Hi,

 

I couldn't find any guide which points out which Pokemon are "good" and worth catching and leveling up.

 

Right now I'm just leveling up my starter, but I'm sure there are better Pokemon to catch. I've only played gen1 games before, so that's why I need something like this.

 

For example when i played Red, I would have a plan that as soon as I can get a Staryu I start leveling that up instead of my Squirtle.

Ev train. Get proper nature. Do not evolve them (only gaya) and sweep game.

I recommend you to invest in an adamant sync and catch Pidgey/Nidoran and train it along with your starter. Catch a paras when you hit Mt. Moon and an adamant high statted magikarp when you get the rod in vermillion. Do not evolve it into Gyarados yet, and try to beat eighth gym, once done, train your karp by using false swipe method to lvl 85+. and beat e4. Another important thing is to catch a magnemite with sturdy ability, he will help a lot.
