I have nearly no pokeballs and no $ to speak of.

How can I obtain $ to buy pokeballs, at least enough for a couple dozen to get me going?

Use the dig spots in Mt. Moon and the cave next to it (above Lavender). Sell the nuggets/star pieces at the place south from Bill's (in Cerulean). Other than that, grinding for money by killing pokemon/defeating trainers is really the only way. It's easier in Dragon's Den and Victory Road.

If he's so broke I imagine he's not far enough in the game for any of the above. I suggest just grinding Pokemon at the best place available. It shouldn't take too long.

He can still sell the stuff he digs up at the place below Bill's >.> Plus I said grinding by defeating trainers or killing pokemon. I only stated it was easier at Dragon's Den and Victory Road.

You still don't get dig until you are up to Vermillion at least. And would need over 50% happiness with the Poke, which requires grinding in itself.

He said he can't afford Pokeballs, which he would only need a couple thousand for. So with all the information given I would put him around the one badge mark. Leaving all options provided by you unavailable.

Wait I thought you got Dig at the house in Cerulean. Edit: That's where I got it. In the house that was blocked by the police officer.

Edit 2: You keep saying my options are "unavailable". Sure some might be but he can still go battle trainers if he hasn't and kill wild pokemon.

Found nugget and stary stone (or something) in mt.moon and sold both for 22k+, which more than enough to buy plenty of pokeballs.

Since I'm still, atm, haven't beaten Misty, this might be helpfull to other beggingers in need of $.
