Hey there!

Well, actually, Johto's E4 is at the same location than Kanto's, so, technically, you already don't need to beat Johto's Elite 4 to go back to Kanto :Angel:

Though you do need the 8th badge, and there is no other way than that.

 

You still have time to finish Johto's story before claiming your gifts, don't worry, and you'll need rather strong pokemon to get the most out of the event :3
