So i was progressing through story i just beat the 8th gym so i went down to dark cave, but i forgot i dont have a pokemon with rock smash so i exit dark cave and try to go back but there is ledges blocking my path so i cant go back to blackthorn. i know i have to struggle to death or get all my pokemon killed by a level 3 zubat but is there a different way to get out?

Where exactly are you stuck in the Dark Cave? A screenshot would help a lot :Angel:

You can surf around these rocks and go out of the cave Route 31:

 

 

Past a certain spot, you can't go all the way back up to Blackthorn City anymore, and will have to exit towards Route 31, then dig through the cave, or go all the way around it again.

Otherwise, you have two options:

• Use an escape rope;
  
• Disconnect during a wild or unranked PVP battle (you won't lose money, and get sent back to your last visited PokéCenter)
