Starter keeps resetting to its original level

Ah yes thank you very much! to you as well -
just started hoenn. played for couple of hours . level up my starter for quite sometime. log out . then after a few hours , i played again to see my starter returned to the original state that i got him. it even recorded in my pokedex that it evolved. is there a fix?
