This might be a stupid question, but is there any way to go through Mt. Silver without Rock Smash? I've never completed Johto before (as Gen III fan myself), and I did not come prepared. Do I really have to walk all the way back to Violet and get Rock Smash to get through the mountain? Any other way? :\ :Shocked:

You can go to the top of Mt. Silver with out Rock Smash, but you need Rock Smash in order to fight the Black Belt, so you can then fight Red at the top of Mt Silver. Hope it helps.

You don't need to go through mt silver or fight red to go to hoenn. You need a lvl 80 ratatta so you can fight the youngster Joey boss. The youngster Joey boss is at the Indigo Plateau.

Rock Smash is also available from celadon mart, which is a little closer than violet. Also you can buy pick axe for 75c so you don't need to bring any rock smash pokemon with you all the time.
