mudkip type might be coded wrong

Alright so when i started hoenn i started with the starter mudkip which i thought was type water.

When i checked it's stats i saw that it was type water and ground which was new to me so i looked up up on different Poke Wiki sites.

They all confirmed that mudkip was only of the type water.

When i arrived at the eclectro gym i started testing if my mudkip could get hit by electro type attacks which should be completely inneffective if it's actually type water and ground.

As far as i know if an attack is completely inneffective against one of the two types of a defending pokemon it will actually be completely inneffectIve even if it was effective against the other type.

When i encountered electro attacks though, my mudkip was getting hit and took super effective damage.

The question now is if the battling system of the game is different from other pokemon games and it just is effective cause it's also from the type water,

or the mudkip type is wrong and it's just from the type water.

:thanks: in advance !

I think this is only a graphic bug, Mudkip real type is still pure water, just like in the officials games. It will eventually become water/ground as a Marshtomp and Swampert though.

Mudkip is supposed to be water type only yes. Swampert however is water-ground type. So I think the developers might have just written water and ground on mudkip on accident. They are trying to stay true to the original games so.

I'll be back in 5 minutes. But if I'm not, just read this message again.
