Ok so on my account I've done most/all fights so trainers stopping me is rare. However on leev island the trainers reset.

 

Way it used to work:

 

So before as soon as they got the '!' above the head untill you entered the battle window you could log out.

Then you would relog, and quickly move out of the trainer line of site (LoS).

The trainer would still think you hadn't fought and this process would have to be repeated if you re-entered LoS.

 

How it works now (leev island)

 

Now you enter LoS.

Wait untill they come to you and the text box opens but before the battle window opens.

Log out in this time period.

Log back in.

The NPC now believe's you have fought with them and you can freely re-enter LoS

 

So I did it by mistake on one of them. The 2nd one I logged back out during the '!' period and on logging in they instantly wanted to fight. However then logging out during the text box phase worked with the last 5 or so trainers. NOT tested anywhere else
