I heard there is a boss in Unknown Place that once you battle it you can try to recapture the legendary that you failed to capture. Not sure what the requirements are but you should try looking there.

Don't worry you can recapture your uncaught legendary by defeating the boss Nikola in Unkown Place - Trainers valley, not entirely sure if there is a cooldown of a week though ^^
