nevermind I recaptured an exeggcute then evolved it and was able to return weird...

i was fighting the boss that steals zapdos and moltres when i was transported to lilycove because i forgot to stop at shamouti PC and when i tried to return it says in my PokeDex i no longer own a exeggutor even though its in my party and can no longer return to the island for the legendary bird quest?
