Each pokemon has a required experience to level up. For pokemon in the same evolutionary line, the further along they are the more experience they require to level up. For example a Bulbasaur will take less experience to get to level 50 than an Ivysaur. This is the main benefit to not evolving a pokemon until higher levels. This applies to all the different lines of pokemon that I am aware of.

 

Some pokemon have different exp requirements for levelling up than others. For example a Lapras requires more exp to get to lv 50 than a Kangaskhan (taken from bulbapedia).

 

There is no real difference between the exp gain ofpokemon with different amounts of evolutions aside from the fact that the more a pokemon has been evolved, the more exp they require.
