resolved Stuck in Oaks Lab

Problem: I am stuck in Oaks Lab and he wont let me leave. Telling me to speak to him, but dialogue isnt starting with him

 

What i think the Problem is:

I played in 2016 last time with a whopping 2 hour game time.

After searching the forums I found out that accounts with under 10 hour game time had their accounts completely reset with the merge of red and blue to silver. I am definitly in this category.

But when i started the game I was in Viridian Forest, with NO pokemon whatsoever. It was like my progress got resetted but my Position remained the same.

As i walked back to the starting area i first got into my house and after that into Oaks Laboratory. No story happened while i was on my way and no story happened now that i am in Oaks Lab.

One Pokeball is missing on the table, which leads me to believe that the game thinks that i already took one, which would be correct if it wasnt for the fact that my account shoulda been reset.

The laptop behind Oak tells me that i own no Pokedex in which i could get back missing pokedex entries, fair enough.

 

My initial Problem is definitly to be categorized into NPC and scripting, but if what I think the problem actually is, this may be the wrong subforum.

If one can help me it would be very much appreciated, even if its only another reset of my account, because being the assistant of Professor Oak fills one with pride ofc, but i would like to actually play the game. (and on a sidenote, how can i support him if he aint talking to me)

Update:

After I read about the exploit to skip objects I thought, well why not try it to escape the silent Oak. Mission success I was able to leave but got instantly teleported to Viridian Pokemon Center.

A friend casually mentioned how he got another Pokemon through Viridian Maze, and as I couldnt get a Pokemon any other way I made my way to get the abandoned Pokemon.

But i still got the Problem of a missing Pokedex and as I wanted to log out anyway, better do it where I can safely reproduce the bug of Prof Oak not letting me leave.

To my surprise it is actually coded in, that when u talk to Oak with no Pokedex and a Pokemon, that he just gives you a Pokedex, saying its the one I lost.

So I got my Pokedex and a Pokemon. Not the typical starter, but hey atleast i can play :D

 

I guess I can now play the game normally though I dont know if there are any lingering side effects remaining on me.

 

 

For future "purged" people I hope that this can help you, but of course it would be more desirable if this bug is fixed till then.

There was a user who had this experience as well and so, we've indeed slightly updated Prof. Oak to accommodate these bugged users.
