As we all know hm's for the most part are pretty useless in battle(few exceptions i.e surf). My suggestion is simple. Have the option to teach your pokemon hms, but just for outside of battle purposes. Example I use hm fly on my pidgeot. Use it on him and I select "just for outside of battle". This gets rid of the well known issue of hm slaves.

HM slaves issue? What is that? Are you suggesting for fly to be usable outside of battle or for travel then it wont work coz fly will never be implemented for travel

Hm slaves are when you have a pokemon that knows just hm's to help you progress the game. You normally do this because you don't want to give your battling pokemon bad moves.

Thanks for the info. I read over that thread and I think it expands on this idea pretty well. Implementing this idea would really put pro ahead of the curve.
