Is it possible to catch any of the starter pokemon?

Hi! I think this is a really good game and well done I just kind of have a worry that maybe it's not legal? I just wanna know if the owners of the pokemon trademarks or whatever will ever try and pull the plug on this or if this is cleared with them or what the status is regarding that. I just don't wanna get into it when get a msg suddenly that it's been shutdown due to copyright or something. Thanks
