Hi there and foremost, I'm sorry for your inconvenience.

Please try the following steps:

1. Pass the leadership to someone else,
   
2. Get kicked, then reinvited and given leadership back,
   
3. Promote back to Officer and that should work

You may need to do it a couple times if it doesn't work right away. Again, sorry for the inconvenience, but a permanent fix hasn't been patched yet.

This is a bug that's been around for a couple of years, and yet there's still not a permanent fix? Since guilds are sort of a big deal on this game (have enough members, and get an EXP boost, etc.), I'd think this would've been a high-priority issue.
