Ok, so I downloaded the client today and at first it just black screened on start up, while trying to fix that it finally stopped doing the black screen, and the loading screen appeared, only for it to crash. So in turn I followed all the directions on the issue tracker forum for crashes on Windows 7. My drives are up to date, my fieralls let it through, and I have plenty of GB on my drive. I couldn't figure out how to attach the file of my crash, so I copied it into the spoiler.

If the resolution is due to a stupid error on my part, I apologize for wasting anyone's time, I just really want to play this game. Also not sure if the spoiler thing worked, if it didn't, a thousand apologies.

Hello there, and foremost, sorry for the inconvenience; also be advised that I've edited your post to use the other spoiler tag, as it seems the one you initially used is broken since the php update and kept closing when trying to open it

Did you try to add the [c]-force-d3d9[/c] argument in the shortcut's target?

  • If so, could you try to do the same but with [c]-force-opengl[/c] instead?

Furthermore, did you follow the Issue Guide's steps for the black screen upon launch, or tried other things? If so, mind telling what, in case it could come from there?

(The steps mentioned there being: Change your desktop resolution, open PRO, and revert the change back to your native resolution)

I've been told you haven't another hard drive partition so can't ask you to try to move your game's folder there, although sometimes permissions on C: can be restricted and tricky, as it hosts the sensible files notably mandatory to run your OS itself.

I'm looking forward for your answer; in the meantime, I wish you a good day :Sing:

ok so first off I did do the screen resolution change, open pro, and change back afterwards, then it gave me the legalese accept or decline, accepted, then it froze and crashed and has been crashing since no matter the resolution I have. At one point I did see a loading screen before it crashed.

When the crashes started I followed the win 7 guide, then did the 3 other steps, updated drive, but i could not find a way to restart the directx, trying to uninstall will apparently ruin my pc according to the warnings i got when I attempted to uninstall it.

I don't know how to add the ' -force-d3d9 argument in the shortcut's target', is there a step by step guide on how to do this?

Thank you for your help.

Yes, in the PRO64_93_2.exe is not responding topic: https://tinyurl.com/PRO64Fix

Add it at the end of your desktop shortcut's target as shown here ‒but don't change the target to match the screenshot's, keep the one you created, just add the argument at the end

Also, please try all of these three, but alternatively (not all at once):

  • -force-d3d9
  • -force-d3d11
  • -force-opengl

P.S.: Yes, images in Avatars and signatures are currently not working as intended, it's part of the changes still to be fixed since the php update of the forums :Sing: Sorry for the inconvenience in the meanwhile!

I hadn't done that, but even after following all the steps, it still didn't work :(

I'm not sure what the problem is, this laptop can run minecraft, but it can't run this? Are there any other programs I should have on my laptop to help run the game? Should I add the latest crash report from the change in the shortcut?

Well if you get a different error than the one above, sure, link the new reports :Shy:

Otherwise, are you running other programs aside from PRO while trying to join?

To be honest, I'm not quite sure about what the problem is myself either; a lot of lower end machines couldn't run the game anymore past the Christmas update, due to Unity's game engine's updates, like up to Windows Vista.

However, I'm running it on Windows7 x64 myself without any issue so it should be able to work.

The only difference I see between your crash report and my setup would be that I have my game folder on D:, however I've just tried to create a folder in the exact same location than you, but still don't get an error :D:

"C:\Users\Owner\Documents\Emulator\PRO x64\PRO64.exe"

So, do your newest crash reports display a new error? Or still the same d3d11.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)?

I'll keep trying to find other possible fixes in the meanwhile

So during the forum blackout someone on discord suggested I try the game while my laptop is in safe mode and the game worked just fine. According to that person that means some other program is interfering with my directx11 program or the actual pro game. I did play the game a little bit on another computer and the game worked just fine. I'm not sure how to find what program is causing the interference. Any suggestions?

Hey again;

Indeed, however I'm afraid I would be unable to determine what would cause the issue for you. I could only suggest you to restore your OS to factory settings and re-download the softwares you actually need exclusively, in a first time, see if it works then and build up from there. If it doesn't, it might come from an OS update as well, I really can't say. :PiplupCry:

Thank you for the feedback, and I'll be glad if you could come back again with more infos ‒if you decide to try this, that is, it's up to you after all.

In the meantime, I wish you a great day!
