Some items are hidden in the map, my suggestion is to get help from your pokemon. When you're close to a hidden item on your Pokemon appears a light bulb or an exclamation mark. I dunno whether there is in the game the item detector, however I think it would be a nice thing to get help from your pokemon to search for items in the map.

Very cool idea! There are hidden items, but no location assist exists at this point - you have to put in serious work to find them (or be very perceptive). We also have "dig spots" where your pokemon can dig for items (with a small chance of fossils!).
