will double your SPEED stat, but that means you can only run a consumable item in battle. Flare Boost is interesting, if you are burned your SPATK stat will be increased massively, but you will be damaged every single turn.

Drifblim is a mix of everything, tankiness and offense and utility, but with a really weird stat spread. It’s also often used for PvE content since it can set up on bosses. I kinda recommend trying it out, it’s an underrated cute balloon.

Buneary/Lopunny/Mega Lopunny

Lopunny: Cute Charm/Klutz/Limber

When meagevolved, its ability becomes Scrappy.

A fan favourite, incredibly hated and loved (specially by those who abide by the rules, if you get what I mean), this Pokemon is at the same time one of the worst and best Normal Types in Pokemon. Its base form is completely useless and should never be used, at best, it’s a pivot that can cripple tanks by using Switcheroo with the move Assault Vest with the ability Klutz (Klutz disables the effects of the items you hold, thus Assault Vest’s restriction on status moves is removed, so you can use Switcheroo) to give the Assault Vest to an enemy tank. Now, this enemy tank can only attack and not use any status moves.

Aside from that strategy, Mega Lopunny excels for being extremely hard and having an insanely good ability, Scrappy, which allows it to hit any Ghost Type Pokemon with Fighting and Normal Type attacks. The only way to stop this thing is by praying to the lord that this thing gets paralysed or burned somehow, or that it misses Hi Jump Kick twice and it sends itself into the shadow realm. Mega Lopunny is an absurdly good Megaevolution for both PvP and PvE content and I 100% recommend you use this thing.

Glameow/Purugly

Preferred Abilities:
Glameow: Limber/Own Tempo/Keen Eye

Purugly: Thick Fat/Own Tempo/Defiant

Have you ever fed your neighbour’s fat cat? That typical cat that is very cuddly but if you make it angry it runs after you and tries to murder you? That’s basically Purugly, a fat cat on steroids.

Purugly is a gimmick, very cool to use Normal Type Pokemon with a decent movepool, insane abilities (Thick Fat and Defiant are absurdly good by themselves), but subpar compared to other Pokemon.

Purugly runs VERY FAST (faster than Gengar) and hits hard, its abilities are good and its movepool is decent, its stats are not the best though. VERY fun PvP and PvE meme Pokemon to use, I 100% recommend this thing.

Bronzor/Bronzong

Bronzong is possibly one of the best PvE support Pokemon in PRO. This Pokemon is incredible, it has an incredible typing, up to two immunities with Levitate, over nine resistances, access to a massive amount of support moves, incredible stats and very easy to farm. Bronzong is an incredible option for both story and PvE content, massive bulk and the capability to set up Stealth Rocks, Light Screen and Reflect, Toxic and many, MANY utility moves while it can slowly wear down opponents. Please use this thing. Heatproof makes it neutral to Fire Type attacks.

Chatot

Welcome to the meme Pokemon, the edition! Chatot is probably the most known meme Pokemon. This Pokemon used to be able to copy ANY sounds you made to your Nintendo DS and it used them to power up its move called Chatter. Since then, the move’s been banned due to certain people using it to insult others in Wifi battles. Chatot is a specially attacking bird with literally next to no purpose, as it gets HEAVILY outclassed by Swellow in EVERY single sense. Remember kids, whatever Chatot can do, Swellow can do it better.

Spiritomb

Spiritomb is quite unique. Born to be a Pokemon that was supposed to be rare and only obtainable through meeting many people in local play (worst idea ever, but oh well), it’s a tanky mixed attacker with access to utility and offensive moves alike. It also has a pretty decent statline and it is only weak to Fairy. Before Gen 6, this Pokemon had no weaknesses! It’s unfortunately a very rare Pokemon to find, but it’s very fun to use.

Welcome to Cynthia.jpg, or nightmare fueled childhood every time you reached the champion in Gen 4. This is Garchomp, the Dragon that said “screw it all, I’m just gonna do everything right!”

Born to be a physical, special, mixed, setup, tank attacker, this Pokemon was banned from competitive more than twice due to how disgustingly powerful it is. Extremely fast, tanky, hits like a truck, very annoying to deal with, this Pokemon has it all.

Garchomp prefers Rough Skin to be able to chip the opponent’s Pokemon slowly through the combination of Rocky Helmet and Rough Skin. It can also simply run an offensive set + Rough Skin. Additionally, you can also use Sand Veil under sandstorm to be a disgusting sand abuser and dodge many attacks that would’ve otherwise resulted in your death. This thing is EXTREMELY powerful for both PvP and PvE content, and it’s one of the most seeked after Pokemon in PRO.

Lucario is a very fun to use mixed sweeper. It can attack physically, specially or in both sides at the same time. Its decent movepool, protagonist of a movie, cool looking persona (no this is not a videogame reference) make it very appealing to be played in both PvP and PvE content. Its megaevolution (not released, no idea why) is one of the most broken Megaevolutions in all of Pokemon. This is a great option for both PvP and PvE content!

Hippopotas/Hippowdon

Welcome to Hippowdown, the Hippopopopopotamus! This thing is EXTREMELY bulky, viable in both PvP and PvE content, fun to use and easy to understand. Its movepool is also very welcoming to newbies and it is only used in the same way: always as an easy to use ready and available Sand Setter and tank. I really recommend this Pokemon. Also, its preevo is cute!

Skorupi/Drapion

Drapion is a very underrated Pokemon. Fun to use as a gimmick both in PvP and PvE, it’s a very tanky attacker that feels slightly underwhelming due to its stat spread. Hits decently hard thanks to its high critical chance moves + sniper, amazing typing (only weak to Ground!), it is a tanky option for all content. It’s fun to use, so why not give it a chance?

Croagunk/Toxicroak

Croagunk and Toxicroak might look like gangster toads, because that’s basically what they are. Do you dare look badly at this thing? Watch it set up in front of your entire team, laugh at your tanks thanks to its Poison status immunity + Water Type attacks immunity thanks to Dry Skin, heal itself up and run over your team. This thing is criminally underrated and it’s EXTREMELY easy to level up in any Water location as Dry Skin makes it immune to almost anything wild Pokemon will throw at you. Please, use this thing!

Carnivine

Welcome to Carnivine, or “piranha plant with literally no way to use it because it’s a meme in every single sense). Uninteresting pure Grass typing (could be Grass and Dark Type instead), unnecessary ability (it already resists Ground Type attacks thanks to its Grass typing, why not give it Strong Jaw instead? IT’S LITERALLY A PIRANHA PLANT). This thing is a very slow physical and special attacker. It’s an okay Pokemon for PvE, but don’t use it in PvP, for your own good.

Finneon/Lumineon

Lumineon is just disappointing. Average at best stats, very good abilities with a garbage movepool, it’s the definition of “hey, I’m a Water Type. That’s all I do, I throw Water”. If you want to use this thing I guess you can use it, I just have nothing to really recommend this thing for.

Snover/Abomasnow/Mega Abomasnow

Abomasnow is one of the two Snow Warning (Hail weather) setters in PvP. The other one is Ninetales Alolan. Guess who has a terrible typing? Abomasnow. Guess who doesn’t? Ninetales. Guess who is slow and mediocre? Abomasnow. Guess who isn’t? Ninetales.

Jokes aside, Abomasnow is actually an incredible Pokemon once megaevolved. It becomes an extremely slow abomination that hits like a truck in Trick Room. Over 130 base SpATK and Atk, under Trick Room you will almost always attack first. Your Wood Hammer can literally warp reality of how hard it will hit. It also gets priority in Ice Shard, and its movepool is quite decent for an Ice Type. I seriously suggest you try this thing, even if it has more weaknesses than holes a cheese.

Uxie

Uxie is a very fun to use support Pokemon with absurdly high defenses (base 130 SPDEF and DEF with 75 HP), often used as a support tool in Trick Room teams. Nonetheless, this Pokemon gets heavily outclassed by Cresselia, introduced in the same gen. It’s still a cute Pokemon to use though.

Mesprit

Mesprit is extremely weird to use. Base ATK, DEF, SPATK and SPDEF at 105, this sounds great, but its speed is 80 and it does not have the best movepool ever. This is a weird Pokemon experiment. Mesprit attempts to be good at everything while in reality it gets heavily outclassed by other Pokemon that are better at a single thing and thus outclass Mesprit, who is mediocre even with extremely good stats.

Azelf

Azelf is by far the best one of the three. Insane movepool, extremely good offensive Pokemon, able to fill diferent offensive roles in a team and can be stuck into any team thanks to its amazing stat spread. It’s one of my personal favourites with good reason. Use it, you will not regret it!

Okay, this thing has more forms than I have pants. Let me go one by one:

Rotom Wash: Possibly the best and most viable option. Best typing (only weak to Grass Type attacks), very bulky, a lot of utility options, a few useful resistances and it can also be offensive if needed.

Rotom Heat: SPILL DA HEAT, this thing is a running oven. Unfortunately due to its typing it is forced to be offensive, as defensively it is not the best (don’t underestimate it though, it only has two weaknesses, Rock and Water, but they are VERY common).

Rotom Grass: Copy the same as Rotom Heat, but with WAY more weaknesses, and worse.

Rotom Fridge (Fridge? Is it called? Or Ice Cream dealer?): Copy the same as the two above, but with the worst typing.

Rotom Fan: don’t even get me starting on this thing.

IT’S A FLYING TYPE WITH LEVITATE. WHY. WHY DID ANYONE THING IT WAS A GOOD IDEA TO GIVE IT LEVITATE WHEN IT’S A FLYING TYPE. JUST WHY. DON’T USE THIS FORM.

Rotom is VERY hard to hunt, only in Excavations and VERY rarely in events. Always get a good one, because they’re VERY handy in PvP (to the point where over 30% of PvP teams carry a Rotom in them).

Giratina/Giratina Origin (unobtainable)

Darkrai

Also known as the most disgusting Protect + Disable abuser in PvE, this legendary is only obtainable in Halloween. Darkrai is possibly the most broken PvE sweeper aside from Mega Banette. You Protect + Disable your opponent, set up 3 Nasty Plots and proceed to sweep any boss that does not resist your Dark Pulse. If possible, get this thing because it’s a godly PvE sweeper. As far as I know it’s banned in PvP, as it snowballs absurdly fast for your opponent to handle it.

Shaymin/Shaymin Sky

Preferred Abilities:
Natural Cure (standard), Serene Grace (sky)

Shaymin Sky is possibly one of the most disgusting Pokemon to ever exist. Imagine Togekiss on steroids, being able to hit almost as double as hard, way faster and more annoying. I don’t even know why its Sky form exists, it’s disgusting beyond belief. Its base form is cute and easily defeatable, as it is weak to many common offensive Types.

All best/usable natures: Timid/Bold. Timid for Sky, Bold for standard (you can also run Timid if you want).

Regigigas (unobtainable)

Preferred Abilities:
Slow Start (only ability)

At a first glance, you look at Regigigas stats and you’ll be happy. Happy until you realise its ability, Slow Start, slows its ATK and SPEED by 50% for 5 turns. By the way, THIS ABILITY RESETS EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU SWITCH IT IN. Imagine having to wait FIVE GODDAMN TURNS for it to actually function properly. Regigigas hits like a truck, but until 5 turns have passed, it is VERY easy to defeat. It is unfortunately crippled by its ability.

Arceus (of course this thing is unobtainable lmao)

MultiType (only ability)

I mean, what can you really say about this thing? It’s the god of all Pokemon. Over 15 forms, each form has unique movesets thanks to its infinite flexibility, imagine getting into a PvP game and you find an Arceus in team preview. Good luck guessing which one of its 15 forms it is, AND THEN GUESS WHICH MOVESET IT IS USING BECAUSE IT CAN LEARN ANY MOVE IN EXISTENCE. It’s able to do anything it wants.

(note, there are some moves it has no access to, but thank god it can’t)

UNOVA

Victini (unobtainable)

Preferred Abilities:

Victory Star (only ability)

The name of the ability sounds cool and everything, but it only gives you a 10% accuracy boost. This thing could’ve probably gotten something like Adaptability instead, but it would’ve probably been way too broken. Victini is an absolute prowess with an insanely good offensive movepool, the ability to be a mixed attacker and to attack with V-Create, a 180 base power (yes, you read that right, 180) Fire Type attack that is somewhat spammable since it does not reduce your ATK or SPATK.

Snivy/Servine/Serperior

Preferred Abilities:
Overgrow/Contrary

Possibly the most broken starter in Pokemon, Contrary REVERSES all stat boosts. If you use Leaf Storm, instead of having your SPATK drop, IT WILL INCREASE. Realise why this is broken? Yes, because it go pew pew and you suddenly get to +6 SPATK and proceed to oneshot anything in your path. Serperior is very fast, decently tanky and somewhat offensively decent. If left unchecked it will run all over your entire team.

Tepig/Pignite/Emboar

Preferred Abilities:

Tepig and Pignite: Blaze/Thick Fat

Emboar: Blaze/Reckless

Tepig is a very cute pig (wow, did you guess it was a pig because it has pig in the name?). It’s a fun physical attacker, subpar compared to other physical sweepers, but it is VERY bulky and cute. It just has a few glaring weaknesses unfortunately, but it is still a good Fire Type.

Oshawott/Dewott/Samurott

Preferred Abilities:
Torrent/Shell Armor

All two abilities for the Oshawott line are great. Shell Armor prevents crits (which is a nice bonus, but it’s not really obligatory), and Torrent powers up your Water Type attacks if your HP is 30% or lower. It’s overall a very fun Water Type Pokemon to use, it can attack both physically and specially.

Patrat/Watchog

Patrat: Run Away/Keen Eye/Analytic

This is an extremely weird Pokemon. It’s a decently fast physical attacker, but it has literally next to no real usage. It’s just a walking gimmick. Its movepool is actually good, but its stats are mediocre.

Lillipup/Herdier/Stoutland

Preferred Abilities:

Lillipup: Vital Spirit/Pickup/Run Away

Herdier and Stoutland: Intimidate/Sand Rush/Scrappy
 

One of the most underrated Normal Type Pokemon ever, Stoutland has three extremely good abilities. Intimidate lets it fight off physical attackers, Sand Rush allows it to become a Sand Sweeper and Scrappy allows it to hit Ghost Types with Normal Type attacks. In my personal preference, I personally believe Sand Rush > Intimidate > Scrappy if possible.

Purrloin/Liepard

Preferred Abilities:
Limber/Unburden/Prankster

Liepard is by far on of the most gimmicky, disgusting and annoying Pokemon to exist in the lower tiers. Its access to Prankster and its 305492 (exaggeration) support moves allows it to inflict crippling deppression onto opposing tanks to then simply set up with Nasty Plot and sweep your team. It’s cute too.

Pansage/Simisage

Gluttony/Overgrow

Simisage is a gimmicky Grass Type attacker with mixed sweeper stats. It’s one of the three monkeys in Gen 5 and the 3 are complete meme Pokemon because they are designed to be gimmick Pokemon. They’re still fun to use though. Very fun PvE Pokemon with decent movepools!

Pansear/Simisear

The three Musharna abilities are next to useless. Forewarn is the only usable one because it shows one of the moves of the enemy Pokemon, which can give you a massive advantage in PvP. Synchronise is a PvE only ability (refer to Abra and Natu), and Telepathy is useless outside of Double Battles. Musharna is a tanky special attacker and utility helper for both PvE and PvP.

By far one of the worst Flying Types, it’s not absolutely terrible or garbage, it just has no niche anywhere. Terrible movepool, decent stats and abilities but no real reason to run it over Staraptor or Pidgeot. It’s okay for PvE though.

Fun fact, Zebstrika’s three abilities are insane. Lightningrod grants an immunity to Electric Type attacks, cancels them and increases your SPATK. Motor Drive does the same and increases your SPEED. Sap Sipper cancels Grass Type attacks and gives you an ATK boost. You heard that right, all of its abilities give it an extra immunity. So, what’s the problem?

Gamefreak decided to give a PHYSICAL ATTACKER a bad PHYSICAL MOVESET on a GOOD PHYSICAL ATTACK STAT. For SOME REASON. It’s better on the special side, so to make this thing viable in PvE or PvP, you have to run it mixed.

Roggenrola/Boldore/Gigalith

Extremely underrated Trick Room sweeper and Sand Setter, Gigalith’s ATK and DEF stats are gigantic. It can break through anything it wants. Just give it a Trick Room boost, put sandstorm in + Sand Force, and enjoy this thing oneshotting anything with a Choice Band equipped. After Stealth Rocks, this thing oneshots a Clefable. Extremely fun physical attacker and sand setter for PvE content. Use this thing!

Woobat/Swoobat

Unaware/Klutz/Simple

Swoobat is extremely underrated. Amazing speed tier and the ability to double your SPATK and SPDEF in one turn with the combination of Calm Mind + Simple, this thing sweeps PvE and Story content as if it was nothing. If… it weren’t because it’s a very rare Pokemon and can only be found in side areas such as Trainer’s Valley or Love Island. Oh well.

Drilbur/Excadrill

Preferred Abilities:

Sand Rush/Sand Force/Mold Breaker
 

Excadrill. This thing needs no introduction, one of the most amazing Gen 5 Pokemon (if not the best one for PvP), this fills two different roles in any team: fast, extremely hard hitting attacker that can abuse Sand Rush to outspeed anything and oneshot entire teams, or extremely flexible lead in any PvP team that can both be a tanky Stealth Rock and Rapid Spinner or just an offensive lead. I REALLY recommend this thing on any team.

Audino/Mega Audino

Preferred Abilities:
Healer/Regenerator/Klutz (Mega Audino gains Regenerator)

Audino’s Healer and Klutz are useless since Healer only works in double battles and Klutz has no other utility than the Assault Vest + Trick/Switcheroo combo. Regenerator is an extremely broken ability you should always look forward to having. Audino is probably the worst Mega to exist, it has next to no viability, even with very good stats it’s a waste of a Mega slot. Any other Regenerator Pokemon does the same or better in PvP. However, Audino is a great support addition for PvE teams, so I recommend you use it there instead.

Timburr/Gurdurr/Conkeldurr

Arguably the best Fighting Type Pokemon for both PvP and PvE, Conkeldurr is massive. Viable as both a wallbreaker and sweeper in PvP and a Boss Sweeper in PvE, Conkeldurr is an amazing addition to any team. Insane HP and ATK stats, access to priority, amazing movepool and great utility in Drain Punch, its three abilities are also usable in a PvP setting. Conkeldurr is one of the best possible additions to any team.

Tympole/Palpitoad/Seismitoad

Seismitoad is an extremely underrated addition to any Rain team. Capable of being both a physical and special sweeper, it hits hard, it has very good and above average stats and good enough movepool to fit in any fun team. Seismitoad is an excellent addition in any Rain related PvP team or for your Story progress if you are looking for a cool Water Type.

Note: There are ways to use it with Bold and Calm + Water Absorb, it is however not really recommended because there are better options like Gastrodon or Quagsire that can do exactly the same.

Throh

Throh is a tanky physical attacker that represents Sumo wrestling to its fullest. Tanky, slow and fun to use, its abilities and stats are great. Throh is not a bad Pokemon, it’s just that there are better options that do exactly the same. Conkeldurr, for example.
