Water Moves' Secondary Effects vs Water Absorb

I had recently reported that Scald burns Pokemon with Water Absorb when it shouldn't and thankfully it was fixed.

 

I faced a similar case just now. I encountered a Poliwag and this is what happened:

 

Kadabra (my lead) used Role Play

Kadabra's ability is now Water Absorb

Poliwag used Bubble

Kadabra absorbed the Bubble

Kadabra's SPD fell.

 

The bold part shouldn't happen. Pokemon with the ability Water Absorb are basically immune to Water type moves and their secondary effects.
