Are you currently playing with window-mode or fullscreen? Switch to fullscreen, change the resolution, return to window-mode. Besides, you can easily find out daytime but just looking at the icon. The only explanation I currently have: It must be your MacBook PRO. Try to clear caches, reset the HardDrive, I'm playing on a MacBook Air, 2015, working all fine.
