It depends what you mean by "a long time".

As you can read on the Read this before making a General Support topic post:

Any username used in a failed registration attempt will be locked for up to 7 days, at which point if still not activated it will become available again

 

Past this week, you will then have to recreate the account, but the username you used should be available again.

Reminder that you are permitted to have 2 accounts per email address and up to 4 per person. :Grin:

 

 

Make sure to read the post linked above, as well as the Email issues, in case you don't get your activation link :)

Lastly, reminder that Gmail, Outlook or Yahoo are the providers that work best to get the activation link!
