PRO Guide to starting with Charmander.

Recommended Posts

Guide for new players or those who struggle when starting off with Charmander and need a better way to defeat Misty, and Brock.

(For the young Trainers using this-

When you see [~] it means Approximately for those who do not know what it means, and Approximately means, to show that something is almost, but not completely, accurate or exact; roughly.)

NOTE: If at 'Any Point' you're able to encounter a [ Snubbull ] catch it. Snubbull will make everything easier because it knows, Ice Fang, Thunder Fang, and Fire Fang. It's a Fairy type so he/she will be able to help you defeat most of the E4 in Kanto.

1. Before Brock

*Got Charmander

*Nidoran(M)

Why not Mankey?

Nidoran scales stat-wise best in the long run, and provides move coverage.

@Optional: Get a Butterfree for Sleep Powder ( Useful when Facing Misty)

NOTE: I did not include Pikachu as an option for the sole fact that it takes a while to find one, and would be a waste of

valuable exp if it were leveled and used against Misty. Butterfree provides the ability to catch pokemon and defeat

Misty, whereas Pikachu would only help you defeat Misty then get ditched for something better. You Plus out more by having

the Butterfree.

2. At Brock

*Charmander lvl 16 with Dragon Rage ( Gains dragon rage from denying Evolution)

*Nidoran lvl 14~ with Double Kick

3. Road To Mount Moon

* Let Nidoran(M) steamroll all trainers and Evolve to Nidorino

@Optional: Buy Magicarp From Man in Pokemon Center at Mount Moon

4. Mount Moon

* Get Moon stone

* Evolve Nidorino into Nidoking at lvl 20-22

* Make sure Nidoking is lvl 20-25 when leaving Mount Moon

* Charmeleon should be lvl 20 ~

@Optional: If you have Butterfree it should be lvl 20~

5. After Mount Moon

* If able to get Megakick teach it to Nidoking

* Defeat all trainers on bridge and up ahead on the way to Bill with Nidoking

@Optional: If you have Butterfree Train it to 25~

NOTE: When youre doing Bills Quest Talk to the Pillow

6. Misty

* Use Nidoking to defeat Staryu with Chip Away or Megakick (Megakick can miss but the reward is nice)

* Charmeleon's Dragon Rage Can clean up if Nidoking dies from missing too many Megakicks

@Optional: Start off with Butterfree to sleep power and switch to Nidoking to defeat Misty

7. The Hard Part Is Over

* Do the questline for Cut

* Nidoking will handel the LT. Surge with ease

* You can Get Rid of Butterfree

Hi Thank You Very Much for the great beginners guide I just started the game and found it really hard my charmander is already level 15 and I'm still trying to level it up as exp is very small now.

I just want to ask some things like

1. Does that mean when he reach level 16 I will not evolve him to charmelon? If so does that mean he's stock as charmander or will I still be able to evolve him? Pls help he's almost 16.

2. Butter free is from caterpillar and kakuna right? Does that mean I have to wait to evolve him?

3. My charmander has a naughty nature should I just don't focus on him anymore?

Great guide!

You say: "whereas Pikachu would only help you defeat Misty then get ditched for something better."

- That's true, but you need a level 100 Pikachu in order to fight Jessie and James Boss' and they give you random rewards, if you beat them. :)

- TBA

Snubbull doesn't have those fangs anymore sadly

I am back again from a loooooong break, That's a shame. I should really make a new account for a propper play through again from the beginning to make a new guide.
