Could it be that me and lance tied due to his recoil on flare blitz? the game let me progress to the next room where gary waits, when i thought i was going to teleport back. i dont mind doing it again since i just used one pokemon to get there

I just beat Lance and i went to battle Gary after, but when i initiated the conversation with him i got sent back to the league entrance.
