Question about competitive battles - Would you help me?

Featured Replies

I want to play competitively with other players however what should I do: should I play the game normally and only after beating Kanto start building a competitive team? I mean, when is the best time to start building a competitive team?

Thx!!

Personally I think you should beat the game before worrying about competitive. In order to have a solid comp collection you'll need access to as many pokemon and areas as possible, so beating the game will get you closer to this goal. Plus, you can get absolutely lost searching for even 1 comp worthy pokemon, so I like getting the storyline out of the way so I don't feel guilty about spending 4 hours hunting for a heracross or something.

If you happen to catch a nice comp poke on storyline, that's always nice too. But as far as I can remember, EV reducing berries are a pain to get, so be careful about using those storyline gods.

Is the competitive battle level random to? Like say I have level 70 pokemon can I end up fighting someone with level 100 pokemon?
