The Art of Swift EV Training :The Devil's Guide to EVing

"How many threads like this are there? Isn't this redundant?" A random embodied fellow proclaims.

Under the request of our fellow feline-loving GM that governs the Guide Tavern, the Devil presents to you the secrets and easiest ways with the new introduction of Hoenn to EV Train like never before.

As most or none of you may I know, I am a notorious, conscientious and experienced EV Trainer, having the cheapest service in the MMO and with the update and ease of breeding, even cheaper -- everything in this guide is, at the end of the day, opinionated.

Things to point out:

This guide is under process. Currently, this guide will include the easiest spots in every region to EV Train in one specific stat. Things to come include:

The Art of Swift EV Training

The Art of NPC EV Training

EV Training in multiple stats at once (inefficient, but I may add depending on my business)

Any remarks of mistakes and critiques in the process of my construction of this guide is thoroughly appreciated.

Please do not post in this thread until I have provided my required reserves. Thank you for your cooperation.

SINGLE STAT EV TRAINING

HP

HP is one of the easier farms due to the fact that Marill, a common spawn on lake water (see screenshot below), gives 4 HP with a Macho Brace, meaning you can hypothetically farm only 63 Marills to maximize HP. Azumarill is also a common site on Route 120, shortening the farm to 43 kills. Lake water is different than sea water in which the color is darker if it's sea and lighter if it's pond water.

Common Pokemon that give HP consistently:

hr0tmhD.gifAzumarill = 3 EVs (Presumably 94%, in Route 120)

DEPJp0g.gifMarill = 2 EVs (Ratio unknown)

0Zf7gUr.gifWooper = 1 EV (35%)

S8bPyyN.gifSlowpoke = I EV(17.5% presumably)

Marill can be found alongside a nearby healing source in:

Kanto: Four Island.

Hoenn: Pelalburg City, and Surfing on Routes 117, and 120.

In Hoenn, Azumarill will uncommonly appear wherever one can find Marill, with the exception of Route 120, where there is solely Azumarill, but interrupted by rare Mudkip, and Surskit/Masquerain/Goldeen.

In Kanto, Wooper and Slowpoke also spawn at the Four Island pond.

It is faster to farm HP in Hoenn rather than Kanto, since the encounter rates clock high everywhere you can find lake water, with a helpful Azumarill chance giving 3 HP, interrupted only by rare Surskit, Goldeen and Masquerain chances, compared to Kanto where it is interrupted by Wooper, Slowpoke and Psyduck. Best of all, most of them are low leveled, meaning than you can farm them easily without having to grind a few levels first. As a plus, all of Hoenn's ponds have a Pokemon Center nearby, meaning you don't have to stock for Leppa Berries or Potions to have extensive EV farm. Route 117 is in between Verdanturf and Mauville, whereas the Route 120 pond lies at the southeast of Fortree, where you need to go through some grass. However, there are only Azumarill here, so the process may be much easier since you only need to farm 42 Azumarills to maximize HP EVs.

ATTACK

The increase in fishing rates have buffed Attack EVing very significantly. Hoenn's Carvanha/Sharpedo fish spawns are great for attack farming, and the rates made the Fuschia Pond a more reliable source of farm than Mt.Moon's Paras spawns.

Common Pokemon that give Attack consistently:

m3g87wF.gifSeaking = 2 EVs (40%)

Y9tEZNe.gifSharpedo = 2 EVs (40%)

RD27ozk.gifGyarados = 2 EVs (15%)

2ogNDow.gifGoldeen = 1 EV (40%)

wAmZmxD.gifParas = 1 EV (100%)

rHVMXkm.gifCorphish = 1 EV (100%)

2Qe768N.gifCarvanha = 1 EV (60%)

Super Rod fishing for Carvanha and Sharpedo can be found near a reliable healing source in Routes 118, and 120. Route 118 in particular is the best due to the fact in that it's a short walk from Mauville.

Seaking, Gyarados and Goldeen can be found near a reliable healing source in the Fuschia Pond.

Paras can be found in the B1F near a reliable healing source at Mt.Moon.

Hoenn again possesses the more reliable Attack farm due to the fact that it has a consistent spawn of Carvanha and Sharpedo, no Intimidate delay from Gyarados, and the sea is not interupted by other stray Pokemon such as Psyduck and Slowpoke. A disadvantage about Attack farming from water, though, is that the Pokemon there are considerably high-levelled and powerful, although Carvanha and Sharpedo are frail, albeit powerful themselves. Rough Skin also easily triggers on Pokemon that farm attack due to their physical attacking nature, so more often than not an underlevelled Pokemon needs to head back for consistent healing. Similarly, the Fuschia Pond harbors Gyarados and Seaking that are considerably high-levelled, so anything that's underlevelled that doesn't have strong Defense or doesn't resist Normal and Dark will be worn down fairly quickly. Mt.Moon is still a reliable source of Attack farm for weaker Pokemon. Fortunately, all spots in both regions are nearby a Pokemon Center.

DEFENSE

Magma Hideout was what our bulky Waters that needed Defense had dreamed of -- no longer need they work on Tangela, but instead indulge in the watery slaughter of high EV supplying Graveler and Torkoal.

Common Pokemon that give Defense consistently:

5S375Y8.gifGraveler = 2 EVs (15%)

aoKhYRb.gifTorkoal = 2 EVs (30%)

QQ49YHE.gifGeodude = 1 EV (55%)

E4FN23h.gifTangela = 1 EV (100%)

Graveler, Torkoal, and Geodude can be found at a nearby healing source in the Magma Hideout, regardless of floor.

Tangela can be found at a nearby healing source on Route 21.

With Hoenn, Defense farming for Water types, such as the to-be omnipresent Swampert, is made much easier -- Magma Hideout offers a common spawn of two Pokemon that give two Defense EVs per kill, and all of the spawns are weak to Water, unlike Tangela which instead makes it tricky with it's Grass STAB and status. Selfdestruct from Geodude and Graveler can chip off a lot of health and ruin your sustain in EVing, so it's advisable to pack a few Leppa Berries and Potions around just in case. Use an Acro Bike to get there faster, but it will give a slight loss in movement speed.

SPECIAL ATTACK

Route 113 is a new, far easier way to Special Attack farm compared to the more time consuming Lavender Tower.

Common Pokemon that give Special Attack consistently:

orm8zMp.gifHaunter = 2 EVs (15%, top floor)

CYdPUqz.gifGastly = 1 EV (75-95%, depending on floor)

V7hsbO5.gifSpinda = 1 EV (60%)

A0EEUzW.gifSlugma = 1 EV (29%)

Gastly and Haunter are found throughout the Pokemon Tower in Lavender, Kanto. The highest floor elevates the Haunter spawn rate from 6% to 15%.

Spinda and Slugma are found on Route 113, East of Fallorbor, Hoenn.

Route 113, east of Fallorbor, is the new best Special Attack EVing spot, the nearby town being the reliable healing source. Interupted by only rare Skarmory and Sandshrew spawns, the ability to farm soot also kills two birds with one stone. It's generally more reliable than the tower as well, since you get to bike and don't have to go up and down troublesome portions of stairs to finish it. In Kanto, though, the Lavender Tower is the only reliable source of Special Attack farm, although the Haunter spawns are really nice.

For people who question me about the Numel Patch; Numel's spawns are lower than Spinda's and there's also a lot of unwanted stuff like Machop/Tyrogue/Marill there. From experience, Route 113 is far more efficient.

SPECIAL DEFENSE

This sort of EVing is the easiest given the high rates of jellyfish on the ocean floor. You can do this anywhere near sea, but preferably in Kanto due to Wingull spawns prominent on ocean unlike Kanto's pure jellyfish.

Common Pokemon that give Special Defense consistently:

sR41qtO.gifTentacruel = 2 EVs (5%)

cRxjSFH.gifTentacool = 1 EV (100%)

GER6nhw.gifHoppip = 1 EV (100%)

Tentacool can be found anywhere that has ocean in both regions. The closest places near a Pokemon Center and with the most consistent spawns are all in Kanto, including One Island, Five Island, Route 21 and west of Fuschia City. Cities with ocean, such as Vermillion, also work.

Tentacruel can be found near a reliable healing source at Kanto as well, in One Island, Five Island, Six Island, and Seven Island.

Hoppip can be found near a reliable healing source on Five Island ocean, or at the Five Isle Meadow.

Whenever you Special Defense farm, it's advisable to always do it in Kanto so as to not be interrupted by Seagulls. With their high encounter rates to which they appear nearly every two to three steps, Special Defense EVIng is in all an easy talk.

SPEED

Route 118 with the introduction of Hoenn adds more speed to your Speed farm, with grass full of Pokemon that provide Speed EVs and some juicy experience.

Common Pokemon that give Speed consistently:

BdiXu9b.gif Golbat = 2 EVs (100%)

mKZ3R40.gifLinoone = 2 EVs (10%)

JTB2Azl.gifDugtrio = 2 EVs (5%)

qtw02Zf.gifZigazgoon = 1 EV (30%)

prmPmom.gifElectrike =1 EV (20%)

r3Mif8Y.gifPidgey =1 EV (50%)

Uq99M9q.gifRatata =1 EV (50%)

0DJ4peR.gifDiglett =1 EV (95%)

Golbat can be found inside the cave near the Azumarill spot, surfing through the water, on Route 120. It can only be found walking on land, and the water will offer Zubat.

Ratata and Pidgey can be found near a reliable healing source in Route 1, below Kanto's Viridian City. The spawn rates decrease during the night.

Diglett and Dugtrio can be found near a reliable healing source in Diglett's Cave, east of Vermillion, Kanto.

Linoone, Wingull, and Zigazgoon can be found easiest near a reliable healing source in Route 118, east of Mauville.

Bird/Rat slaughtering in Kanto is my personal favourite since it preserves PP due to their low level so you don't have to 2-3HKO specific targets. For more faster, although harder farms due to the high levels of Manectric/Linoone, your Pokemon had better be at a suitable level to farm them first. If you need to farm Speed at night, you can always try Diglett's Cave, which is also a haven for Flying types or Levitate Pokemon that need Speed.

ahm wooper yields hp ev so surfing at ruins of alph is still faster with only wooper and quagsire spawning

tohjo falls for atk spd and sdpef

for atk only goldeen and seaking spawn if you surf inside

for spd on the cave grounds are zubat golbat rattata raticate

for spdef surf just outside the cave spawns tentacool tentacruel

all 3 stats spots are in between a healing source inside granny's house

if ur training tanks def and hp would be fastest at the same time at viridian forest and are easier to kill

for spatk i may have to agree with u at fallarbor but i havent tried that spot yet

Great SP Atk / Speed Ev training spot is in water on map between vermilion city and saffron.

Psyduck's Poliwag's Golduck's.

Another good Sp atk training spot is psyduck in johto ilex forrest (water).

OCh, and dont forget abotu Macho brace while you train EV's.

Route 113 is the best for defense training, not Sp. Atk. Sandhsrew, Sandslash, Magcargo are more common than Slugma and Spinda, and the ocasional Skarmory to add. It's a pretty good spot since there's no sturdy poke and they are not so strong.

The route east of Fortree is better for Sp. Atk, Oddish and Gloom are common, and sometimes there are Linoones for speed, since the majority of Sp. Atk pokes

likes speed.
