Sorry for the inconvenience that was caused. To you first point. I assume that you were against a NoGuard Pokémon, like Machamp, which used Ice Punch against your Pokémon in the air. This is the correct interaction of the ability and the move. You can find more about that here.

 

To your second point. Beldum has one of the lowest catchrates in-game, it shares the same catch rate with the legendary Jirachi and other legendary or mythical Pokémon. The catch rate is the same as in the original games, so we cannot really do anything about it. The best way to catch it is by False Swiping it with a Pokémon like Aegislash, which cannot get touched by Take Down but can False Swipe the Beldum. You can also use a Masterball or multiple Ultra Balls in order to catch it.
