Do you know the map you open when you click on the arrow on the top right of the screen? It looks horrible, with all the regions randomly distributed in the world.

 

I honestly think you should re-design the entire map inspiring yourself with this image, that shows a stunning view of the pokemon world:

 

Actually, the map you are showing is wrong, since Sinnoh is a northern region, not southern. The PRO map is the most accurate world map so far.

There really is no need to implement a world map though; I understand some people don't know since they haven't played the games or not all of them, but it's not hard to just have a local map like we do now. It fits what players need, and it's a straightforward concept that needs no updating with anything fancy. You hold a map in your hand, and it does exactly what you want it to do: Show you the region.
