While rock smashing, my guildmate says he saw a textbox saying "maybe I need a pickaxe". Do we actually need a pickaxe to get more items or is it only a random textbox?

Every Excavation sites there is 1 rock/tomb that is shiny that you need pick axe (you can still smash it without the pick axe but you wont get an item/poke) so far i only got normal item just like in other rock/tomb. Btw my discoveries still low so my be the benefits on it will come handy if you already have high discoveries.

I use de Pickaxe in shiny rock and system say "This is not how you use the item" x.x

 

any idea why ? :(
