I checked a few guides and most seem outdated. They say the main cave is inaccessible and such but i was able to use waterfall just fine. Now its just a matter of finding Carbink. I was wondering if he was one of the two ? on the map and if so what time of day does he show up? I would use the dex but I haven't seen a Carbink yet. Can someone assist me?

Carbink is available In Diamond Domain Main Cave (where you are). You can find it on land all day. It is a very rare pokemon, however, so be prepared to hunt for a while!

As @Purplemauth stated, yes, Carbink spawns on land all day. Diamond Domain Main Cave has been accessible for a few months now,
