Multiscale and counter

It seems that multiscale halves the damage done from counter. In pvp, my skarmory lost half health and only did a little over half to the opposing dragonite using counter. Not sure if this applies with other direct damage attacks.

 

Bulbapedia description of multiscale: Multiscale reduces damage taken from damage-dealing moves by half when at maximum HP. It does not reduce the amount of HP taken from moves that deal direct damage.
