Overview

Judgement - Punishment Policy is a tool, use good judgement when punishing players, if you feel something doesn't quite fit, talk with your fellow staff before proceeding. Communication is key.

Severity Levels - are a way of grouping infractions together in order to fit them into a category. By categorizing infractions it makes punishing users easier.

Repeat infractions(if continued) - Players committing a violation following the issuance of their first will receive punishment of the next level of severity(make sure to start out at 1st infraction of next level).

Warnings

Verbal Warnings - In some cases before punishment is dealt you may want to issue a verbal warning via pm or in chat as it could defuse the situation before hand. Verbal Warnings are a way of letting a user know that their actions are in violation of the rules and to cease such conduct.

Non Verbal Warnings - /mute and /kick - Mutes and kicking can be viewed as non verbal warnings. When muting the key is to keep it short because mutes can be evaded by relogging. Muting or kicking a user should never be considered as an intermediate or long term punishment.

Severity 1

Inappropriate Behavior - profanity or vulgar language/spamming/evading word filter/toxic behavior

Advertising without staff approval(games and websites)

Wrong Chat - first infraction a verbal warning is mandatory, then escalate to 2nd, 3rd and so on.

Mute evasion - automatic quietban

Punishment

1st infraction = 60 second mute

2nd infraction= 120 second mute

3rd infraction= 300 second mute or kick

(if deemed necessary escalate to first infraction S2 punishment ) 4th infraction = quietban

Severity 2

(if continued) any S1 infraction

Unacceptable Behavior - Harassment/Hate speech/racism/Making threats against Users

Adult content(such as linking adult sites)

Glitch/Bug Abuse - abuse has several categories we will have appropriate punishment for it in the future. As commands become available these procedures will be expanded.

- Item Abuse = removal of glitched items, issue S2 punishment

- Battle/PVP Abuse = /pvpban is to be used when its functional, for now follow the punishment scale for S2 infractions.

Speed Hacking - automatic 5 day ban(increase to S3 if found again or if accounts associated with the ip)

Attempted Real Money Trading/Real World Trading

Impersonating Staff - There are several degrees to this. use your judgement as to what you think is appropriate within this, i've seen users claim to be staff ask for the truth and others saying im staff so you better not scam me. and then there is the more malicious players who claim to be staff and start demanding things go there way "you will give me that pokemon" or you will sell that pokemon to playerA, incases like that, not only do you have Staff Impersonation but attempted / successful scamming

Punishment

1st infraction = tempban 1-7 days

2nd infraction = tempban 7-14 days

Trade Related S2 Punishment - with all trade related infractions use quietban in conjunction with tradeban.

Fake bidding/buyer

1st infraction = tradeban 1 week(1 - 7 days) / if user is offline tempban for 3-5 days(use tempban only if user is offline, once offline trban is implemented we wont have a need to tempban for trade related infractions).

2nd infraction = tradeban 2 weeks(7-14days) / if users offline tempban for 7-10 days(use tempban only if user is offline, once offline trban is implemented we wont have a need to tempban for trade related infractions)

Attempted scams

1st infraction = tradeban 2 week(14 days) / if user is offline tempban for 5-7 days(use tempban only if user is offline, once offline trban is implemented we wont have a need to tempban for trade related infractions).

2nd infraction = tradeban one month(30 days) / if users offline tempban for 10-14 days(use tempban only if user is offline, once offline trban is implemented we wont have a need to tempban for trade related infractions)

Successful Scams/Accomplice to scams

1st infraction = tradeban One Month(30 days) / if user is offline tempban for 10-14 days(use tempban only if user is offline, once offline trban is implemented we wont have a need to tempban for trade related infractions).

2nd infraction = tradeban permanent / if users offline tempban for 30 days(use tempban only if user is offline, once offline trban is implemented we wont have a need to tempban for trade related infractions).

Make sure to ask for the pokemon back in the appeal process if they comply reduce by half except don't reduce for 2nd successful scams which require perma trban.

Trade related punishment example: Player A has is guilty of scamming, this is his first infraction. Player A should receive a a tradeban and quietban for a period of two weeks.

Severity 3

(if continued) any S1 - S2 infraction

Inappropriate Username

Inappropriate Guild Use(such as improper us of guild logo and etc)

Fake Screenshots/Evidence

Use Of Automated Software(botting)

Real Money Trading/Accomplice to RMT(trading pro items for non pro currency or items, clear evidence must be present)

3rd Infraction Successful Scam - with the 2nd successful ban users receive permanent trade ban(S2). If found that user has other accounts/ip's linked that have been permanent tradeban then perma ban the accounts, if uses proxy escalate to S4.

Punishment - remember to move the account into the suspended group on the forums acp

infraction = account permanent ban

Severity 4 - S4 will result in an ip ban consult admins or devs before issuing.

(if continued) S1 - S3 repeated offenders

Gaining access to accounts/Hacking Accounts

Making threats against server(such as implying ddos and other malicious threats)

Advertising malicious apps and illicit programs(such as hacking tools and etc) this is to be the case within pro services(game/forums) or outside sources such as social media sites if evidence is clear.

Punishment - remember to move the account into the suspended group on the forums acp

infraction = ip or special ban

Examples of repeat offenders

User Rush has had two accounts banned for Real Money Trading and one banned for inappropriate account name(mad because his other two accounts were banned). He recently created another account and tried to give false evidence in order to get someone banned. The ip associated with his accounts have been banned. The user was given multiple chances to learn from his mistakes yet he chose to continuously cause problems.

Player A has been banned. If the user has been banned on several accounts and is continuing this behavior (alt accounts(requires IP checking)) proceed with IP ban if using a proxy request special ban.

Consistency

Consistency in severity level and punishment should be even across the board. Below I will give examples of both consistent and inconsistent patterns and why you want to remain as consistent as possible.

Examples of inconstant and consistent patterns:

Inconsistent:

Bobby is banned 3 days for a continued S1 infraction, Mary is issued a banned 2 days for an attempted scam.

Sarah is banned 7 days for glitch abuse, Lucy is banned 10 days for glitch abuse.

Consistent:

Bobby is banned 3 days for a continued S1 infraction, Mary is issued a banned 3 days for an attempted scam. Even though both infractions are different they are on the same severity level therefore the punishment should remain consistent.

Sarah is banned 10 days for glitch abuse, Lucy is banned 10 days for glitch abuse. Both users are banned for the same infraction therefore they should receive the same punishment.

Commands that will be useful once fully functional

For now these commands don't work as intended, once they are fully implemented this thread will be updated.

trade ban(unable to trade / transfer)

pvp ban(unable to send or receive pvp battles)

encounter ban(unable to encounter shiny and HR pokemon)

Leniency & Cooperation

You may want to be lenient towards those that have cooperated with their current case or users that have been helpful in the past by reducing punishment time period. Users will often appear remorseful or sadden by their ban, this should not be a cause of leniency. User whom have donated shouldn't be given special consideration either. If punishment reduction is being considered make sure it's because the user has been truthful and up front about the situation, have had overall good history and reputation within the community.

Mod Tools

Now that mod tools are available please remember to search a user via mod tools to track their ban history, trade logs and other info. Shane recently change the ban policy, before issuing a ban check ban history to see if the user has been previously banned before determining the length of said ban.
