hey so not sure this is the right place to post this but

 

there's an npc in front of the dewford gym who won't let me in

he says to go talk to "some weirdo" in granite cave

inside granite cave is steven, who tells me to come back later and has no further dialogue, which does not unlock the gym. is there another weirdo i should be talking to or? i tried help chat but all i got was advice to talk to mr briney which tbh hasn't done much. TIA.

that did it, thank you very much. i seem to have missed the step of talking to some npc standing outside of rustboro gym.
