Guest James
So I had a thought of writing a program that calculates a Pokemon's overall rating based on ivs/nature/ability/importance of individual ivs etc. I need some help coming up with specific values. Obviously the scale is base 10. The most basic form I could come up with is ivs make up 90% and nature makes up 10%. nature = 10% stat difference at max. Essentially the program would ask you for the most important stats and then other stats. Totally a maximum of a 9/10 raiting. Then it would ask for nature. If its a bad nature you lose a point. If its a neutral nature do not gain or lose points. If it is the perfect nature(possibly more than one i.e modest/timid) you gain +1. What are your thoughts. Are my weights off. Should nature count for more? Should Ivs count for more?. Link to comment https://pokemonrevolution.net/forum/topic/6599-pokemon-rating-algorithim/ Share on other sites
Aewyr
Hey there, I think your idea is not bad. However, nature has a huge impact so I would say 50-50% (maybe 60-40% actually depends on your preferences). There are a lot of bad natures for pokemon, but it needs more attention in the program than +1 1 or -1. Because you can have a nature that favors one special ability of your pokemon, and others favor 2 abilities (for example: Gengar: +SPD & -ATK) The reason this favors gengar on 2 things is because his normal ATK doesn't matter that much. So other things won't get worse. This reminded me a lot of breeding. If the program was meant for breeding, keep in mind that this will not come in PRO.
