Darthbane
First of all I want to say that this is an amazing game. If you helped make this the game that it is congratulations you did a great job. I even like the choice to remove breeding. All Pokemon should have some potential. I also like the removal of fly and the current travel system that replaces it. It provides a valuable money sync that helps prevent inflation. Because of how much i like this game I would like to see it become more popular and successful. Here are some changes that I think would improve the enjoyment of new players without making it easier for hard core players. After all a large population of casuals is healthy from game success. E.G in LOL over half of the ranked playerbase is bronze or silver. 1. The ability to lock Effort values(concept image below). Justification: Currently there is no way(that i am aware of) to block your Pokemon from gaining certain ev's. While competitive players simply grind for a few hours to max the stats new players and casuals are forced to have Pokemon with crap ev's. This feature would not increase the speed of EV training but rather help new players adjust themselves to the idea of competitive Pokemon. The pokemon would have to be replaced eventually, but this system would make it eaiser for people with bad Pokemon to get the maximum effectiveness out of them. 2. A use for all these redundant catch fodder Pokemon. Justification: To be fair, the original games all have this problem. However i think that having 30 useless magikarps sitting in the bank that you cant even sell kills the "everything is useful" feeling in the game. You clearly cant have a system were you sell the Pokemon because then you cause inflation. instead, i think a system where pokemon can be exchanged for "effort powder" would be viable. Obviously, the powder could only be used on Pokemon of the same type to prevent pidgy farming. The powder can only be used to give ev's if it has less than 100 ev's in in much like the modern ev boosting options. "grinding" a pokemon with higher effort values gives you more powder. So that lvl 100 starter you have isnt completely worthless when you finaly get one with a good nature. Once agian, this feature doesn't help compeditive players that much, but can work wonders for players with little to know Pokemon experience when they try to make the late game transition. I'm sure there is a way to make this system lore friendly. Perhaps when you release a pokemon from the box the game could say "the data from this Pokemon was recorded" and somehow that data rewards effort values. Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I hope that this game does well and lasts long.
