Randomly not receiving EXP since activating 20% EXP Booster

Featured Replies

Random trainers, primarily throughout Sevii Islands will not reward EXP for defeating them. It seems to be completely random, some trainers will work fine (for example, haven't had a single issue during battles against past gym leaders or trainers like fake Lance).

In the battle I just had with my rival who's name I can't bother to remember I only got EXP for killing his first Pokemon and none afterwards.

I don't see the point in a 20% EXP Boost if it just results in no EXP. :x

Sorry for potato quality, but it's still visible enough. In that battle got EXP for first kill, none for second, started recording and got none for the next two.

Hello there, and foremost, sorry for your inconvenience!

However, it is not a bug: not all trainers are meant to provide experience, typically those only there for the quest that won't be re-challengeable once defeated, like the one you're battling in your video, whether you have an active XP boost or not.

These are just challenges to pass to be granted the right to access the next area :Shy:

  • For instance, you will get experience from Gym Leaders, but only the first time you try to beat them; if you lose, you won't get any anymore.

This is to avoid farming exp on the first poké and lose on the last, since these NPCs are needed in quests/storyline, they won't budge until defeated

With this being said, I wish you a good day! :Sing:
