First of, I can't really prove what I'm about to say, but it is very likely to be so.

 

I've been hunting Vulpixes on Mt. Pyre Exterior lately, and while both the in-game pokedex and the Discord Bot tell me that it's possible to find Vulpix at night, I've yet to find one.

I find several during day and morn (they're tier 3, after all), but as soon as it gets dark, they disappear. (I've spent 20 mins with no vulpixes, 20 secs per spawn: around 60 pokes without a vulpix).
