MMORPG -> Class system

Featured Replies

Recently, I was talking with a friend really lucky with IV's on his bird types pokemon and I came with an idea.

Why not implement some kind of class-system in pokemon as it is a MMORPG. Actually, it already exists but for NPC only (bird keeper, scientist, medium ...).

Let's take the example of the the bird keeper... I imagine he can recognize the good birds, make a better use of them and he's always looking at the sky:

- +5% encounter with fly-type pokemons

- +2/5 to IV's of the catched fly-type pokemons (still capped at 31)

- -5% encounter with ground-type pokemons

- A bonus to base stats of all the fly-types he's using (this point could be more difficult to implement to keep a well-balanced game but I'm sure it would be interesting). This bonus should be linked to the player and not to the pokemon to make sure to lose it when traded.

Pros:

- More interactions possible between players: Hey Dude, could I hire you to catch me a good geodude ?

- Could give a chance to some forgotten pokemons.

- A real difference between players (customization !!).

- Broken metagame. I mean, the tier list would be different in PRO.

Cons:

- Some pokemons could be overpowered.

What do you think about it ?

I love the idea but sadly that's the kind of thing that would makes me drop the game. Just because it will bring PRO too far from the original game. In my opinion the key is to stay as close as possible from the original game, and change only little things that would break the game as a MMO.

I quite honestly do not see this happening as it changes the game far too much.
