unable to progress at Mt. Silver due to glitch?

Hello,

 

At Mt. Silver, the rocket grunt battles you before letting you venture further into the cave. Right when I started the battle, my wifi disconnected. Of course this booted me from the game and when I reloaded, the grunt had registered my disconnection as a loss. Subsequently, he won't let me rebattle him or enter into the cave. Do I have to wait a full day irl to battle him again, can I ever proceed, or is this just a glitch?

 

I would love to be able to actually progress through the game

The Rocket Grunts have a cooldown of 2 hours. Once the cooldown ends, you can rebattle them and continue your quest.
