Hi I am playing on Pokémon a Japanese green version I have beat all the trainers on the boat and my rival I have given the captain his back rub but has not given me hm 01 cut is this a bug/ glitch or am I missing something I cannot take on the vermilion city without cut ??

I’m sorry for any frustration this situation may have caused.

To obtain the HM Cut from the captain, you’ll need to complete a few steps—none of which involve battling trainers or your rival. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Go to the kitchen on the first floor and talk to the NPC near the door. He will explain that the captain is sick and needs a potion to recover.
2. If you already have a Pecha Berry in your inventory, go to the second floor and enter the last room to give it to the NPC named Jenson. If you don’t have one, you can find a Pecha Berry inside one of the trash bins in the kitchen.
3. After that, head to the ballroom and go upstairs. A Blissey will be waiting for you there and will give you the potion for the captain.
4. Once you have the potion, take it to the captain. The guard near the stairs (northeast of the second floor) will allow you to pass if you’ve received the potion from Blissey.
