Here is what my character normally looks like:

 

When I try to preview a hat, my hair turns into short hair:

 

Is this just a problem with the previews, or do hats just not work well with long hair?

 

I don't want to buy a hat if it doesn't work properly with long hair.

 

And on a similar note, the preview for the new swimsuit outfit looks like this:

 

Does it look like that for both boy and girl characters? Because that's obviously a boy outfit, but the icon in the shop has two swimsuits so I'm wondering if there may actually be a separate sprite for girl characters.

still wondering about this, I've asked around but haven't found anyone who's sure.
