I can't enter Gold Gym (Saffron City) due to a bug. I became Kanto Champion (requirement to enter the buidling) but the game won't recognise me as champion for that door.

I have beaten the Elite 4 in Kanto and I can not enter the Gold Gym (Saffron City). The requirement to enter is to be Kanto Champion.
