When i was battling against a wild pokemon at the first route, the wild pokemon was just hitting itself, well, he was actually doing damage to my pokemon, but instead of my pokemon hp reducing, the wild one reduced instead, and if the wild pokemon attacks first and deals more damage than my pokemon, its hp will regenerate, its pretty confusing to get a strong pokemon that way, since it will most likely attack first. Sorry for my bad english, and i hope you can help.
