I was entering Lavender town just now and it stopped me to eavesdrop on two guards going on about the chief of police or something like that. this has never happened before and I've already beat the kanto e4 and what not. Does anyone know why this happened?

Just ignore them and move on. It's just a storyline added for new players. It won't affect older players at all. :Shy:
