Hi everyone!

I started playing a few days ago and I really love the game so far but today, I encountered a bug with butterfree's learnset.

I already searched on the forum and I learned that moves can't be learned when a pkmn evolves (In my case, butterfree cannot learn confusion since it evolved from metapod at lvl 10) but why didn't it learn the powder moves at lvl 12? It took me half a day just to lvl up my lvl 5 caterpie into a lvl 12 butterfree.... I don't feel like lvling up my pkmns anymore. What if I lvl up butterfree to lvl 16 and it doesn't learn gust? It's going to be a big waste of time.

Edit: Problem fixed. I closed the game for a while and when I went back in the game, for some unknown reason, my butterfree could use confusion. O.o

Also, there's one last thing I would like to say: Please fix the wiki. Everything I wrote above (The stuff about the moves and the lvl they're learned) was based on stuff I saw on the wiki.

Anyway, have a good day everyone.

Hi RPGLover88,

Regarding the situation you're describing: You may have not had four moves learned on your Metapod, therefore when your Butterfree evolved, it learned Confusion without giving you a prompt, but not giving you a prompt made you believe that Pokemon cannot learn moves when evolving.

However, some Pokemon must be at a certain evolutionary stage in order to learn a move, otherwise it cannot be learned. This is how some moves also function in the original handheld games. If you've missed a move you'd like to learn due to evolving the Pokemon later than the learning level, please go to a Move Relearner to re-learn the move! Here are the locations of every Move Relearner in the game:

Kanto - Cerulean City and Saffron City

Johto - Goldenrod City and Blackthorn City

Hoenn - Slateport City marketplace and Sootopolis City

Sinnoh - Snowpoint City and Hearthome City

If you haven't already, you can check the Pokedex and look at what level your Pokemon learns a certain move, as some of our movesets aren't on the latest Pokemon generation. It appears that Butterfree actually learns Gust at Lv1, so you will need to go to a Move Relearner in order to teach your Butterfree the move Gust.

Some Pokemon may also need to use the Pre-Evo Move Tutor in order to learn a move that it would have been tutored at a younger evolutionary stage; in order to talk to that Pre-Evo Move Tutor, you will need to have unlocked the daycare centers; to do so, please follow the Egg Move Guide. Please note that this is also how you unlock egg moves to teach your Pokemon as breeding is purposely not implemented in the game.

Lastly, regarding the wiki—the wiki is updated by contributors and some staff on their own free time, and unfortunately it's not up to date as we're all volunteers and have only so much time to spare contributing to PRO! However, if you see something that is missing in the wiki, you can request your own wiki account and start updating the wiki as well! However, the wiki will be down until June 1st, 2018 due to issues with our host.

Most of the big quests—such as the story quests and catching Legendaries—already have guides written in the Game Guide subforum, so although it may not be on the wiki, you can count on most valuable information to be somewhere on our forums. If you're still lost and need help on something that isn't on the wiki either, feel free to ask for assistance in General Support and we'll help you out there!

Kind Regards, Astraea.
