Hello everyone! My friend and I need some help. He can't leave the mountain without defeating the Mayor first, but he has lost several times and can not beat him. He wants to leave the mountain to try again later after training up more Pokemon but is stuck.

Can anything be done about this?

Thanks!

Grind in the grass or get a friend to give you level 100s to beat the mayor then return them.

The pokemon in the grass are all low leveled :Frown: would take so long to train. And we play the game kinda to ourselves so we have no friends to let use borrow the pokemon. Most people are not that trusting... But if that's only the real way...

I tried to train there but gave up eventually (it's too grindy) and just used RCs to get my Gengar up to 100, which allowed to me to beat the mayor's M. Gengar. His other Pokemons were considerably more manageable and I was able to finish him in my second attempt.

Same problem here. Came into the event just after beating Kanto elite 4 and beat the first boss after a few tries but I can't even kill the 1st Pokemon on the mayor's team. On top of that, I can't even leave to catch and level a Pokemon that can. Guess I just have to wait for the event to end before I can continue playing the game since even if I level my current team to 100, the M-Gengar will still wipe me out.

EDIT: Finally managed to beat it. My Pidgeot could survive 1 hit from Gengar, so after about 20 tries, it managed to confuse Gengar with Hurricane and then die to poison from sludge bomb so my Alakazam could swap in and kill Gengar after Gengar hit itself in confusion. I also taught my alakazam toxic for this fight (since it was quicker than everything but Gengar) and had it toxic every other Pokemon while using revives, roost, and recover to wait out the toxic. The fact that I couldn't leave and instead had to use nearly 20 revives in 1 fight to win is kind of dumb.
