Hello, I've recently just started playing.

 

I evolved my Caterpie and Weedle into Metapod and Kakuna. They have now reached level 10 and 11 respectively and still have not evolved nor have I gotten a prompt to evolve them. Am I missing something?

Sorry for the inconvenience. 

 

Can you please try to lose some happiness on your pokemon, which can be done by having it faint during a battle, restart the client, and leveling them up again. This should give you an evolution prompt.
