At the time being, you are able to use cut and rock smash without the need to drag and drop them into a slot(if you have the axes)

 

So I suggest the same thing for Surf Mounts, would be really nice as I will be able to save slot for something else :)

He means to use the surf mount without the need to have it in the taskbar, so to use the surf mount without press the hotkey, but just with a click or with the spacebar when you are in front of the water, without the need to use the surf mount item.

ahh... that could be a good idea or they just add some more hotkeys.
