Perish Trap Azu, 'bugged and bannable'?

Description• Water - Special - 35 BP - 85% - 15 PP • Traps and damages the target for 4-5 turns.

PRO Note• Bugged and bannable • Still traps the foe after the user switchs out the Pokemon who used it.

Hello. ^ was taken from our discord bot, and according to it, using whirlpool is 'banable'.

There is a certain Azumarill set, its called Perish-Trap. Its pretty simple. You go Azumarill -> opponent panics, thinks its CB / BD set -> switches into his

Wall, i.e. Ferrothorn, while you use Whirlpool to trap it. Next Turn you perish Song, and Switch on Turn 3. Opponents Pokemon dies cuz it can't switch out,

Azu is saved.

This usage DOES NOT abuse the bug that is

Still traps the foe after the user switchs out the Pokemon who used it.

so my question is now, is Perish Trap Azumarill bannable, if you use it like this or not?

I did not bother to play Pro PvP yet, so i don't know if there was an example case yet or not, so i just hope to get some quick answers.

Even if you intend to only switch out on Turn 3, it's also possible that the opponent takes out your Azumarill before Perish Song trigers. If that happens, he should be saved and be able to switch out, however because of the bug, his Pokémon is still doomed to die.

In that case, even if you intended to keep playing fair, you have still gained advantage from the bug.

So its only punishable if i gain an unfair advantage out of it?

Its not too hard to tell if your opponent will be able to kill you Azu before Perish Song ends or not. You're running Protect

There's still too many risks of gaining accident advantage of it. You might think you can survive, but receive Crits or get some nasty status effect and die early anyway. If you use Protect in the middle of the Perish Song Cooldown, it's too late to judge that you're going to die or not.

The safest way to not gain advantage would be to trap only on the last turn. And then again, you'd still need to survive that turn, as even if you use Whirlpool after the opponent's turn, there's still chances to die from Poison damage or something like that, and still gain unfair advantage.

So it's best to just stay away from that combo until the trapping issue is fixed.
