Has he tried using an escape rope to get out?

Hey HenryHV,

 

there is also a 2nd option in case he doesn't have an escape rope: Try battling a Pokemon and log out/ ALT + F4 during the battle. (I would not recommend abusing this permanently since it actually would defeat the purpose of having escape rope.)
